Clearly Jaishankar has been the best speaker here. Japan and Australian FM’s have ducked the actual question and have answered pretty vaguely. Wonder why ? They are not calling out the elephant in the room either. Perhaps a group decision ? Jaishankar clearly leading this discussion too with absolute clarity. But would have loved to see others expressing a bit more.
All were good. The Australian FM's lighthouse analogy and blinken's comment on quad providing a choice to the region provided much clarity regarding the grouping
Western journalists ask hard hitting questions to our FM & other ministers on Russia, democracy… but here no one asked tough questions to US sec about hypocrisy on Pakistan….
Why give Pakistan the space through our questions? India is a big power and Indian questions should focus on big power politics. Not weak bankrupt States like Pakistan.
@@shambhavinambiar4183 Sorry, you missed the point. A chance for the Indian journalist to question the Western leaders the way our leaders get treated when are in the West. Jihadists have no role.
ORF seems baised. Where are hard questions for USA? 1). gun violence 2). Crimes related to Syria, LYBIa, Iraq, Iran etc. 3) coup of 2014 in Ukraine. 4) Arming Ukraine but baffled by Cuban missile crisis. 5). Playing police but being the perpetrators of laws. And thousand more.
Quad is important for the greater good of ASEAN, Pacific Rim and IOR. Strategic engagement with concrete action is more important while Military (exercises/exchanges) should be vital but secondary, ongoing and effective. AUKUS type arrangement is more suited to pure Military purposes and it is an open question for India to join. I presume India is more-sensitive to formal Military architectures, which is okay as long as India aggressively pursues core capabilities (SSNs, Military Aircraft Engines etc.) separately with US, France, UK, Japan, Russia and others, but essentially in an domestic (military-industrial complex) manner. Nevertheless, India must pursue reciprocal enhanced Military engagement with Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Japan, Korea in Indo-Pacific, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Thailand, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Madagascar in IOR, and UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kenya and others in MENA.
I think we need to understand what is QUAD, the relation between Japan and US, Australia and US. Japan is pretty much a semi vessel state of the US, it has a military that is directly under the control of the US and does what US wants it to do. Australia's relationship with the US is similar to its relationship with UK,, a client state that does pretty much what it is asked by the US, it is pretty much without an independent foreign policy outlook. The only countries that have an independent foreign policy are the US and India. The only reason this group existed is because US need India to play its part to contain China. When the US talks about rule and order it is merely rule written by the US for other to obey.
Recently Australian voted for wrong foreign policy of their previous regime they voted for labour party which is more cooperative towards china.united states try to promotes democracy everywhere. India and japan are imidiate neighbors of china and they had high current account deficit with china so a wrong move create a new naval group with china ,Russia and North korea and that's create a new conflict on indo pacific

It means when India will get attacked no one will come physically, it also means when others are going to war, India won't have too. History tells us those who have been away from the war until extremely necessary, has been able to become powerful in the damaged world example is USA itself.
