    Looks great. Excellent demonstration. If sub-moa isn't great shooting then I am baffled. Thank you for content.

    I love the EC tuner/brake. You can only play with seating depth so much with a gas gun so the tuner/brake is extremely helpful.

      I find it easier to play with the tuner vs. seating depth. No tools needed to adjust the tuner. Need a press to adjust seating depth. I have found the tuner easier to "tune" than seating depth alone.

      I’ve got a V2 on my CZMTR .22 it’s amazing. I ordered a 2nd one for my 6ARC hoping to find the best powder bullet combo quicker. 1st Find the bullet powder combo with low SD desired velocity then load up 15-20 and shoot them with the tuner. That will show you the best accuracy you can expect from the load in one range session.

    Thanks for showing your work. More and more this is looking like a good investment for one of my rifles.

    Nice test and thanks for the info. Can’t wait to try my EC tuner brake out.

    Love to see you take 2, 10 shot groups. One with the best setting and one with the worst setting.

      Not a bad idea for a retest.

      Agree. That will better show what's truly going on.

    I work in 2 line increments, and I am looking for the bullets going into a single bullet hole. You are working with a bell curve on tuners. The groups will be open, then close up for a couple of increments, then start opening back up. If you keep working your tuner out, you will find several Nodes, but you want the Node with the widest adjustments where perhaps 4-6 increments on the tuner is shooting tiny groups.
    With all my tuners, I always start off with the tuner screwed to the rear. Also, shooting a hot barrel can skew results, I cool the barrel with 50/50 water/alcohol on a wash rag, water dripping off the bottom of the barrel.
    OP, with your 147, if the barrel does not like this bullet, I would highly recommend the 140g Hornady bthp, and this is a very, very accurate bullet and much easier to tune vs the 147...barrels will like what they like.

    You are supposed to move the tuner two numbers at a time. That rifle don’t look like it ejects very good

  • @michaelangelino3189
    @michaelangelino3189 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Put it on position 1, and do seating depth testing. That should really help to get the best out of that particular load. Thanks for showing this process.

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  ปีที่แล้ว

      wouldn't changing seating depth following tuning on the tuner defeat the purpose of this tuner setting. Both are essentially changing the same thing?

    • @sergeantdwz5783
      @sergeantdwz5783 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rob's Reloading you still want to do the seating depth test first with your tuner on zero. Then once you achieve your best seating depth that's when you play with the tuner. You don't have to go to every number on the tuner either. Go by 2's until you get 2 in a row that should good. Split the difference and see how it shoots

    That's awesome on number 2 I'm probably going to buy a tuner My HMR drives me nuts with its 1.25 to 1.50 groups with my reloads and 1/2 " with precision hunter with the eldx.

      Clean the barrel. My hmr only shoots well with the barrel clean.

    • @UponGiantsShoulders
      @UponGiantsShoulders ปีที่แล้ว

      Clean the barrel and test bullet depths beyond mag length. I do have a couple nodes inside mag length but my best accuracy is ~10-30 thou off lands.

  • @rustynut1967

    It's recommended adjusting in increments of 2 for initial tuner test.

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried the increments of 2 and that was the only test I found disappointing results. For what I am looking for "practical accuracy" I have been able to adequately tune each rifle/load without going past 4-5 on the tuner. I'm sure this isn't the "Best Tune" but will work for my intended purposes.

    Do you always go from the same direction to the number.
    So if number 1 gives a good group and you try other numbers, do you return to number 1 from the same direction, as at the beginning,(going over it and then back) or does it matter a lot?

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the tuner is able to go multiple revolutions. So in this case when I retested 0 and 1 I tested the same position. If I went a full revolution I would get to a different 0 and 1.

    I have a DOZEN EC TUNER BRAKES MULTIPLE CALIBERS.
    I GET TO ACCURACY JUST LIKE YOU. SHOOT TWO SHOTS. IF SMALL 2 SHOT GROUP. SHOOT 3 MORE. TOTAL FIVE SHOT PER SETTING ONLY IF THE ORIGINAL FIRST 2 SHOTS WERE TOUCHING. IF 2ND SHOT IS GREATER THAN QUARTER INCH... I MOVE TO NEXT SETTING.....IE. 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16. I CAN ALWAYS GO BACK.
    BUTT, A FIVE SHOT GROUP...WILL BE REPEATABLE, RELIABLE..
    WHEN HUNTING...SOMETIMES THE FIRST SHOT IS ALL YOU WILL GET.......

    Cool, I'd like to get a tuner for one of my rifles.
    I'd be curious to see how the ES changed from group to group also.

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  ปีที่แล้ว

      With being 3 shot groups do not think this was enough data to gather any relevant information from.

    • @reloadingfun
      @reloadingfun ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rob's Reloading with the thousands and thousands of rounds I've chronographed, that does not appear to be a completely accurate statement.

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reloadingfun well really these all being the same load and nothing changing but tuner setting. The overall 15 shot sd and es should tell us a lot more than the 3 shot es sd.

    • @reloadingfun
      @reloadingfun ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rob's Reloading seeing how or if the different settings effect ES is what I was referring to. Of course it's a small sample, and would require many more rounds to come to a somewhat definite conclusion. But seeing what each setting produce would be the start of that and allow you to see a trend. Which, trends can be very helpful when doing load development.

    Did you have to get the barrel cut to accommodate the tuner brake?

  • @justice1327

    Why do you consistently have extraction/ ejection problems?

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Neither of my savages will consistently eject. My Bergerara usually doesn't cause these issues. I honestly think it's the way I run the bolt when shooting from a bench. I am attempting not to let the brass fly off the bench. It seems sometimes my hand gets in the way of the round clearing the action and often bounces back into the action. My bench is on an elevated platform and if cases roll off the bench they often end up in grass and hard to locate. The only rifle I have that consistently ejects in my seekins. It seems to have very strong ejection and will throw cases pretty far if I am not careful.

    • @briansmith2616
      @briansmith2616 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobsReloading I'm seeing that issue on guns that have optics with large windage turrets. I slowed down your video but can't tell if that's your issue because your hand is in the way. Seems to be more common on bolts with m16 style extractors. If it does it with the scope off, there's' your culprit.
