I'm very disappointed with metazoo and that letter about the closure. Mike was just basically like well thanks guys see yah. He couldn't even address the product that people haven't received and preorderd.
Regardless of the disappointment and anger with metazoos mismanagement. I still plan to collect and complete my sets of past product. And at the very least it will be easier to get the product and individual cards. I'm also eyeing kickstarter boxes whether they go done or up in time.
Yeah Mike just threw his hands up in the air and said F*CK IT in his Metazoo shutting down letter. I still need to finish my CN2 set but it's going to be pretty easy to finish up the set now HAHA Kickstarter boxes and sample Mothman will be the gold standards on if the game has really died in the hearts of fans or not

Not a bad idea - I'll reach out to Jeff and see if he's willing to speak about it but last I spoke with him he didn't want anything to do with Metazoo anymore

To clarify your question about the silver supporter medal only going to people that met Andy: I’ve never been to a MZ event or met/talked to Andy, but I think I can pinpoint how I got mine. One day in the official Discord he posted my “Guide to getting into metazoo in 2023” video in there and said “this guy is awesome, who is this?”Or something to that effect. Despite me having made dozens of other metazoo videos over the course of 6 months or so this is the first video he noticed since it gained good traction. I didnt do much criticism in that video aside from talking about Seance mapping issues. So my theory is in that moment he was keeping a list of people he deemed “supportive” and he liked my one video enough to put me down to receive the silver medal. I wasnt creating any content in October-November 2023 for metazoo, so I think they just sent the medals out based on an older outdated list that was kept.
Thanks for the clarification Pete! As most things with Metazoo, I'm not surprised that their decision was based on arbitrary factors. We can only hope whoever buys out Metazoo, if any, will be more professional in their dealings

Found out about this TCG the other day from all the poketubers so I started looking for cheap product. Bought heavy into sealed boosters and a couple kickstarters for the collection. I’m rooting for metazoo now

I got a silver supporter medal and never really met andy, i met him at moth fest which was the only events i ever went to and i royally pissed him off because i informed them in discord that the tower bundles were missing the packs and the pins and he basically called me a liar.

RIP Metazoo. You got me into it, and I had some great memories playing with Jeff and the gang at our LGS. I had a couple nail biter games at the release events we did. It is a shame it didn't stick, but I got a great year of playing at our store.
The local guys at our store are big into FAB so maybe ill switch to that one haha.

Okay, I gotta say it here: Afton's art for: Pink Mothman Plushie with button eyes, Chibi Gaasyendietha, Chibi Babe the Blue Ox, and Chibi Grim Reaper are some of the best pieces in MetaZoo. Art, especially MetaZoo art is hit or miss because of the surprisingly difficult fan art style which Victor Larson and Poncho seemed to have mastered consistently. Look at the Dim Mak promo that by Sky Lee and see how closesly Sky followed the brief from Kelsey Jachino. Art direction is a delicate process and was ultimately one of the many downfalls of the MetaZoo team. That and not paying people fairly, or not at all, and not delivering products to customers, which by the way is a federal crime.
Yeah hiring Allux (girlfriend of Wubby I believe?) as art director was a huge red flag for me since that showed Metazoo favored friends over the business
Of course she got preferential treatment she was bonking Andy 😂. Mike is the leader he can’t let Andy run wild he needed to put him in his place or kicked him out. Mike is ultimately at fault, you need to LEAD your company.
Yeah I think they were both too young to understand what it takes to lead a company - not enough life experience nor wanted to hire others that would have done a good job. So much potential wasted... oh well

Also it Metazoo was smart, they should have had burner ebay accounts and selling/dumping some stuff of cash flow. It’s like they had no ambition to make prices affordable to make sales or put in my effort to move their bricks… I mean inventory. No discounts, just raw dog no lube with their prices lol.
I'm sure Metazoo had burner accounts lol or giving items for others they know to sell. Andy legit has a binder full of secret rares, prototype cards and samples galore. If he's pulling them off of the line, he's likely also selling on the secondary market for some extra $$$
Heeeeey you finally got that supporter medal. Lol MetaZoo is such a mess, this is such a crazy moment in time, I love it. Buy the dip since so many collectors were clearly investors . Odd thing is many companies in the past have died out but because of that became more collectable.

