Frantabulous capture! That too the Sapthagiri express with old green colur coaches with yellow line. Remembering those old days when I was a kid, I was very keen to know how this train runs without engine in front, whenever I travel from Tiruvallur to Tirupathi. Really memorable days are those.. Thank you for sharing Mani sir..

Brings back memories sir I am basically from Chennai lived there for 17 yes and shifted to Mumbai in 2005 thank you sir it used to called dadar - Madras exp which we used to catch from Madras central at morning I don't remember the exact time it used to depart may be 6:15 or 7:00 am renigunta used to be 30 minute stop because they used change the loco to diesel right up to Pune where they again used to change loco to electric
Glad I was able to stir up some good memories for you. It had a loco change at Renigunta for so many years. Now it starts from Chennai Egmore and changes locos at Wadi.
25 years is a long time dont you think? look at this single line diesel section for the most part and compare it with the current double electrified section, crazy how much progress the country has made in 25 years
Thanks! Madras was renamed to Chennai in 1996, so the station was still called Madras Central at that time. However, the train was known as Chennai Exp. - predecessor of the present MS-DR superfast.
Hi Mani, at that time did this rake not belong to SR and the train number was 6063/64?? Also on Madras and Chennai, I know from my childhood that while in Hindi and English, the station boards in trains always said Madras Central in both language, in Tamil, Madras Central was always called Chennai. GT (and later TN) plus 6032, the three main connections for Chennai from the North, always bore station boards in Tamil which said: Pudhu Dilli-Chennai Central. 6032 Janata had Jammu Thaavi-Chennai Central. From the video it is clear that you travelled by the CR rake, but when it was introduced, did it not belong to SR, so did 11027/28 Mail, which was I think 6009/10 and I think 11041/42 was the earlier 13/14 MAS-CSTM express (I used to call it the counterpart of the DLI-SDAH Upper India Express which was also 13/14 - the only train connecting Delhi with Shanti Niketan (Bolpur Jn.) It was after that, that all these three dedicated MAS-Mumbai rakes got transferred to CR, correct?
At 07:40 observe the livery. It is the same as MG emus. Answer to then Bombay which used the livery of their EMUs. To this day Deccan Queen runs with the same livery as some old emus between Pune and Lonavala.
@@oracle11iappsdba Yes. They had different liveries at different times. In the mid to late 80s, AP had that red oxide colors and TN/KK/GT had the orange-cream livery. But by the mid 90s, they all became cream-brown.
@@ManiVijay yes I was mentioning of the 1980 - 82 livery. Just for info. AP exp used to skip bhopal capital of mp. It used to run nonstop from jhansi to nizamuddin in 8 hours reaching there just post noon. Gone those days of ordinary machines with unmatchingly extraordinary men.

very Good Video Mani, It recalled all those memories of travelling as well as sorrow of life (Dad's Death on 1st Nov 1995), he worked for Railways in BELGAUM, I have travelled almost every part of India, but since his death I haven't gone anywhere, I have always travelled in AC Coach or Long Window FIRST CLASS COACH. plz tell Sir, was Renigunta Guntakal Single line? and if you know when was it doubled
Beautiful capture, kudos to you. looks like coaches are badly maintained, only AC coaches are fit to travel those days . Ac three tier replaced to first class coach later.

Glorious Video. I had travelled Hyderabad - Guntakal - Reinigunta in Dec. '90, Alcos were also very effective on this section. If I am not wrong, Tirupati - Reinigunta - Gudur line was already electrified then. Thanks. (Rajanish Joshi)
Great video!!! the cream-brown livery was not only present in the south bound trains but they were also seen in the WR trains in the form of cream-green livery coaches as I have seen trains like Gujarat Mail, Kutch Exp, Paschim Exp, Golden Temple Mail, Vadodara Exp, Avantika Exp, Jaipur Superfast, etc. & many outstation trains of the WR having these cream-green livery coaches from 1995 till late 90's. These cream-brown/green livery coaches were also seen in many SER trains as well!! These coaches were really unique & had it's own identity, the only thing that I would like to know is that why these coaches ceased to exist? There was nothing wrong in continuing with them, as they looked more dazzling than the current standard blue coaches.

Not sure why they removed the brilliant livery from Sapthagiri - I guess maintenance issues. And IR is never really into aesthetics as you make out from the bizarre mixed colors in various AC trains.
You are right Sir! But the cream-brown coaches were really doing well & I have no idea why they were removed and what did the IR gain by removing them? These brilliant liveries were the beauties of the IR as they used to give a different look to the trains.
