If you watch all of MW’s 911 videos in order they all say “until the advent of the current 911, all previous models exhibited a tendency to snap oversteer…”
My dad could never afford a car, and the first and only bike he bought me was a second hand red bmx with red and yellow padding, at the flee market, which to me was a like an exotic sports car back then and I would look after like that. Good memories.
This was and still is my favorite 911, the low slung tail, the gorgeous wheels, that cute yet common face. In '95 my heart used to melt when I saw one of these, especially in red or silver, while I was driving my '76 car, which it self was a rare 'muscle' car.
The 993 was the car I lusted for in High School. I was watching prices throughout the early 2000’s waiting for them to depreciate into my $30k range. They got down to the low 40’s around the 2008 financial crisis and have skyrocketed since. So much for that dream.
Why do you bad mouth Porsch in the first place? Porsch depending on which model your choice from. Maybe depanding which model your choice from can be cheap excepted the 911! The 911 ALWAYS you cost much more than the cheaper models! My Favor Porsch was any of the 928 models and trim line is in my hearts! My late father own Brand New a 1960'sh 356 C hardtop and my uncle had a 365 D more like a racing sport car. I was born in July 1969. All I do rember was it wasn't met to be like a family car. My dad 365 C was Sliver, and My Uncle was Red!
Yeah, in the early 2000s I got a used C5 Corvette convertible, but at the dealer they had some Porches as well, and for the $35k I was spending, if you wanted Porsche, you were getting a slow Boxster that didn't even look good. Had they had a 911 in that range I would have at least given it a look, but even the cheapest used one was in the 40s.
The 993 C4S was my favorite 993. Beautiful body, just enough power, outstanding brakes, those perfect doors . . . If it’s possible to love a door, then these are marriage material.
The Porsche 993 should've been in production from 1995-2005. I think it's safe to say nobody would really shed a tear if the 996 wasn't introduced in '99 SO soon after the nearly perfect 993 was introduced in '95. The 996 has grown on me, but it pales in comparison to the 993 or 997.
Back in the 1990's the 911 was very round and happier comparing the past 911! Today 911 of 2023 is more advents is a whole bunch of safety items and can be a Hybrid or all electoral or who knows in the future it can fly?
The 996 was actually quite a bit lighter and more nimble than the 993. Virtually all contemporary reviews reported much improved performance, from driving/handling dynamics to acceleration. Crazy I know. I would still pick the 993 if given the choice
@@georgecarlin2097 if only the 996 had the looks of the 993. at least the 997 got things back on track. the 991 and 992 look even better to my eye, but they're huge. still, all are tremendous cars.
993’s bank vault build quality and industrial strength interior materials didn’t make it to the 996 though. Find a 996 today and slam the door on that versus a 993 and it will tell you all you need to know. Not hating on 996’s as I’ve had several and am a big fan of them
I don't notice any issue with solid sound when shutting my door on my car. Maybe it does affect all? I have a very high optioned '03 996 C4 Cab with X51 power package, full carbon fiber interior, sport exhaust, Carrera wing, aero package. Love the car. It's a blast to drive. I don't think I'm missing anything that a 993 would give me, other than resale value. I'm a fan of all 911s though.
@@dfk09 That true, Mine was not a 911 love but mine was a discounted Porsch 928 any trim works for me but needs to be in auto no stick! My late father and uncle both had 356 sport cars. My dad had a 356C hardtop in sliver and my uncle had a 356D more a race car in red!

Still love the styling of this car even 27 years later.
So does Porsche, that's why it hasn't changed.
@@bghoody5665 It’s gotten bigger but overall the same design. I like this smaller version better.
Ngl this is my fav gen of porsche, especially the gt2 spec
Cute and friendly looks. That has changed IMHO…

My dad’s first 911 was a 95 C4 Coupe so this clip is a real treat.
My dad's first 911 was a 00 C2 Coupe with amber turn signals! His second was an 03 911 Turbo. I still miss the latter to this day forever and ever.
My dad could never afford a car, and the first and only bike he bought me was a second hand red bmx with red and yellow padding, at the flee market, which to me was a like an exotic sports car back then and I would look after like that. Good memories.
My dad killed himself and we grew up in poverty. But good to know there were some rich kids out there enjoying themselves.
@hey it's pete god bless.
"But with the big anti-lock equipped disk hauling it smoothly down from 60 and an average of 103 ft, Who cares!" -John Davis 1995
I think this is the prettiest 911. It’s simple and sleek, even elegant. Finally, I think it still looks contemporary.
22mpg average is quite nice For a car in this class especially for the time
Been watching Motorweek since 1981 and couldn't wait for Saturday to come.

993 to me is peak 911😍
I'm gonna be saving this one for dinner time. The highest honor a TH-cam video can have. lol

@@sutterpark I believe there is something lost in translation. I am saying that I really liked the 1995-1998 Porsche 911. I am not bad mouthing it.
964 depreciated even harder. Now they're both sick expensive. And will definitely still raise in value. These are very special cars.

This is what comes to mind when I think of Porsche. Love these.
I've a 1996 993 C2, iris blue metallic, 60,000 miles, 6-speed manny tranny. No CEL, no oil leaks. I'm never gonna sell it!
This is my favorite generation of the 911, both because of its design and the fact it had the last air-cooled engine.
The pinnacle of old and new. Wonder why 993s are so valuable?! Look no further! You don't need the Turbo!
The power numbers don't put my 968 to as much shame as I thought.
Still want one.
I hope you kept your 968. They didn't sell many of them, which makes them rare now!

LOVE the Porsche 993!💥🔥💥
Great driving 993.
Lightweight no need for AWD though.
Last of the aircooled.
Love these retro car reviews!
makes you appreciate cars being unique vs everything being cookie cut and boring now
Ironic that good examples of 964's and 993's are now way more expensive than when they were new.
Price is the equivalent of 128k in todays money
I'm exactly as old as this car! Lol! Nostalgia!
Honestly impressive af it had an automatic spoiler back then...
The retracting spoiler was introduced in 89 with the 964 model
Looks good going through the slalom.
the music that starts 42 seconds in is daytona track from the audio library cd KOK2073 - Travellin' USA
What track was that playing at 4:17? Groovy
Nice touch with Kraftwerk Autobahn song. ;)
RIGHT?! I came to the comments immediately to see who else called this out xD

Still my favorite body style.
Such a beautiful Ride 😍

1995 was the last year of ODB1, then came ODB2 in 1996.
Some things never change. Like the fact that this car would still for 65k today.

That was the last 911 I liked, before it turned into an overweight, and middle-aged GT. But the prior model (964-C4) hit the sweet spot best for me.

Best color for 911, white
Best colour for scores of cars, white.
Best color for 911 and worst color for G80 M3/G82 M4 - White.