I remember taking a very brief look at MetaZoo a long time ago after seeing it in Rudy's videos. Thought a couple cards looked neat here and there but it just completely felt like the CG form of an NFT project in spirit - idk why it gave me that feeling, but overall very glad that in the end it led me in the direction of not getting into it - all this news given.
I had that moment as well. Unfortunately my chips fell on the other side of the table. Although I will always cherish my friends and memories I've made from Metazoo - it did come with a lot of heartache and mental abuse from the Metazoo management which we all could have done without...

Hey Peewee. I have been watching you since your first Metazoo video. They really screwed you and many other true Metazoo fans by not giving supporter medals to the right individuals. They literally took no thought about whom to give them to it seemed. I am just as disappointed will all this crap that has happened. We all need to acknowledge that all parties involved with Metazoo Games hold responsibility. Afton knew very well what she was doing and tolerating. She is literally sleeping and living with Andy and is responsible for her part in the artist not getting their just due. Looking back at the years, Mike has lied hundreds of times. He is a liar and deceiver. Most things he ever said he never did. Think of when he said he was taking time off to focus on the creative side. That was a lie. The Metazoo manga ended on the same point as the comic did. He didn't create a single new idea. I could list many other lies if you are interested. All he ever accomplished, he was relying on others to do it for him after CN1 but stole the credit. He was using Andy as a possible fall guy in case he was able to turn around Metazoo. Andy actually probably prolonged the demise of Metazoo Games for an additional year. Right after Wilderness, Mike realized he was having money issues. He was following many of the laws in the 48 Laws of power. I challenge all people to Look it up yourself. I study psychology and he has many of the tell tale signs of Sociopathy. It is the good guys like you and I that look for the best in people that get taken advantage off. Don't hold back and be polite anymore regarding this. It is too late for that. Truth is more valuable than politeness.
Facts it’s time to bury Mike. Andy is a massive tool but the buck stops with Mike. How are you as the owner of the company going to permit that management is sleeping with an artist while simultaneously offering Afton more opportunities than your other artist? Forget the ethics that’s just a lawsuit and PR nightmare waiting to happen that will destroy your bottomline.
Mike is not only a coward, wimp, and boy he can’t be man bough to face the music he runs and hides after he let that douche burn the company into the ground. Mike and only Mike should be the vast target for the criticism.
No they had a thought process for the supporter medals. As long as you stroked them gently, always begged for their attention, tagged them in everything you posted, and a good follower and never asked true questions. They rewarded you lol
I think it's the Canadian in me... I didn't rewatch this recording and released it raw but I thought I was pretty critical and not polite when recording it LOL I'm just not used to using too derogatory terms or even swear at all in person. The truth is valuable and love how so many people, LGS, partners, etc. are coming out sharing their stories on how scummy Metazoo has been to everyone throughout the years and we tolerated it due to fear of repercussion 😠

I think you covered many great points, maybe the most important ones, but maybe missed out on some aspects, which include gameplay. If it had half the conditions and status as it did, without 4th wall effects, it stood a chance. Also, so many botched releases. Seance mapping and Hiroquest clumping, UFO Lunch Box status effects dice being the same effect on each dice..., Seance Tarot Cards costing like...$75CAD after shipping.... And in general, releasing something what felt like every two weeks. It's the friends we made along theb way right?
Totally agree with you! Yeah I was thinking making a second video with additional points you mentioned but then heard the potential BANDAI buyout and thought I'd wait and see how that goes. Just an overall sad and disappointing situation Metazoo is in 😔
It's wild that the idea behind the game is so potent that it got this far with such constant business failure. And such convoluted rules. It seems that the right team could scoop up the foundations and build a better cryptid ip and streamlined tcg from it. I can't be the only one thinking this, right?
I am there right with you! It will just take time to wash away all that is the old Metazoo management and work culture wise which will take some time. I believe we will see Metazoo 2.0 sometime in the future - but it will just be a loooooong wait

Credit where credit is due that they made some great products and a strong start but the follow through was major cringe... Hope the Metazoo story doesn't end here but it's time to just have things on the backburner. RIP Metazoo... for now? (due to the potential BANDAI acquisition rumors)

Not an uncommon sentiment - those that didn't experience Metazoo during their golden age in 2021-2022 would totally see Metazoo as crap. I totally understand and appreciate your comment!
I was also hurt by not getting a supporter medal though I gave everything I had to grow Mz. I feel ya. I came to the realization that it's just cardboard and I know the work I put in. You and I and others that didn't get a medal that deserved one know we did. Unfortunately I never got a supporter medal like you did so it still really hurts to not have one. Your lucky to have one.
So sorry to hear that Charles 😟I really understand the pain surrounding the supporter medal as I went through it as well until I came to terms that a card is just a card and it doesn't mean I didn't support Metazoo. So many people got them that just instantly threw them up on eBay - I hope you are able to purchase one during this Metazoo crash if you are still looking for one 🫂
Lots of people, myself including, are still waiting on product. I'm waiting on over $500 worth. Until we all receive this product or refunds, it 100% was a scam.
Yeah that part is hard to dispute that it wasn't a scam. Taking someone's money for months to a year then saying the company is shutting down is just low...

