    I apologize for the weird sound this week. Everything is trial and error just like quilting.
    Sorry about the end being cut off. I pressed a button trying to remove my phone from the tripod. Please join me on Saturday July 20th at 11:00 am Arizona time. We will be working on my MSQC US Map. Please let me know here in the comments where you live (state). That will help me be prepared ahead of time for Saturday. Thanks!
    Do you use design boards? th-cam.com/video/U0HLswv8W34/w-d-xo.html

    Loved seeing so many different items today - your projects, postcards, pouches with bunting, and lastly all those lovely blocks for the community quilt! Seeing the mini bunting has given me the idea to put some on my 'thai' wall hanging, so thanks for that. I'll pop in to your 'live' at the weekend to see what's going on with your US map project 🤩

    I have lived in Arizona for the past 68 years. I currently live on the east end of the Phoenix metropolitan area (Queen Creek/San Tan Valley).
    As you know from the Flamingo Origami envelope, I fold paper. I started folding in grade school (paper cups, paper airplanes, fortune tellers/cootie catchers) and learned about origami books in junior high school (mid 1960s). I have been fascinated by origami ever since. Origami is useful in so many ways. Learning origami in person is certainly easier than from books.
    I think that I might still have one more unused sheet of the flamingo scrapbook paper. If so, I could bring it to your side of the valley some time convenient to both of us.
    When my daughter is off from work, I will check if she has the quilt projects, or photos of them, that were the source of the scraps.
    Monday the fabric postcard arrived in the mail for sending the quilt blocks. I love the sun and moon on the blue background. Blue is my favorite color. I am glad that you chose the sea turtle on the blue batik background. Even though it is dark, it is my favorite.
    I have a diy design wall still packed away from the move. I have a smaller dual purpose design/bulletin board on the wall near my sewing machine. I am looking forward to making smaller design boards.
    You have great ideas and make wonderful videos!

      @rsislandcrafts, I sent an email with photos and info on the old projects (fabrics, patterns, and kits purchased from 2011 thru 2022) that the scraps came from. Fabrics came from a variety of kits (Joann's and Craftsy) and a local quilt shop that is unfortunately no longer in existence.

      Everyone has done an amazing job with their blocks. I can choose favorites each week but It is hard to pick even a top three overall. I hope everyone has been enjoying the slow process so far. Just like a quilt it’s slow in the beginning and then Bam! You’re putting the last stitch on the binding. Sad to see It end. 🪡🪡🪡

    Hi Robin... Im here in hot and humid Florida. 🥵 I think your half square triangle pillow came out great. The community quilt is coming along beautifully!! I never tried origami.

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks Laura. I know It sounds crazy but I do miss the Florida humidity. Just a smidge. Mostly I’m missing the rain and how everything greens up after a good afternoon rain. I still watch our local news on TH-cam and they’ve been talking about the humidity a lot so I know it’s been bad there. I hope It eases up a bit soon.

    I have made dress origamis, and for the quilt, use a pool noodle to roll it up. That way, you can keep it safe without folds.😊

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good tip. Thanks! I don’t think a pool noodle is long enough but you can connect two by putting a dowel rod in the center. It also keeps the noodle from bending. Some people tape them together but I don’t have the best luck with tape. It tends to find a way to stick to the things that I don’t want It to stick to 😆

    • @giovannacasadio9600
      @giovannacasadio9600 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rsislandcrafts you could hot glue them together and use a rod, and you can attach the quilt with pins to the noodles.

    hi Robin from California. I have done an origami bag for shopping. It folds neatly into itself and is handy to keep in the car when I run in for a quick item or Two. I also love how the blocks are coming along for your new quilt. You have some great blocks going into this quilt

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I love keeping a fabric bag or two in my car for shopping trips. I usually forget to grab one because I’m currently not using a bag of any kind. I need to correct that soon. I love pulling out a hand made fabric bag when shopping. Silly but It makes me smile 😎

    Your postcards are so pretty! The zipper bags with the bunting were also darling! And the first block you showed was cool too. Everything you do is so inspiring! I really enjoy your wip Wednesday post. They inspire me to get to my 20 plus projects I have laying around. I'm in the DFW area of Texas. I hope you have a great day!

    I love seeing the Community Quilt. Each block is so different showing such varieties of personalities and fabric choices but they work together.
    Do you need more flying geese to put around the edge? Let us know the size that would work best. I love flying geese.
    That square origami that folded together in such a neat way. I’ll try to figure out how it’s done.
    The postcards are beautiful. You have a talent for putting colors together.
    I live in Maine so please include Vacationland in your map.

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks Susan. I’ll add Maine to the list. I’m not sure about the flying geese border size yet. Probably something smaller so they can fly around the quilt. I think 2.5” x 4.5” unfinished would be a good size. That works for one at a time and 4 at a time. I’m writing that down so I don’t accidentally change the size on you 🤣. Colors that’ll work with the blocks already made. Which is basically anything 🤣. Thank you.

      Oh I didn't wait until the end, my suggestion for your temp design wall is Velcro. I don't remember what color your shelves are but just get Velcro to match then stick the soft side on the shelf top and it won't ever bother you. Then the rough side attach to your design wall fabric. Press it on then you might sew a stitch right down the middle 🤷🏼 that way it's removable. If you put two rows of the soft side on top, you could put the rough side on the front bottom so when you fold it up, it has the second row to stick to and keeps all your pins and blocks to the inside. I hope that makes sense... It's actually a great idea and I might steal the entire idea for the front of my shelving. Mine is black and I'll use black Velcro and it won't be noticeable. By using the soft side on the top it won't bother our "bonus boxes" on top 😅

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I go back and forth. A large water bottle is great because I don’t have to refill It as often. But like you said it’s heavy. When you find the perfect water bottle for you then buy five 🤣

      I have a playlist for all of my quilting videos. My WiP Wednesdays videos are basically show and tell for what I’ve worked on the past week. In my quilting playlist I have videos that show from choosing the fabrics to the last binding stitch. Please let me know if you can’t find what you’re looking for. Thanks for watching 🦩
      Eventually my quilt tips will get batting, backing and quilting if they will become mini quilts or wall hangings. If they will be pillow covers then the process is similar but slightly different. I’m collecting pillow tops for a quilted pillow cover series coming soon.
