All great recommendations! I would also recommend Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise, it’s made by the same studio that makes the Yakuza games and it’s a really fun beat em up!
I was really disappointed by that game playing it after Ken's Rage 1&2, for me personally it felt like they focused too much on RPG elements and the beat-em-up mechanics were more of an afterthought. But I can see why people who are really into RPGs or the FOTNS story would enjoy it
@@fightaman7 tf are you talking about? fotns is peak yakuza combat. as far as yakuza games go, it has the deepest combat system that allows for combo cancelling and crazy air juggles thats a bit lacking in games of the same studio like judgment and yakuza. the only downside to fotns is how it completely rewrote the story.
More Hidden Gems imo: - Golf Club Wasteland - Grim Fandango Remastered - Rock of Ages 3 - Xuan Yuan Sword 7 - Alchemic Jousts - Ovivo - Nexomon Extinction - Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles - For the King - Fat Princess Adventures All came out physical :)
I thought that game was quite good. I was definitely pleasantly surprised, because so many game critics trashed the game. Another game that I thought was exceptionally good, that many game critics hated was Evil West. Have you played that one? I wonder what Metal Jesus thinks about that game?
I would recommend "The Nonary Games" which is a double pack of both Zero Escape games. If you're into visual novels and complex storylines, it'll be a great time. One of my favorites
Two games I've recently played and enjoyed. Concrete genie. Enjoyable putting artwork on as many buildings as possible. Can also be played with a PlayStation headset. Arise a simple story. I like the graphics and the time rewind feature.👍
MediEvil is one of my favourite games on ps1. I had a blast with the remake. It feels the same now as it felt back then with the ps1 version. Just a great throwback.
I kinda regret getting rid of my PS4 so many years ago, but at the time I really wanted a premium PC gaming rig and selling it along with the few games I had for it was fast and easy money.
I've thought about doing just that, thing is I have yet to get myself a TV that benefits from the PS5, still going with a 10+ year old 32" Sony HD TV, so none of those nice game enhancing featured on never TV sets, och and new furniture to actually fit a bigger TV let alone a PS5, so I have some savings to be made to afford all that hehe. @@MetalJesusRocks
I sold my PS4 Pro for $400 a couple years ago. Kind of regret doing it as well. That being said I need the money and space more than I need the console. Do miss playing some of those exclusives though.
I remember maybe a year or two before the release of the PS5, I looked at many reviews of "The Order 1886" and many people online called this game trash. I played this game for myself and quickly came to discover the game isn't as bad as many think it is. There are a couple of reasons why so many people, I think, disliked this game: (1) Old English terms in the game that many people cannot relate to, these days (2) Plus, this game is maybe beatable in 4 hours. I'm pretty glad I spent my time playing and beating The Order 1886 because it is indeed an enjoyable game once you spend enough time paying attention to the context of the story and the characters involved.
1886 still looks surprisingly good. If you were to tell me it is a PS5 launch title, I wouldn't doubt it. The art direction works really well within the hardware spec of the PS4. Digital Foundry did a deep dive into the tech used in the game and it's a fascinating watch.
The ps5 is literally just a more powerful ps4. And the ps4 wasn't much of a jump from the ps3 either. Consoles have become as cut and paste as cod games
Great video, I actually quite enjoy The Order 1886. One criminally underrated game on the PS4 has to be Girls Und Panzer: Dream Tank Match. It may not be everyones taste but the gameplay is really fun
I actually REALLY liked “The Order 1886’s” story & characters. The visuals were incredible for the time. I was hoping it would get the sequel it needed. So much was promised & could have been done with gameplay. A great IP just laying stagnant. (Just like the “Legaia” IP! They could do sooooo much with that IP!)
Medievil isn't obscure, but it definitely gets overlooked and it isn't as popular as Crash, Metal Gear, Spyro Tomb Raider, so I love to see this game getting the attention it deserves.