Yeah I'm Canadian so I feel your pain - Metazoo's lack of international care and kept saying SOON to the international fanbase was very frustrating
I think It’s was ok for fans like yourself to hype up metazoo after all you were a real fan and it was very noticeable.the problem was with the non-fans hyping up metazoo for a quick profit
Thanks for saying that - it's a fine line between getting excited about products and wanting to get people in on it for that reason and accidently getting people involved in a product due to hype. I rather over apologize than to pretend nothing happened (which is how Metazoo ran things)
I bought a coin NFT when they first came out. theyd allow us to get spoiler packs back around wilderness, but they stopped that real quick due to other fans not liking that i think. Overall though the NFTs were a TERRIBLE IDEA, mainly for Metazoos image. Great concept ruined by terrible business over and over again and the inevitable finally happened
Yeah the utility aspect was good until they didn't continue it anymore due to who knows why... I heard the NFT community was difficult to deal with though and asked for a lot in the gated Token holder channel 😅 Like you said, a great idea but not sufficiently followed through on

Ooo good to know man! That makes me feel better at least the "Andy met you in person" was not the only standard they used to give out the medals. I'll always treasure the supporter medal - items should go to wherever they will be most appreciated (although in life many times they end up in the wrong hands)

Oh it's 100% true that Andy is dating the artist Afton. They've been dating since 2022 I believe around the Mothman Festival time. Apparently there's some news dropping today (Friday) about the Metazoo acquisition. Hope its spicy 🔥 the past few days has been amazing for Metazoo publicity wise

I'm waiting on stamped bookmark cards from art contest and streamer kits . Odd thing is a month or so ago a friend of mine who bought several streamer kits was paid back after threats of legal trouble . MZ I was told paid him back with interest. Now all this. Odd.

Yeah I heard that was the way to get a chargeback - threaten legal action and a few months ago you were likely to get a refund at that point

Yeah latest development and supported rumor by past artists and key community members that an acquisition may have already happened and Mike sent that Metazoo Dead letter as retaliation by getting kicked out of his own company 😳 Rumor is its either BANDAI or Bushiroad (Weiss) picking up the zoo
Metazoo was a failure from day one. Anyone who really collects any kind of cards could see that.

It was not a rugpull. The signs were all there BUT the metazoo fanbois were so blinded by the potential $$ signs that they fail to ignore the red flags. I mean is it hard to ignore the following:
1. Delays delays delays
2. Missed Deadlines
3. Bad management
4. Overpromising
5. Fabricating hype while doing no #1 and #2.
6. Failure to pay to commitments.
7. Bad community interaction.
I mean when I saw the leter announcing the roadmap. The lack of a letterhead and signature was a bad sign. If they were really commited then they would have done a video and had Mike front and center.
A lot of people were pointing these things out but the metazoo fans did not care.

Hopium is a strong drug, especially for something you care about. It can be said for anything anyone likes, I can criticize anything someone else likes as well that I'm not into and if it fails I can just say "SEE THAT'S WHY I DIDN'T GET INTO IT!" To each their own my friends 😄
Four years for a rug pull? C'mon now. A rug pull is something like a nft company that promises the moon and then delivers nothing.
It's a mismanaged company that went out of business. They performed progressively worse and worse as money ran out. Then they had to create even more partnerships and promos to get money in, but it just increased the amount of products delayed. A vicious cycle.

What I tell others that are down is that as long as it's not life affecting, just treat your purchase of Metazoo products as a perishable product like going out for a steak, concert or traveling. The money spent on any of that stuff would have also given you enjoyment and memories same as Metazoo - we just decided to spend on shiny cardboard instead 😁

Been pretty burnt out with Metazoo news these days - I'm at the acceptance stage of grief that my favorite TCG is now dead in the water and may not get a second chance. Thanks for always hanging around Cheeseburger ❤️ your comments really gave me a chuckle :)
