This takes me back to childhood. I remember when I was a kid, I used run to the balcony to watch this train pass early morning before going to school. I live near Chinchwad station which is on Mumbai-Pune route and can be seen here. This video is pute nostalgia! The transformation of the stations on this route has been amazing. Now even the smaller stations look much organized.
1 - Maroon coaches of those times 2 - WCM/G, Kekda, Pappu Locos 😊 3 - DC locals without safety grills 4 - Push Pull Diva local (i almost forgot about it) 5 - AC 2T small windows 6 - Short heightened Stations in those times 7 - Xtra Line just outside pf.4 of Kalyan (ambarnath end) 8 - Classic Nostalgia 9 - Add more points if i forgot something
13. No 5th & 6th line between CST & Kalyan 14. No skywalks 15. Only one FOB every station. 16. No full sheds on platforms of many stations 17. Waiting rooms, staff rooms, raiway police office, hotel etc. etc. on platform 4 of Kalyan 18. Not much rush inside train
Best Capture Ever.... ❤ This video is the archive of Indian Railways.... I am 2003 born and I feel this... Being a railfan, it's so fascinating to watch trains of earlier era, thank you for presenting this Time Machine in form of video..
I spent my childhood in Mumbai. My family used to get on Nagercoil express from Kalyan. The announcement from the station, the noise of EMUs just refreshed my memory so hard that I could even felt the smell of the stations and the train.
This is a treasure trove for enthusiasts looking for footage from a bygone era. Wonderful passion for posterity. Only wish some of those old locos could have been preserved or restored for use on heritage routes like they do in Germany, Switzerland and other places.
Thanks a lot sir for this lovely video. It reminds me of my school days. Golden era of 90's. In those days Railways used to put general coaches in between sleepers little bit unusual.
I was around 3 years old when I had traveled and I don't remember much except brief flashes of familiar nostalgia. However, one can see how much things have changed. It was wayyy dirtier and disorganized before. But also much greener in the ghats than today. I guess in some ways we're doing better but hope to see more natural beauty on such routes
Thank You! Wonderful! Enjoyed every minute of your video: and a day will come when your videos will be part of study on the workings and the condition of the Indian Railways! Once again thank you!
Those days CR didn't have any train running with polluting diesels from CST. What a wonderful 👍 moment it was. Travelling with WCG2 or WCM5 locos hauled trains were amazing 🤩🤩. I have travelled in Dadar Chennai WCG2, Deccan Queen WCM 5, Indrayani WCM 5, Hussainsagar WCG 2 nd many more.
It was our must do activity while travelling from Mumbai to Lonavala ( timing was convenient...2.15 pm from VT...reaching Lonavala by 5.30 pm or so...).. during our child hood days... Had mentioned this in your earlier post... The seating arrangements in upper deck near the steps was very uncomfortable... No leg space..could be seen in your footage@ 39.00 min) Once suffered leg cramps( that was also the last time i travelled in Sinhgad exp..in late eighties.)Now the coaches are used in valsad fast passenger train from Mumbai cntrl.. Watching the trailing bogies or the hauling loco from upper deck window in khandala ghat was just so relaxing.
Fantastic views & memories of those golden days! By the way why the DD coaches discontinued as the similar arrangements still available in Flying Ranee of WR.
May have to do with under utilized capacity on Mumbai-Pune train route. The Vashi (road) bridge probably resulted in a drop in use of trains as people now had more and faster options to reach places like Lonavala
I do remember our trip to Pune. That was mainly to explore the possibility of purchasing working models of miniature train engines. Perhaps you remember the batata vada joke also.
Lower deck accumulated dust while passing through platforms. Might be due to this, the DD was discontinued and AC DDs were introduced which are also being terminated in some of the sections where they were running.
Sir, the vlog is awesome. I remember watching a black & white video clip from this train's inauguration way back in the late 1970s on Twitter. Passengers were dressed in cloths like bellbottoms (for men) & sarees/salwar kameez (for women). I presume this is the only other train apart from Flying Rani to get Non-AC DD coaches. Hyderabad-Bombay Express had the typical VB style shell AC coach that reminded me of my childhood time train journeys during the early 1990s. WCM giants were always amazing on VT-Kalyan section, beyond which trains would either get WAM-4s or WDM locos. Truly a nostalgic entertainment. I've shared your video clip on Twitter so please do join me over there 😀
Actually previous version of non AC double decker coaches has upper and lower berth near main door, but as of today Flying Ranee DD coaches, mfg in 2001-02 does not have those type of sittings.
1:44 I can see the number on the coaches just before he said about wds6 .the number is 9782 that means the coach made in 1997 right??.... But mani Vijay sir telling us that.... This video is made in 1995 . HOW,HOW,HOW??????
Singhgad express was First to have DD coaches in I think around 1978 or so and then later introduced in WR FLYING RANEE. It discontinued on Singhgad express abruptly with 2 years or so ....but Flying Ranee ran with DD coaches for almost 40 years till August 2023 ....
Correct! Originally, Sinhagad DD coaches had the CR day livery - cream-blue. Have seen that live. Initially, Flying Ranee's DD coaches were Olive Green with a white band (similar to the WCAM1 at that time). Have seen those live as well.
@@ManiVijay at the time it did not matter we had never seen the soft seat in Emu units or passenger train as this one. Now thinking back makes me wonder how we took out the entire journey on wooden benches. The lower level seats were in line with the platform and they weren't as clean as you have them now 🫣
I’m so happy to see old chinchwad and pimpri, lush greenery in between these stations. No construction near Kasarwadi station. Pune was heaven that time❤
Hello sir, huge respect for your rail vlogging, I want to meet you sir and make a short film on you, youtube railfans are eagerly waiting for your interview sir

Lovely mesmerising musical track sounds which are extinguishing with time these days as most of the tracks are joint together by welding them.
I suggest you to make a video on "Different type of horns indian railway"
Best video Sir ❤,this is my old days l was also ride from Pune to VT in Duble decker,I love my golden days❤❤👌👌👌👌🙏🙏
