    Love how you explain everything so clearly to us landlubbers, Gus. I'm sure 1 reason why your channel has grown is cos you appeal to the non-diving community, though I read that many have been inspired to take up scuba/cave diving/get certified. That must make you so proud. Anyways, loved these vids of you guys having fun & seeing slumbering turtles. Wow. Didn't get introduced to the alien though!

    Had no idea about the effect rebreathers have on buoyancy, super cool. Woody looked very zen hovering right on by. I have a whole week of dives coming up, my first non-OW course rec dives and first ocean dives. Thanks for the breakdown, idk about others but this is valuable to me to see things like finning techniques, seeing what currents look like. Things you probably rarely actively think about but occupy a lot of my mind!

    Lol gus i legit heard woody say clear as day (awe its tiny) that is hilarious how ever I will say most can find and hit the bigger one, it takes skill to find and hit a smaller target lol any way this video was awesome I will say it like this. This is a smaller dive channel yet imo one of the best out there, only one I keep coming back to and always leaving with either a smile, some good points and tips or both from people I can actually take seriously, absolutely no shade on anyone or specific channels, but I've seen some hilarious bad videos I've never felt like that in this community and I appreciate it. Always looking forward to this channels uploads. Please keep up the awesome work guys it's not un noticed.

    This is more of a request, if at all possible, at some point can you do an episode about KISS rebreathers in more detail? e.g. what happens if you're not in trim (turn sideways, turn upside down, or feet down)? does it affect your breathing? buoyancy? how do you control your buoyancy when on rebreather? what happens if you clear your mask? what happens when you descend? does your counterlung put pressure on your breathing? etc. etc.

    The deepest dive I’ve been on according to my watch is just over 50m… I was in the bath tub. I had a watch that was supposed to be able to go down to that depth even though I don’t dive those watches tend to be tough and I can wear them all the time. I took it back to the shop and told them I apparently had a very deep bath.

    Man 13:15 and 13:25 you mention twice/both times that Open Circuit divers run out of air!! Firstly they don't run out of air (not unless they've been complacent or had a serious failure), they hit their pre defined reserve, and planned to return to the service once they reached that reserve, not run out of air! Secondly, in Tec Diving in the UK, we normally refer to it as 'Gas', as its less specific, for example those divers who as you stated 'ran out of air' may have in fact been diving Nitrox and not Air.... I realise I'm being pedantic with both of those issues, however that 1st one 'running out of air' I think is important to clarify, as you don't need to invest in closed circuit rebreathers to avoid running out of air!! (Gas! 🤣)

    Question around 7:54min into the video you are showing the controller for the breather, it is showing CC ( closed circuit) but the 21/00 (O2/He) isn’t that the gas you have in yr tanks to mix the gas? Or did u changed the setup screen that it’s showing Bailout? Just wandering because it’s different on my screen 🧐😅

    • @DIVETALK
      @DIVETALK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s the mix I had for diluent. I also have 100% o2. So I’m mixing air and o2 throughout the dive and making the best Nitrox mix for any depth I’m in at all times.
      Pretty cool huh?

  • @maxtorque2277
    @maxtorque2277 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can really see the advantage of CCR here! You computer shot at 12:36 shows PPO2 of 1.36 bar abs and you're at 57 feet depth (ambient 2.73 bar abs), so your O2 concentration is pretty much 50%, meaning the remainder (no HE in your diluent) is Nitrogen, and hence your EAD in terms of Nitrogen partials is just 24 feet deep! No wonder your NDL is off-scale-high
    Basically, continuous optimum nitrox blending as you dive :-)

I totally love those folks that checked on me, great folks. I want to get deeper, longer, and not constantly straining to stay down (I'm more Gus shaped than Woody shaped). hopefully my meds don't totally prevent me, because you guys have totally convinced me to try.

    Finally!! Super awesome upload Gus! Love the commentary and the information during the dive! AMAZING, No wonder you're hitting 18k after hitting 10k couple weeks ago! Congrats! and i would love to see more editing and maybe adding like your image in the corner with notes that contain whatever you feel like sharing about the vid or something, just so your videos become personalized and people would recognize a dive talk video without the need of sound even, So whether it's downloaded or happen to be found randomly, it's a special style of videos that would lead to this channel.
    More contents more often! Hell of a job Gus, Love it.

    Do you always carry a regular tank when diving a rebreather? Or only when overhead environment? Think I would always want a spare tank when on a rebreather just in case…

    • @DIVETALK
      @DIVETALK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Always. I carry two when I go Cave Diving.

    I gotta ask, what do you do with the lionfish? Do you cook them up since theyre edible, or just spear them?

    Ap Inspiration, "yellow box of death." just kidding, all rb's are designed to keep divers alive. And brand loyalty as well as brand bashing is part of the diving fun. Me? Divesoft Liberty rebreather is the best of course. But all Shearwater controlled rebreathers are awesome even if mine doesn't use shearwater for rebreather control.

      Brand bashing? We've never bashed a brand on the show - other than SpareAir, those things are useless

    No stinkin way.... You guys dove the four corridors? I have a few dives there as well. I had no idea you guys went to West Palm.... Did you dive with Pura Vida(Yes, you did, watched more into the video, love those guys, they are an AWESOME crew)? I saw the ship and my gut was SCREAMING at me that I had been there before... Also, the governors riverwalk is my FAVORITE site in west palm so far, I watched two sharks swim in formation there, unreal.

      @@DIVETALK For sure, they have always been a pleasure to dive with. I dove that same four corridors wreck with them, and I looked up and it felt like there were as many fish as there were stars in the sky, reminds of that one bible verse: "Genesis 26:4 - I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed," which I learned funnily enough from Resident Evil. I am not necessarily religious myself(agnostic), but every time I look at the frame I pulled when I panned up during that dive it reminds of that verse.

    Cool to see how you deal with lionfish - I was wondering how you handled the bodies since the only thing I know about them is through the aquarium hobby that they're venomous, so figured you couldn't just stick them on a rope like other fish.

    @09:49 So that's how divers ascent and descent , breath in and breath out.. I thought the wings control everything.
