      This guy almost blown up the last BlackBerry shot to return in the game with phones. He has nether the knowledge nor the balls to save BlackBerry phone business. I'm excited about Priv due to engineering efort not become of marketing. Many people in UK are without idea that BlackBerry still produce phones.

    • @ChazRegal
      @ChazRegal 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Nayden Spirdonov actually that was the previous German ceo you're referring to. He was given the company as is and look what he's done to keep it alive and hopefully revive it.

      +Nayden Spirdonov People in the UK have no idea that Blackberry still make phones. What planet are you from, us Brits we all know that Blackberry are still trying their best to get on track. If people would only give them a fair crack to get on with it.

      Two things that would have brought them back into the game a few years ago:
      1) Adopt the Android OS onto the Z10 line when they first came out with it. They tried to come back into the hardware business with the release of the Z10, which in my opinion was a great phone when it came out but they should have known using their own OS with limited app choice was going to be a problem since they are catering to an app hungry generation. Great that its now using Android however it's a little two late are people have lost their trust and they messed up their reputation for far too long.
      2) Coming out with great new phone now with Android was great however why would you overprice your phone so much? People need to regain their trust and loyalty in their product regardless of how nice it is, they should have priced it a little lower to get as many of these units into peoples hands. Anyone I know including myself were excited to hear of this release until we heard the cost which was an instant turnoff.
      I wish these two were executed properly as it may have saved the company.. Anyhow I'm an investor of Blackberry and will support them through stocks however I don't think I am in a position to switch from my Galaxy S5 which I purchased used for only $200 and it's giving me everything I need in a phone.

    Blackberry had the idea of making an android based phone two years ago but he spent those two years sorting out the finances of the company and releasing the already developed Blackberry Passport. Shareholders need a little patience; every move the CEO has made so far is a positive in the right direction. JC is a credit to his company!

    Priv? Awesome device! BlackBerry OS10? Most underrated OS on the market. The big problem here is: BlackBerry stood for "outdated", "slow" etc. NOW they are too far ahead and people don't realize how important it is to save their privacy. For example: Twitter alone on Android (and it's by not the "worst" app in terms of privacy) checks your current location at least 360(!) times a day. People just accept it or don't realize what's happening. BlackBerry is the only company on the market that tries make money out of secure solution instead of selling biometric or meta-data. And people laugh about it. :/

    • @AkshayDhargave
      @AkshayDhargave 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Ikr!! People are so ignorant about their Security. They just blindly look past it! All they want is Millions of Apps (which they don't even download)

    • @Slash18622
      @Slash18622 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Akshay Dhargawe You are right! Thanks for your reply! There is only one "Problem" with the Priv right now (until the OS update to Android M will come in early 2016) - DTek will only be able to show you some security leaks. Only in combination with Android M there is a way to stop apps from snooping on you - because then you are able to deny accesses. Until then OS10 is WAY more secure.

      +Ich bins I've ordered my Priv, but it's not for privacy reasons. You seem (and I may be mis-reading you here) to look down at people who don't share your opinion of importance over privacy. I see a lot of this going around - and there's no doubt people are becoming more and more aware of how much they are being tracked. With that said, for me personally - that's irrelevant, and I wouldn't care if every app on my phone kept track of my location down to the second. I'd estimate that about half of everyone who obsesses over privacy actually does so from a privacy-standpoint. The other half have just obediently followed along with the hype without actually having a reason to care.
      Either way, I'm definitely looking forward to my first ever BlackBerry-device. Damn I've missed those physical keyboards!

    • @Slash18622
      @Slash18622 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Marcus Frölander I don't look down on people who don't share my opinion. But "data mining" is the gold of the 21th century. Just go to your neighbors house, open up his mailbox and read his letters - how do you think he will react? And with your smartphone you give away way more than just your "current location";, this is enough to create a pattern of your behavior. It's up to you how important your privacy is to you. I see there a lot of dangers, because you don't know where that information goes and what will be done with it.

    • @Marquuus
      @Marquuus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ich bins I hear what you're saying and respect your opinion - but your argumentation is somewhat flawed. When using different services, I expressely accept my personal information and data to be used - I've never expressely accepted my neighbour going through my mailbox.
      Data-mining is no doubt market that grows exponentially - but it also heavily ties into the comfort of modern day technology. As we rely more and more on IT systems and automate more and more things, the amount of information required to do that grows.
      I've always been of the opinion that if you value your privacy to the extent where you feel it is an invasion of privacy when applications actually use the data that you've expressely accepted them using (through ToS, of course) - then you should avoid using them. There are cellphones without GPS, you can start your own e-mail services, avoid Google services altogether and so on.
      Looking at myself, I am perfectly fine with my data being used, and I trust the companies that I deal with to use it responsibly.
      So, anyhow - months later, still enjoying my BlackBerry Priv! ;)

    The PRIV was my favourite out of the phones I've owned. That slider factor meant having the best of both worlds. You had a beautiful big screen AND a great keyboard. The phone was unfortunately saddled with one of the worst Snapdragons in recent memory, insufficient RAM, and a poor selfie cam. It never stood a chance, but boy was it a delightful phone. It sits proudly on my desk now, displayed for the great design it was.

