I frikking love how they wrote JuniorGanchi. I couldn't get a read on him throughout the series and the way he interacted with his friend seemed like he had romantic feelings for him. They finally explored that fully and my mind blew away. Brilliant character-writing.

I don’t know why it is not applauded as it should be. I absolutely loved it. The 80’s and 90’s theme was the charm of it. I loved how Gulshan Devaiah’s character Atmaram creeped me And at the same time kept me on edge. The comic timings of Rajkumar Rao is commendable as always. And the storyline of children was also engaging and funny. It is a total package of old Bollywood vibes which is missing in today’s Bollywood movies.

The main highlight of the shoe in my opinion was the mindbending work of the cast. Yes,it took its time to develop the premise but just after the fourth episode the wait was all worth it. Also,Gulshan Devaiah gave the performance of his lifetime in the last clubbed episode. Raj and DK are so brilliant technically that even a mediocre storyline is overshadowed by a mindbogglingly wonderful screenplay. I still feel this is their best work till date. Yes,the subplots were lesser comparatively but the main narrative was focused upon very well i guess

Honestly i would much prefer a slow burn story instead of web series butchered on editing table. i am honestly and constantly amazed by performances of Gulshan Devaiah in such black comedies like Afsos and G&G but still he is relatively unknown to general audience. For me he is the MVP. His presence is almost haunting and the aura around him created by Raj and DK is very unique for a killer its mix of fact and fantasy with a pinch of mythology and people's paranoia. At this point i am half convinced that he is probably a devil or the vampire in this universe. Cannot wait to see what Raj and DK would do with Citadel.

The series had a great start but I felt somewhat disconnected mid-series. But the last episode was spectacular and totally worth the wait. I watched the entire series in one-go and never felt bored. The cast was awesome, Bunty and Atmaram being my favourite. Love the director duo they never miss.

The first four to five episodes should have been a lot lesser in duration and more crisply edited. It would have eliminated the drag. The last episode was brilliant. Rajkumar Rao was brilliant as well. Just loved him.

Adarsh Gaurav was the best of the lot. He was so nuanced and so conflicted and so very good.
I agree that Raajkunar Rao felt like he came straight from Ludo , ready to do anything for his lady love.
Dulquer Salmaan and Shreya were a disappointment after Chup. They were fab in that movie, and here they were just meh.
The humor and the storyline quality were inversely proportional to each other.

Super fun to watch series with a great cast great storyline. And a satisfying concilusion. Most subplots came to a close however I still feel Lekha being turned on by Tipu's violence is a facade to extract information from him and she might just be a super spy in disguise of a teacher. That would've been a nice twist.

Last year Vikram, this year Jubilee and now Guns and Gulabs - I cant remember any other shows in recent past that lingered in my brain so long !! Masterpiece it is. There is a very famous Bengali writer named Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay whose series of adventure stories was very very popular amongst 90s kids. We all grew up reading those lighthearted surreal adventures set in small towns or villages. He presented those stories in such a unique pseudocomic style that even his most villainous characters seemed to be cute to some extent. Same feel I got in GnG. ❤

Your commentary on the lighting in the series is spot on. Being an OTT release, and watching it on my laptop, it was kind of offputting to squint and trying to adjust the brightness to watch it better, especially the fight and shootout scenes. I do feel some plots were left open ended, like the school kids, Gangu didn't inform the other boys the extra classes offered by Chandralekha.
I felt since the show started with a scene of the 3 boys it would end with that also.
