I’ve been reading manga for a minute… My first manga was Vinland Saga, my second manga was Vagabond… I read them both again recently and I swear I never had a more therapeutic/life changing experience before from any piece of content. I definitely think the themes of those stories mislead people. They’re ultimately philosophical stories about love, life, and death. Both cleared so much fog in my brain.
this is where the shonenhead in me comes out: i watched the first season of vinland saga and it didn't resonate. as for vagabond, i like it! i caught up completely and adored the art but that is the most i came away with it. the sasaki kojiro arc was great though, im surprised i was able to stay captivated on an arc for someone not even the MC! fan or not, it's a shame we will likely never see the series finished as a whole, outside that "final chapter".
@@ptown7205 On my reread, I kept thinking of Kojiro as the second protagonist. Honestly on the reread, I thought I was starting to like Kojiro too much… I thought I wouldn’t connect as well with Musashi after his arc ended. I honestly didn’t enjoy Vagabond as much the first time I read it, but lately Stoicism and Buddhism have been interesting to me, so the 2nd read was like a whole different experience
@@ohIear i haven't really had the chance to reevaulate my lesser opinions on manga that ive already read cuz im more focused on new reads especially since that makes for more interesting tierlists aha.
I love the Ajin praise… It and Deadman Wonderland are 2 of the most underrated series of all time. It’s weird how other series similar to them were so popular, while they suffered. I also loved the Ajin anime, but mostly because of the sound design. It was so immersive with headphones.
both are so good and consistent i would hardly have any shortcomings for either. i might consider checking out the ajin anime but i heard deadman wasn't all that...
@@ptown7205 Deadman Wonderland anime was a bit underwhelming, and the Ajin anime isn’t up to par with the manga either… But I still enjoyed Ajin the anime. You should know if it’s worth watching after you finish the first episode. The animation is a turn off for some, for me it wasnt
@@ohIear i have been slacking on anime recently as ive reached the point where ive felt like ive watched everything i was interested in seeing. i tend to prefer the manga over anime most of the time apart from individual cases like naruto. but i will definitely consider it as my friend really liked ajin and never read the manga
@@ptown7205 I like manga and anime separately tbh, they’re such different experiences. Reading manga for me is more engaging usually, but there’s nothing like starting a new anime and finding out it’s incredible. I slept on Chainsaw Man so hard, then I watched all of it in one sitting. There isn’t even a crazy plot to it from what I’ve seen so far, it’s just a fun group of people and a weird chaotic world. I haven’t touched the manga and I don’t think I will, i just hope they have a 2nd season as good as the 1st.
My top 10 is: 1) Goodnight Punpun 2) Innocent Rouge 3) The Climber 4) Homunculus 5) Innocent 6) Berserk 7) Girls' Last Tour 8) Land of the Lustrous 9)A Girl on the Shore 10) bibliomania Shout out to one piece for barley not making it at 11th ❤
I respect your list, I also cosign Kengan Ashura if you’re an MMA fan, but I also strongly recommend Hajime no Ippo and Baki: The Grappler. I think while Hajime no Ippo is about boxing, I would suspect it fits more with what a new reader of manga might be anticipating. I was into MMA before manga, but Hajime no Ippo was the only thing that blended those 2 worlds together for me in my head. I think tournament arcs do the same thing for me lol. Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, DBS for the Tournament of Power… Even Record of Ragnarok can be similarly enjoyable to an MMA fan.
ippo fatigued me but ultimately made my list as the highs are pretty damn high. as for baki, ive enjoyed the first two series but didn't quite break my top 30. as an mma fan, teppu resonated most.
@@ohIear i love it! don't go in expecting a baki or ippo but for me the screen kind of disappeared and it was like reading very realistic mma fights. it was my blended mma/manga experience but in a visually realistic way.
I am new to your channel so i was kinda surprised to see hell paradise at no. 1, i only recently started reading manga hell paradise is my 3rd i read and as its in my top 10 series , i really enjoyed the art , fights and characters it kinda put me off with the last volume but overally 8/10 solid series for me btw i am a bleach fan love to see you putting only bleach as one of the big 3 in the list and heres a recommendation for you id you want more stories like onani master kurosawa read aku no hana (flower of evil)
yea jigo being my favorite is a very biased pick, but glad you liked it too! And yea I'm kind of tired of the Big 3 wars online like I'm very happy to have three cakes lol. And thanks for the rec!
Ajin and spy x family in a top 5 is great. my fav manga is One piece :) very basic haha. also glad to see kengan ashura so high up too. Grand Blue also one of my favs but started to lose love for it :c
Yoooo this list is amazing bro! Bastard is such an underrated series, I really wish it got an English physical release.
aw fam appreciate the support! You know, with manwhas like solo leveling or windbreaker getting physicals, it's not impossible for Bastard!

You should read the boxer, it’s a manga about, well boxing and as a boxer myself I think it’s very realistic in its themes but not in sport
i have read the boxer! stay tuned for my end of the year "first read" manga tier lists I do and the boxer will make an appearance there. it's good.

i’m considering checking out the one piece manga! i stopped watching the anime after dressrosa. seems you got some taste too!