The MediEvil remake is amazing, the perfect halloween vibes game! It keeps its challenge from the ps1 version too if you're going for 100%. Also Sumo Digital rocks, ill have to check out that racer.
I’ve been saying this about the order 1886 since 2016. Back then I think it was still 10-15 dollars. It also ends very abruptly “mid campaign” as they clearly expected a sequel and had planned for a big trilogy I believe. Still for 5-10 dollars well worth it. It takes place in a timeline where technology developed using different techniques and makes for a fascinating alternate history.
I have over a thousand Ps4 games, so as I make my way through the backlog, this list is sure to change, but these are my favorite Ps4 games thus far: ▪︎It Takes Two ▪︎Ary and the Secret of Seasons ▪︎The Last Tinker: City of Colors ▪︎Sackboy: A Big Adventure ▪︎Moving Out ▪︎Hogwarts Legacy ▪︎Immortals Fenyx Rising ▪︎Stray ▪︎A Hat in Time ▪︎Yestermorrow
I always love how you discuss each game! You not only describe them, you include some personal experience and opinion, sonetimes including some history of the game or its series or franchise. You include remakes, remasters, VR titles, portable titles, etc… Great video, man. P.S. You could talk about each title for even longer, as far as I’m concerned! 😏😉🤙🏼
Funny that you covered Hotshot Racing because the old SNES Top Gear games are gonna be released as a collection for all platforms under the name Top Racer Collection (which is the name the franchise goes for in Japan). I'm interested in getting it on Steam but I guess I'll double dip if I get a PS4 or a PS5. Thanks for the video, MetalJesus!
I'm an Xbox guy, but I also own a PS4. The one PS4 game that genuinely took me by surprise and NO one seems to talk about or remember was Gravity Rush 2. I never played the first one, but I took a chance on the sequel many years ago and I was blown away by the gameplay, story, and art. The best part is that the Japanese anime tropes are not prevalent and it has more of a Studio Ghibli/Disney cultural feel. One of the most unique games I have ever played and it has all but disappeared from gaming memory.
@@MetalJesusRocks That is a genuine bummer. Occasionally I'll catch a glimpse of my physical copy on the shelf and wonder if a sequel to 2 is currently in production.
Shining Resonance Refrain is totally a hidden gem by this point. It was kinda well known when it came out but I feel like it's been forgotten now. I'm currently playing it and it's really good for a action jrpg
After switching to pc years ago, I never looked back. I don't ever feel like I am missing out on much, but I really used to love playstation. The only console I play on now is the Switch because they handle so many ports and properties well, very differently, portably. Maybe one day Sony will sway me again, but at the time, they just don't. Pc is just too versatile. After obtaining the Steam Deck even the Switch is suffering to gain playtime with me, but its a console I feel like I can still pick up and play for many more years. I am slightly interested in the new Sony portable but it is not peaking my interest in comparison to what is out already. Hotshot Racing is such an underrated gem by the way, glad to hear someone mention it, it deserved more.
Awesome video. The PS4 library is amazing. I have had a ton of fun collecting for it and don't see an end in sight 😂 Ketsui is top tier. PS4 is a shmup beast!
According to the Playstation blog, ps5 version of Paper Beasts is playable without VR!: "With the release of the PS VR2, and thanks largely to the power of the PS5, the opportunity to renew Paper Beast was an opportunity we didn’t want to miss. This new VR platform brings fresh new features and unrivaled rendering that we wanted to explore. Better yet, this edition of Paper Beast can also be played without VR."
