    Jungle has been my favorite genre since I first heard it around 8 years old. Something about the 90s Jungle sound alwaysalwaysalways gives me the best feelings of both nostalgia and future optimism simultaneously. Will never ever get old. Its like going back to my childhood and into the future together.
    Anyway LOVIN these videos my friend, subbed. Thank you for these. Very well edited too.

    Oh, you nailed it with your tune, too. 👌 Fierce drums, sweet pads.
    Nice work on the Digitone, sometimes I think I overlook how you can get really great sounds on it with even just a few small tweaks from the default patch!
    Were you triggering the DT with midi from your DAW, and then re-routing the audio back into a seperate channel? Do you get any latency with this set up?

    • @groovining
      @groovining  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Digitone has an amazing sound. Yea for sure, easy to try make the patches too complex as its so powerful. I love all the modulation options with Mod wheel, Pitch Bend, aftertouch. Goes great with a distortion/saturation pedal for the little hint of analog warmth.
      I was just using overbridge in Logic to trigger the Digitone. It actually runs through Logic's Plugin Delay compensation so latency is minimal. You don't even need to route it, just have the digitone plugin open. I do bounce the tracks down though so I don't lose the performances. Also I sometimes just record the live takes of me playing with the settings live.✌️😊

    Hey, thank you for sharing your knowledge so far - this honestly means a lot, I love your channel. I have one particular request though, I can't wrap my head around one specific pad. This pad is from 'Skee Mask - Kozmic Flush'. Do you have any idea how that one was made? I can clearly hear that it's a bunch of sine and saw waves going through filter, but those glassy tones and lush highs.. I can't figure that out. Yet.
    Thank you!

    • @groovining
      @groovining  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea its a tune that actually, never heard it before! Well I can clearly hear the layering on that pad. The first chord is clean and the second is layered with something more mid/low range. Like a new sound layer entirely to give it that depth.
      I could get something pretty close to this using FM synthesis on a sine wave, adding sutble harmonics like I did in this video.
      The key to this sound is in the harmonics, filters, layering on top of a sine/triangle layer. maj min7/9 chords

  • @Phear0w
    @Phear0w ปีที่แล้ว

    Really cool ✌️struggled with pads on the digitone before but this sounds really good. One question tho, did you sample the digitone in this project? Because you use a lot more notes than what the digitone can handle, especially if you use unison

    • @groovining
      @groovining  ปีที่แล้ว

      I need to make a full video on Digitone pads because it's amazing for them. I often start with more of a subtractive approach. Make a really harmonically rich saw/square sound and then use the filters etc. to smooth it out. Yea it's only 4 voices with 2 unisons so it was missing out a note on all those chords. I didn't actually resample it but only realized whilst editing the video :) ✌

      Ha sorry to give you GAS! I do love my Digitone, it's such a fun sound design tool. I use mine a lot and often run it through some analog-style pedals to beef it up. Also resample it into my EMU e5000. It's great for pads and atmos specifically. ✌🥷

    The bit where u add the harmonics confused me a little bit, i dont exactly know what ur editing cuz i dont know how ur synth works so could u maybe explain how ur exactly adding those harmonics in depth?

    • @groovining
      @groovining  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you break a sine wave down, it's essentially just a pure tone at the fundemental freqeuncy of the note you play. What's cool with sine waves is you can distort them to add more harmonics above the fundemental frequency. In essence you can take a sine and make it more like a square or saw wave. The harmonics control in the Digitone is a little different from using distortion or saturation as its an FM synth but its a similar idea.

    Would you be able to recreate this in Serum, Vital or FM8? I tried to follow along and failed miserably :(

    • @groovining
      @groovining  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In Serum I would use, 2 voice unison on a single sine wave osc. Then dial in FM from B with that on a sine also, Turn the volume of the Osc Off. The pitch warbling is harder in serum but I think it has a chaos modulation source which would be similar to a random wave. Chorus + reverb from the effects and you're basically there. Then add Fm amount & chaos amount to a macro or the mod wheel. I think the distortion + filter drive in Serum is not great for creating harmonics like the Digitone Drive is. To get a more buzzy/driven sound. Try using a saw/square wave in OSC B - Here is a patch example :) drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VGh0aBtZuyeKXihLIxahvCcoCBEBFqcD?usp=sharing
