Documenting my creative process one photography project at a time.
Why I Haven't Made A Video In 4 Months, and That's Ok!
After almost a year of consistent TH-cam creation, I took a 4-month break-and I’ve learned so much in the process. In this video, I open up about the challenges of juggling a full-time job, being a husband and father, and maintaining a social life while creating content. I’ll share the lessons I’ve learned about balance, burnout, and reconnecting with my purpose as a creator. Whether you’re a fellow TH-camr or just trying to balance life’s demands, this video is for you. Let’s normalize stepping back to move forward.

Happy to hear you were able to take a step back and refocus. Prioritizing, distractions, there's only so many hours in a day. It can get the best of any of us. I'm looking forward to whatever content you put out and future photo walks.
Thanks for the support Jeff, it means a lot! 🙏
If you comitt, you do it daily. A week off, understandble. Thats why youtube is not a career.
Maybe one day I’ll be able to commit daily, but for now I’m going to go at my own pace (for better or for worse), as long as it’s fun for me. Thanks for watching!
The internet has been really quiet about this lens! I was able to find a really good deal on the used market, can’t wait for it to arrive! Your portraits are amazing!
I have no idea why people aren’t talking about it, to me it’s a great lens!! Let me know what you think once you get yours?
Thanks for sharing. Burnout is so real and it’s helpful when we are all honest about it. Always love watching whatever you do next!! Happy New Year (& early bday) 🎉🎉
Thank you so much Joy!!!
I felt this. Thank you for being transparent bro
I knew you would relate to this one.
Great video
Appreciate you watching!
Burnout is real, gotta take care of yourself bro. Happy New Year!
Appreciate it! Happy New Year to you too.
Thank you for your vulnerability and for continuing to share your journey. As creatives, we often set these lofty goals and that’s great. They challenge us, push us, and leave us with tools and experiences that no one can take away. But what you’ve pointed out is so important: productivity isn’t always about relentless hustle. Sometimes, it’s about knowing when to pause, to rest, to step back. Cheers to you for recognizing that and giving yourself the space to do it.
100%!!! As always Jorge, you get it. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
Your photo walks were a huge part of helping me rediscover my love and joy for photography after burnout shelved me for almost five years. Thank you for all the work you put into community building. Excited for the winter events you’re planning. I’ll be there 🙌
Thanks Nick, just hearing your story reminds of why I do what I do. Been a pleasure having you join the walks and your work is great! Looking forward to this year. 🙌
Super Dope! #StaySolid 💯
Appreciate you!
Thank you for being honest. It reminds me that we are all human and not machines. Have a wonderful 2025
Happy New Year Thomas!
Silencing my notifications has been a life saver and I recently learned how to have a select people’s notifications not be silenced for emergencies! good luck with finding your balance! 🙏
I need to check that out, thanks for the tip!
Inspiring, informative and educational, as always! It actually has made me feel better about output, and simultaneously pushed me to plan out aspirations for content creation for 2025.
Glad you found it helpful and encouraging! Looking forward to seeing what you create this year.
Catching yourself from burning out is not only necessary but incredibly healthy. Thank you for sharing and letting us know that it’s okay to slow down and create balance in our lives. 🙏🏻 ✅Adding time blocking too
Yesssir! Let me know how the time blocking works out for you.
I haven’t touched my camera since the beginning of October. It really hurts me that it’s the case but I lost all inspiration and drive to shoot. I’m a husband and father of 2. I lost my full time job and have had to step into a new career as well as carrying many other part time/side jobs not including photography. Burning out is unfortunate. I’m trying to streamline just like you mentioned but it’s tough. I hear you and appreciate the info you added to this video, take care of yourself!
Thanks Carl, hope you figure it out or at least find some inspiration and balance in the process. All the best for 2025!
I just saw part 1 of your video. Great job!
Thank you!
I've been looking for a small 50 to pair with my 28 Ultron v2. I have a Voigtlander 50/1.1, but it's massive and heavy and just really doesn't give me the light, fast shooting experience I love with my M10. Your video convinced me to give this lens a shot. It'll be here in a few days. Stunning portraits, man! Thanks for the insight and the casual real-world look at what this lens offers.
Nice! Let me know what you think and if you're open to it, feel free to share some of your work after testing it out. Good luck!
Really beautiful photos Bryan. This video was really helpful - I'm at the "researching Leica lenses even though I don't actually have a Leica" stage.
We’ve all been there before lol! Good luck and let me know what you end up getting.
I’ve also been playing with the idea of getting a 50mm v4. I like what voigtlander is doing lately. I have the new 28 skopar and I love that lens. One thing I heard on the 50 2.2 was the focus tab sits close to the camera body. I use a half case and I wonder how much room I’d have to move the tab with the case on. Hard to know for sure without getting my hands on one. Maybe I’ll just pony up for the v4. Great shots btw!
Hey John! I don’t use a half case or else I’d be happy to let you know if there were any issues with the focusing tab. Let me know if you get the V4 and how you like it? Also thanks for the positive feedback on my photos, appreciate it!
Wow, this is really awesome. The black and white has a magic that is really unique.
I agree! I love black and white, it really is magic.
Awesome how can I mount it on non metallic surface like a wall
so where is it?
is that jay z in the back?