It's tough to remember games you've mentioned in previous videos, but I would call these hidden gems for people that overlooked them because they don't enjoy competitive shooters. Titanfall 2 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare both have top tier single player campaigns. In fact, Titanfall 2's campaign might be my favorite FPS campaign, ever. Outer Wilds (not Outer Worlds, different game) is really neat. I'd compare it to something like No Man's Sky meets The Witness. Perhaps The Witness is a hidden gem? Jamestown+ is an excellent shoot'em up that started on Steam, but eventually made it to PS4. Bridge Constructor Portal is a puzzle game where you build bridges for Lemmings, basically. It's got the Portal humor/theme and there are portals that make the bridge building more interesting. Battle Chasers: Nightwar, I think you've mentioned this one before, but I'll never pass an opportunity to bring it up. It's an RPG with World of Warcraft style graphics and Final Fantasy X combat. Battle Princess Madelyn is a pretty neat Ghosts and Goblins style game with nice pixel art. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is almost as good as Geometry Wars 2. Need for Speed Rivals was a launch game, iirc. It's locked at 30fps, but I remember it being a really fun NFS game.
Something metal Jesus and a lot of us have in common is obviously we just love gaming but not just that we love variety. We're not about any console wars, we don't just play 1 live service game. We branch out from generation to generation and I love that. I like how I can turn on a metal Jesus video and he's talking about some dope ps2 games I never heard of and then in another he's playing all sorts of new games that just came out on all sorts of different platforms. Also just want to add the hidden gem videos have always been my favorite. That's actually how I discovered metal Jesus years ago.
YES! The Order 1886. Fantastic game with a deep deep lore that was sadly never explored 😢 HotShotsRacing is fantastic, the drifting can be tricky, but when you get it, it is bliss. Huge fan of VR, buf Paper Beast never really clicked with me. A really really underrated VR game is DownTheRabbitHole 😍 Great vid, bring us more PS4 goodness 💙
Great to see the hidden gem videos coming back. Have been picking up more ps4 games recently will definitely be looking out for paper beast looks super trippy
I really hope we get a port of the arcade-only Gundam Extreme Vs 2 OverBoost on the PS5. I also think Gundam fans are long overdue for a new Dynasty Warriors Gundam game. The last one was Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn that was released on PS3 back in 2013. The Order 1886 is one I played and finished. It was okay but it's a bit on the short side with little collectibles. I heard there was a sequel planned but apparently it got canceled.
Very happy to see a VR game in the mix. Most youtubers dont like to mention VR because the haters are so vocal, but those of us who actually play VR appreciate it!
Medieval is definitely a great Hidden Gem and holds a special place in my heart because it was the very first game I ever played on Sony PlayStation at my cousin's house and I fell in love with the system didn't get to play the game again until they redid it on the PS Vita
Awesome work as always man, I love the hidden gem videos! Being a retro games guy, I haven't ventured too far into the PS4 library but I plan to check out Hot Shot Racing!
I think part of the reason The Order 1886 failed was unlucky timing. The gaming trend at the time was tacked on multiplayer modes to extend single player games, even if it was heavy-handedly inserted (e.g. Assassin’s Creed, Metal Gear, Arkham Origins). Now we’re seeing the pendulum swing away heavily from live service and even a bit away from multiplayer in general. I wonder if the reception to a big budget, graphically impressive, narratively tight, action game would be different today.
I will definately pick up Paper Beasts now.. I love these weird/surreal evironements in VR, so this looks like a no brainer. Thanks for the recommendation
Kind of a silly title, but I really enjoy the Shenmue I + II collection. It is definitely a relic of its time, but the terrible voice acting is actually funny to hear and the game itself is relaxing.
Hotshot Racing is not mentioned enough I feel, it's a great racing game IMO. I've always loved the flat shaded poly look since Virtua Racing, but the driving experience here is much better. I picked it up on Switch.
I maintain that a Sony console should have phyiscal backwards compatability back to PS1, but at least the PS4 library combined with PS5 still makes for a huge pool of games. I know that PS3 would be hard to emulate, but these days it's been possible for quite a while, even on a rinky dink Steamdeck.

All great recommendations! I would also recommend Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise, it’s made by the same studio that makes the Yakuza games and it’s a really fun beat em up!
I almost added that game, but it got a "PlayStation Hits" release somehow and I didn't know if people would be annoyed by that.