    I have the Blackberry Priv, & to be honest I'm not a Blackberry fan, I had one Blackberry some years back, but never took to it. I liked it, well built good performance etc. In the meantime I've had Samsung's HTC's, Motorola, even an iphone, & 2 Sony Xperia's, which were awesome by the way. However, this phone is an awesome beast in every sense. What I like most about is, right in the front it's business, everything catered for, even your name on the office door. But, at the back you have a full blown party going on with all the apps, I'd say this is an Android upgrade in every sense. It's Fantastic.

      A fun demonstration would be a head to head between a passport and a priv to see which ine gets hacked first, plus while definetely dryer, the apps for blackberry for productivity are just better. Sadly, its very likely thr passport will be the last bbos phone ever. Go out with a bamg is better than whimpering off like nokia did, but still...
      I just wish BBRY had embraced Snap and made something like a modular store that grouped all the shops in a single place and made the amazing emulation capabilities more accesible to the normal user.

Got the PRIV, just love it :) Would have loved to hear more on which platform the company would focus in the future I.e. android or theirs own OS10.

  • @dl-12388

    John Chen should really fix the problems that plagued BlackBerry 10 to make it relevant again and usable again like fix the app gap properly (not with Android apps but native versions of the popular apps) and by adding new features not in addition to features that other OS platforms already have. He should also try and get the platform to a point where it will be able to regain traction in the enterprise and consumer spaces. It will be difficult for sure given what happened in the past when Thorstein Heins was CEO and completely screwed up the launch of BlackBerry 10. John Chen should also work on making BlackBerry Messenger better and competitive to other messaging options.

    If and only they have made Z10 an Android phone, they could have had the highest share in the market today. Then Q10 and the likes can remain in BB10 and still live the BB legacy as we all BB users and many businessmen love. The only way to revive BB is to fuse Android and BB together in a business class fashion, retain and improve the BB10 way by modifying it like what Samsung did, and lower the price. Remember the concept of value in economics.

    Personally I love Apple products, especially the MacBook Pro and iMac. Even though I also do like the iPhone, I have to say I prefer Android because it's more of an open platform compared to the iOS. As a media producer, the only reason I didn't go with the Priv was because of it's camera and not with the iPhone because of it's restrictive platform, iOS. Privs camera was just not really up to my expectations compared to Samsung GS3, Sony Xperia, iPhone 6S or Google Nexus.
    If Blackberry come up with a similar phone with a competitive camera like the Samsung, Apple or Sony, then I will definitely go with Blackberry! ( I really want Blackberry to come up with a similar phone to PRIV with a better camera though!! )

    Samsung is working with BlackBerry for Security and KNOX is secured bij BlackBerry BES and Google is also working together since end 2014 to get a more secure platform that bugs Google.
    That is why you will see that Android 6 has apps permission and that why it suprised me that the priv is supported by Android 5.1.1. The situation is that Android 6 is not ready and get some extra security that could also controled by DTEK. Google is also in Waterloo since spring to work more with BlackBerry and trust me to say that when BlackBerry start in January with Android 6 Stock Rom it will more clear and you will have a better operating system on your Priv. that is also better secured what apps can do.
    BlackBerry Android Stock Rom has also there own kernel that is build on qprotection a linux kernel that will protect you against rooting or damaging malware. Still you must be aware what kind of apps you install and free apps wil mostly get all your information or worser like Whatsapp get copyright of everything you send like foto's. This is why I , my friends and Family use BBM in the Netlerlands, Australia, Indonesia and Westhoek :)
    O and BB10 will be still there for a ninch market to secure end to end device to the heart, where the Priv will be have a good and high protection level (better than on a Samsung that has lot of security issues) but not like BlackBerry Devices connected wtih BES 12. Alos see on you tube " Blackberry Priv: 10 ways it improves Android " .

    Hated android from day dot when BlackBerry introduced OS 10 ,i saw this was the way. If they go the android only way then I'll need to find an operating system other than the main 2 . Possibly the linex OS. They also have swipe and multitasking.

    One BIG problem: most of the people (90%) don't mind about privacy. They are looking for some cool gadgets with best hardware, camera, selfie camera, and some cool features as finger point security etc...so, I'm not sure about big sales for PRIV. :/

      +MicheGuzzo - bn - That's right a lot of fools I can say the 80 % of the planet so the problem with blackberry is no their device and their OS Both are amazing the problem is simple stupidity vs intelligence just like that.

    "New platform"? If you're investing in the development of a new platform why giving up on bb10 and going to android now?

    • @CharlieHipHop
      @CharlieHipHop 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think they'll give up on BB10. I will still be required in high-security environments. Governments don't want to be sending all their data off to Google or the hipster app du jour. There are also people like me who prefer it. Hopefully they use some of the Priv Mojo to market their own OS a bit.

    They should develop a better software from the one used in Classic and forget about this Android adventure. An improved and updated version of Classic is what the users of BB are expecting. I decided to stop using a G. Note II as my primary phone (more as a tablet now) because of issues with updates, unnecessary apps and the like. Probably won't get a new BB if they continue in this Android path.

    If only BB10 OS was android all along. I loved BB10 OS but it never lived up to its potential. Thankfully iOS is getting a lot of influence from BB10/Playbook OS.
