A tip is to remove the plastic shroud surrounding the base (first remove the seat). With this shroud removed, you can see the heads of two long parallel rods protruding the base, one in the front and one in the back. These are seated in plastic brackets which is causing the squeaks, spray these with oil and the sound stops. If you keep the shroud off you can spray these points in the future without having to remove the seat.
This noisiest of all chairs has been doing my head in for some time but, thanks to this video, I am once again in a good place, and my office has been spared the results of what would have been a catastrophic explosion of rage. Forever grateful Nick Donnelly..
Exactly what I'm looking for! I opened it up just like you instructed, put some oil on the spring in mid front, for me the spring was surrounded by white plastic. Hope that can help someone save a bit of time. Cheers!
while try looking on the sides, i have a gaming chair and I had to remove plastic covers on sides and play with it until it didn't make any annoying sounds, it's like something is cracking up. but that only counts if you go back and forth and back again when you try to lean back. but if you hear those sounds when you move physically with your chair or spinning around,then check the bottom at the center under wheels, there may be one clip. for me you can check on gaming chairs and you will find more, if those may be similar
Just got the Markus a couple days ago and mine is doing it too. But only when I have it in the upright position and get up or lean forward and then sit back. If it's set to recline all the way it doesn't do it, so I think it has to do with the "back stop"... Either way it's super frustrating and I'm about to drive back to the store and test the floor model to see if it does it as well, or it's just my chair.
Yes it would work fine, but baby oil, car oil or bicycle oil would be even better. Ideally, if your good access to the areas that are rubbing, you should use car grease to make the fix permanent.

Such a simple fix, thank you! I found that it was one of the parts near the front of the chair that was squeaking. A little oil and presto!

Aye thanks man, I was about to disassemble it way too much. Sprayed all of it with some silicone spray and that's that.