Yes! It’s a photograph of Jay-Z from the Reasonable Doubt album artwork shot by Jonathan Mannion.
I hope this message finds you well. It’s been a while since we last connected, so I wanted to check in and ask how the progress on the review video is coming along.
I dont understand why voightländer makes every lens to focus till 0,5m when most rangefinders focus til 0,7.
Leica is doing the same
For a meaningful, timeless image, I miss the man's face, his expression, his emotions during the pandemic, so it's descriptive but not captivating
Wow, stunning creativ pictures, I like them a lot! The model is great too! The lens is ... a lens, yes, but it does'nt matter for me.
Thank you!
Halo great video lots of information 👍👍👍just one question nobody talks about is where do you sale your photos is it stock photography where to whom? Be specific please we need lots more info thanks
@@stevennecic2106 Hey Steven! I mostly sell my photos online using my website or people will reach out to me directly on instagram and ask for prints. I also show my work in group and solo exhibits, and that usually leads to print sales. Hope that helps!
Your transparency is absolutely so helpful and encouraging. I’m currently a recently unemployed but highly motivated photographer with pretty decent skills for my low budget and self taught nature. I do however struggle HEAVY with networking and I’m super introverted. Hoping to bite the bullet, discover my niches, work on finishing my website with the best of my photos from the past year, and finally get some paying clients that aren’t just friends and relatives! (Commenting this to thank you for your work, but mostly to hold myself accountable to my words) Your shoots and freelance work the past year is incredible btw
@@Joshua.Wheeler Thanks Josh! Holding yourself accountable is a great idea. Let me know when your website is done, I’d love to check it out. Good luck!
Great captures! Love the way you guys played with the construction area. Well done brother!
Appreciate you! 🙏
Absolutely incredible photography. The model was great, striking looking and clearly great fun. As for the lens… looks perfect to me.
Thanks Marcus! The lens was a lot of fun to shoot with and you’re right the model killed it.
Nice video! What kind of soft release button do you use on your M6? Thanks 🙏🏻
Thanks! It’s a cheap $20 version I picked up at Camtec Photo in Montreal.
Great review! Love to see how it renders with color films in your future videos. I am actually looking for a 50mm for my M11-P. Highly curious how this lens performs at 60MP.
Thanks! I’ve got a roll of Portra 400 in there now… I’ll post some photos once I finish the roll.
Why not the 50mm planar? Relatively small, sharp, f2.0 and great image quality.
I tried my friend’s planar and it seemed a little too sharp for my liking. I also wasn’t a fan of the focusing “nub”, I prefer the tab. Plus it was more expensive. But I know a lot of people love that lens, just not for me.
I've really enjoyed my copy. Ill be selling off my 50 cron v5, now that I have this.
Wow! That’s a big move to sell the cron v5. I wasn’t able to shoot and compare lenses, what would you say is the biggest difference other than the price? LOL
Great video man and totally agree with you. I have this lens in silver and works like a charm on my M 240 and M3, specially since both cameras are also in silver :). I pair it with the 28mm 2.8 Color Skopar, also in silver and that combo is so awesome specifically the size and weight. Keep up your great work!
Thanks! Sounds like you’ve got a great set up. What’s it like shooting with the 28mm 2.8 Color Skopar? Would love to see some photographs!
@@BryanBrock_ the 28mm Color Skopar is the lightest and smallest lens I’ve ever owned and I barely notice it on my M cameras. It performs more then good enough for my personal hobby use and finally I can leave the thought about getting the 28mm Elmarit f2 😀 Planning to do a video about this video after collecting more experience, but so far I’m blown away by the performance specially in this small form factor.
@@IntrovertAmateur That’s amazing to hear! It seems like more and more people are leaning towards using alternative options like Voigtlander. I’m going to have to try the 28 at some point!
Finally someone talking about this lens! I have this lens adapted to my Nikon ZF and it's my perfect more compact setup. I love that the lens doesn't really give you that clinical modern look, but more of a character, which is great when shooting digital
I still don’t know why the internet hasn’t picked up on this incredible little lens?! Great idea… I gotta try it on my Sony a7iv with an adapter!
I was surprised at how quiet the internet has been about this incredible M mount lens release. It's a fantastic lens and the video covering it is top-notch. Great job!
I was surprised as well! It’s easily my new favourite lens and I’m just getting started. Thanks for watching Kevin.
you gassing me up man 😂 I have a Leica 50mm f2 elmar M, very good lens, but kind of hate having to collapse it, might look at this onen❤
Ha! Would love to know your thoughts if you make the switch.
🔥🔥🔥 Lets goo!! The lens looks fun! my fav pic is the one from the construction, I like its depth of the 50mm and the bw
Thanks Jas! Can't wait to shoot more with this lens.
Great video! Love 4:02 🤣 I shoot 28, 40, 85 in general on the streets. I use the 40 as my slightly wider 50. 📸👍🏾
Dae was so good about climbing in those giant cement construction tubes.
Cool stuff 😊 nice video!
Thanks for watching David!
The results are 🔥 🔥
Thanks! Can’t wait to shoot more with this lens.
Thanks for the input! Really good and crispy photos… will have a hard time picking this or the 50 1.5 II up (like the swirly character i have seen from this) 😅☺️
