It wouldnt hurt to change the thermal paste mate but it wont fix the fan issue if the fan is not running it could be the that fan motor is not working
Going by your comment you im guessing you have had your ps4 apart could check to see if the fan is plugged in may have forgot that or if its plugged in properly just a thought if that doesnt work matbe a replccment fan the fan could burnt out and just doesnt work the other thing i would look at is the connector on the mother board maybe damaged or not connected to mother board properly if thats the case not an easy fix but i would check all the things i mentioned and a fan replace first and see what happens hope this helps
Ps i have forgotten to plug the fan back in before to lol and had open the ps4 again a link to the fan i used is in my description of this video

Nine times out of ten you can get away with just thermal paste and pads as long as you clean your fan really good and the heat sink grill as clear it all from dust and fluff and with good airflow back shoukd really help if you think your fan is working perfectly there is now harm putting that old fan back in i replaced mine due it not spinning like it should have also the improvment i have seen i my system alone is 100% as it runs as quiet as ps5 now like i said in my videos my wife wanted to keep the ps4 but yes runs newer games like farm sim 22 ac valahalla and avangers

What’s the point of replacing the fan? Just a clean it

Because my standard fan wasnt spinning fast enough when it needed to if your fan works fine then no need to replace it i needed to replace mine so i covered that in the video mate

@@snigeplays6070 well how can I even tell if it’s not spinning fast enough, I put new thermal paste in mine and it slowed down a lot for obvious reasons, when I used to play rdr2 it was a jet engine (before I put new thermal) and the air coming out now when playing rdr2 for several hours goes up to a max of 148F, but it likes to sit around 143, and the fan doesn’t make any weird noises, but the top of the console is warm, while it doesn’t get cooler, it doesnt get hotter than from when it was on the Home Screen when playing rdr

My ps4 suonded the same mate when i took my ps4 apart the first time i only replaced the thermal paste and put it back together and then it was loud on home screen of marvels avengers game so played that game for 2 hours ps4 still loud as like jet so i tried ac valhalla same thing both big games in the way they look and perform so i then decided to change everything out thermal pads on ram chips and thermal paste and fan once i put the fan in it would spin up but was much quieter then the original fan then i sat down and looked at the old fan and found it was loose on the spindle and had alot of play in the fan motor where as the new fan did not but that was just my fan mate so in my thought my og fan was no good to me it should not have had that much play in the fan

@@snigeplays6070 I didn’t replace the one x’s ram chip pads but they weren’t hard or anything, they were like clay and easy to move, I didn’t take them off I just put them back on, It just starts blowing heat when I turn it on, even on the Home Screen, I hope it’s normal (the fan isn’t on high speed on the home)