I was really disappointed by that game playing it after Ken's Rage 1&2, for me personally it felt like they focused too much on RPG elements and the beat-em-up mechanics were more of an afterthought. But I can see why people who are really into RPGs or the FOTNS story would enjoy it
@@MetalJesusRocks It's still a PS4 exclusive, and nobody talks about it, so I'd consider it a Hidden Gem.
True I actually played it and really dug it's combat, I could careless for the Hostess side activity though.
Gundam Breaker 3 is a real sleeper, especially if you've ever put some of the models together.
Too bad it’s very expensive at over 50 dollars for a used copy 😢
More Hidden Gems imo:
- Golf Club Wasteland
- Grim Fandango Remastered
- Rock of Ages 3
- Xuan Yuan Sword 7
- Alchemic Jousts
- Ovivo
- Nexomon Extinction
- Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles
- For the King
- Fat Princess Adventures
All came out physical :)
Ooooh! I few in that list I've not heard of before. Thanks!
I still have my physical copy of Gravity Rush 1 and 2. Happy to see it brought up
I bought a PS4 specifically for The Order. Absolutely love that game to this day
Seeing Order 1886 on the list was a surprise.
I always try and mix it up. 👍
I thought that game was quite good. I was definitely pleasantly surprised, because so many game critics trashed the game. Another game that I thought was exceptionally good, that many game critics hated was Evil West. Have you played that one? I wonder what Metal Jesus thinks about that game?
I enjoyed that game a lot tbh
@@MR66HDsame here.
Yea that game was incredible, played it awhile ago but the graphics were top notch.
Gravity rush is a great call!! Loved that game, very challenging too
I would recommend "The Nonary Games" which is a double pack of both Zero Escape games. If you're into visual novels and complex storylines, it'll be a great time. One of my favorites
Virtues Last Reward is one of my favourite games of all time
Yes! I agree!!! A great title to have.
Two games I've recently played and enjoyed. Concrete genie. Enjoyable putting artwork on as many buildings as possible. Can also be played with a PlayStation headset. Arise a simple story. I like the graphics and the time rewind feature.👍
Gravity Rush 2 is one of the best ps4 games ever! The entire game is an amazing experience!
It would be cool for Sony to revisit The Order 1886, perhaps remake into a 15-20 hour campaign.
The Mirrors Edge games are AMAZING on the ps4
The movement in gravity rush is super fun
jesus man It feels like ages since the last hidden gems video haha, glad to see it back!
Concrete Genie is another hidden gem for PlayStation 4 as well.
Just got done playing The Order: 1886, great game!
Man, there's so many games with great hidden gems on the PS4 especially on physical.
Yes. Definitely. It's a great console to collect physical for.
@@MetalJesusRocks Yeah, I'm loving the PS4 games. And since I got the PS5 console it has backwards compatible looks really nice on my 4K television.
Order 1886 had such beautiful graphics when it came out it
MediEvil is one of my favourite games on ps1.
The good news is that the PS5 plays most retail PS4 games, so if you go that route it's the best of both worlds.
That's what some people be saying about TLOU part II, but I don't agree. Also, I loved the order 1886 too.
I never owned a PS4 so I when I got my PS5 I really wanted to check out some of the PS4 exclusives and I love the Order 1886.
Ssme
I absolutely loved the art in the order...superb game too....only paid £4 physical
Loving the editing. Always improving. It shows you care♥️🙏
Thank you so much 😁
I actually REALLY liked “The Order 1886’s” story & characters.
I have over a thousand Ps4 games, so as I make my way through the backlog, this list is sure to change, but these are my favorite Ps4 games thus far:
▪︎It Takes Two
▪︎Ary and the Secret of Seasons
▪︎The Last Tinker: City of Colors
▪︎Sackboy: A Big Adventure
▪︎Moving Out
▪︎Hogwarts Legacy
▪︎Immortals Fenyx Rising
▪︎Stray
▪︎A Hat in Time
▪︎Yestermorrow
Most of those are new for me. Thanks for sharing more hidden gems.
More to come!
Here here
I always love how you discuss each game!
