I haven't noticed any significant battery drain, although to be honest I didn't do any tests, but as a rough estimate I would say close enough to using it without proxy recording.
Hey Darawshy, I have a question for you. I'm working with proxies and I don't have the original file, only the proxies are given to me. The proxies I'm using were created directly from my boss' Sony Camera. When I have the project file, I simply attach the provided proxies. Once attached, the 2160 x 3840 proxies are compressed, but the 3840 x 2160 ones are fine. What could be wrong with the 2160 x 3840 proxies and why are they compressed in Premiere Pro, but they're fine when opened in VLC player?
Hello, there should be no difference in vertical/horizontal recording, the proxies should remain the same. I'm not sure why you're experiencing that issue, but a workaround might be to create the proxies for 2160 x 3840 inside of Premiere Pro itself, that might do the trick.
I am using Sony ZV E10, it has proxy recording like many other Sony cameras so proxy files are already created in camera. How do I use these existing files in Shotcut instead of running the jobs to make proxy files and then using those.
Can I jump in here with a similar question too please? 🙏 I used in the camera proxies on my a7siii and have located the SUB folder and linked the files 👍 …….do I now just use those files from the SUB folder on my timeline?
If you have linked the files then there is no need to drag them from the SUB folder. Just click on "Toggle Proxies" in the Premiere Pro playback window, and your videos should be Proxies now. You can switch this on and off (original / proxy)
You can use proxies but the proxy will be set to 24 fps, once your edit is ready just revert back to the original clip (by unclicking the proxy button) and then you can render your clip at 120fps
How does this impact battery life?

@@red_visualsgood enough, thanks for the quick reply!
No worries!

You will find them stored in your SD Card, under SUB
You can then link them to the original videos without creating proxies on your computer;)
@@red_visuals yes that's what I want to know how do I tell Shotcut that these are the proxies, just use it instead of creating fresh.
Unfortunately you can't automatically add them, even if they're created in camera.
You'll have to manually link them in Premiere Pro ;/

Q: The proxies file will take space from yr memory ...
Hey, yes they would. They're stored on your SD card under the "SUB" folder. Although they are much smaller in terms of size.
Can I do this by attaching my Sony A7IV directly to computer or do I need a memory card reader?
You can do it both ways, SD Card Reader or directly copy the files from your camera through a USB cable
Is possible make proxies in 120fps? Whit a lower resolution?
Yes, it is possible and with low resolution
so for each footage we need to attach proxy?
Yes, that is kinda unfortunate, I wish it would automatically attach according to the file names :/
No, you can do mass attach proxies, there's tutorials out there
You cant make proxys while shooting 120 fps footage
You can use proxies but the proxy will be set to 24 fps, once your edit is ready just revert back to the original clip (by unclicking the proxy button) and then you can render your clip at 120fps
@@red_visuals how i do that?
lol i'm able to edit 4k without proxies on my pc
Sure, but some computers can't handle the 10 bit, that's why we use proxies.
@@red_visuals yeah, with the same setting you explain btw. On A7siii
