I remember exactly that radio Akashavani Rajkot (on MW 810 kHz) at 13:00 use to broadcast time table of important departures from trains from Rajkot everyday. Those were 1269UP Rajkot Bhopal Express (14:15), 9018UP Saurashtra Janta Express (15:30) and 9006UP Saurashtra Mail (17:20). At that time Karnavati Express was still newly introduced train and with its own livery. I saw it at ADI on few occasions. Other train with different livery was Hapa Ahmedabad Intercity. Golden memories of past days. Thank you again, Mani Sir.
Now there are more trains from Surendranagar to Mumbai - VRL-Mumbai SF, GIM-Mumbai SF, Mahuva/BVC-Mumbai SF via Surendranagar Gate. Also, Uday will be another connection.
02:37 the second from left is a bit taller. This means the mainline is on the second line from the left in the station. This will have green aspect too for run through trains.
Wankaner had an MG steam loco shed which was shut down towards the end of the century. Wankaner Morbi was an MG island section which was isolated from the main MG network which ran all over the country.
Oh Vijay, this diesel scenario between Ahmedabad and to practically all destinations in Kutch, Kathiawad and Saurashtra remains unchanged even now. My mom expired in 2015 Jan and my father in law expired in June/July. In depression, I took a pilgrimage trip to Dwarka, taking 12218 Kerala SK up to BRC, 16209 MYS-AII between BRC-ADI, NCJ-GIM between ADI-VM,Jabalpur-Somnath (11464-??) from VM-RJT, where I had to give an EQ request for my return by 19263 between Jamnagar-DLI, and finally 12906/22906 (Okha portion) between RJT-Dwarka. It was all diesel action, and my friends tell me that from ADI, it is still the same scenario. My return from Okha after visiting Dwarka and Bet Dwarka was by 19006 Saurashtra Mail between Okha and Jamnagar. I intended to take 19006 from Dwarka, but as Bet Dwarka is nearer to Okha and there was a threat of delay due to rainy weather, I was advised by my taxi driver to head instead to Okha and take 19006 from there only.
-Station at 1:28 is Amarsar . Only this station has a huge curve towards right in Up Direction on Rajkot - Wankaner stretch . - If you were present on the other side when you captured Macchu River , you could have captured smallest station of Indian Railways - Wankaner City. - I loved the Semaphore gantry at 2:39 ( Wankaner Junction ) . Amazing curve as well . Loved the MG Yard Sir and the Steam Locos . Were these for passenger services towards Maliya Miyana ? - Lovely ALCO sounds . The station at 8:28 is Than Junction for sure. Only this station has curve on left within Station Section in Up Direction between Surendranagar - Than . - I guess you missed Token Exchange between Rajkot - Than ( actually till Viramgam but I guess it was dark when you arrived Surendranagar !) . During those days Single Line Token Dispensing Block Instrument would unlock the Advanced Starter after which it was pulled Off . Token less Single Line Block Instruments along with Panel Interlocking is a much newer technology here . The Wcam 1 locos should have been in rust maroon colour like WAM locomotives of those days for matching the maroon coloured coaches of mail/express trains in Mumbai-Ahmedabad route, whereas the Red Cream liveried Wcam 1 (lookalike of the Last Tata Wam4) should have been allotted to the Cream brown liveried of mail /express trains.
@@ManiVijay I wish Western Railway had sufficient Rust liveried Wcam 1 locos for matching the maroon coloured liveried coaches of Mail/Express trains in WR like Lokshakti and Gujarat Express. Also I wished some Wcam2/2p locos had been in Cream Blue livery as CR's Wcam 3 so that the Wcam2/2p locos had been matching liveried locos for Superfast trains like Shatabdi and Karnavati.
Sir Whether there was loco change in ADI from WDM to WCAM bcoz you mentioned in earlier comment there was shortage of WCAM Engines. Present day runs with OKHA to ADI by RTM/SBR WDP And further it runs with WAP 5 from ADI BCT

Initially saurashtra mail was 5 Dn/ 6 up . WG use to pull it up to viramgam. First crossing of 5 Dn and 6 Up was at KANKOT between rajkot and wankaner when it was extended beyond viramgam after MG - BG conversion somewhere in 1979

For a short time, they actually had rust colored WCAM1s. But my favorite livery was the original - white-red-blue.