You not only describe them, you include some personal experience and opinion, sonetimes including some history of the game or its series or franchise.
You include remakes, remasters, VR titles, portable titles, etc…
Great video, man.
P.S. You could talk about each title for even longer, as far as I’m concerned! 😏😉🤙🏼
Great selection! - Bound is an interesting, arty and relaxing platform game, hope you can include it in the next Hidden Gems collection for PS4.
The PS4 is my all time favorite game console. Thanks for the Hotshot racing tip. I want it now 😊
I still have the 2 PS1 MediEvil and love them. This PS4 version should be awesome too. Good recommendations and cool video MJR!👉🙂👈
Might be my favorite generation/console ever...some just dont realize how great it was....yet
I literally live my Retro Collecting Dream through you hahaha
You rock dude! I love your stealth Let’s Plays 🤘
I heard that Sony shut down the developer soon after this... that sucks. 😢
Almost 1M subs my dude.. stay awesome
maybe this is the time to start collect to the ps4 - i saw their prices starting to go down
After switching to pc years ago, I never looked back.
I wish The order 1886 got a remaster for the PlayStation 5 I have the PlayStation 4 launch version of the game. Loved the story.
Awesome video. The PS4 library is amazing. I have had a ton of fun collecting for it and don't see an end in sight 😂 Ketsui is top tier. PS4 is a shmup beast!
It really is!
Alwa's Collection is a hidden gem for sure on ps4. 2 old school Nes/Snes action/puzzle games
According to the Playstation blog, ps5 version of Paper Beasts is playable without VR!:
"With the release of the PS VR2, and thanks largely to the power of the PS5, the opportunity to renew Paper Beast was an opportunity we didn’t want to miss. This new VR platform brings fresh new features and unrivaled rendering that we wanted to explore. Better yet, this edition of Paper Beast can also be played without VR."
@MetalJesusRocks You just got a shoutout by Joe Desrosa on the podcast “Not Today Pal”. YMH Studios 👍 Hot Sauce is the best!
I will check it out 😲
It's tough to remember games you've mentioned in previous videos, but I would call these hidden gems for people that overlooked them because they don't enjoy competitive shooters.
There are so many great games for PS4. I am currently playing Deadpool.
That scene where Deadpool is slapping Wolverine is HILARIOUS 😆
YES! The Order 1886. Fantastic game with a deep deep lore that was sadly never explored 😢
HotShotsRacing is fantastic, the drifting can be tricky, but when you get it, it is bliss.
Huge fan of VR, buf Paper Beast never really clicked with me. A really really underrated VR game is DownTheRabbitHole 😍
Great vid, bring us more PS4 goodness 💙
Love these gives me more games to add to my list 😎💯💯 the order definitely looks like one I will get
Yes! Love your hidden gem videos
I really had love for The Order. My only complaints were the FOV, QTE final boss, and overall runtime. I wanted more but loved it.
I've never seen Steel Rats before but immediately I see it as the original Excitebike in a modern form.
Hotshot racing is on PS+, so going to give that a blast. Love an old fashioned arcade racer 👍
Great to see the hidden gem videos coming back. Have been picking up more ps4 games recently will definitely be looking out for paper beast looks super trippy
Love all hidden gems. Bring us more anytime!!!
Dont forget to support physical games! Digital only is a path to evil.
Haven't watch a MJR in quite a while, good to see your still doing videos dude.
for me some games there isn't a "HIDDEN" gem 😅 but thats is it, great video! ;)
One I'd add is Tails of Iron. Complete surprise for me and we'll worth playing
I love The Order 1886, yeah it's short but sweet, the weapons are awesome and it has a cool story and setting. A sequel would be great .
I have to try out SteelRats looks fun, MediEvil/Resurrection are awesome especially the first one.
Man I wanna play all these now!
This is where you shine pal, I love these videos.
Would love some more old school Sierra "police quest" reviews and history. Great video.
I thoroughly enjoyed 1886. Awesome game
