That's literally what everyone in health care should be doing, doctors, therapist, nurses, chiropractors, PA etc you name it. I'm actually surprised how little they do after they finish school. It's literally part of the creed I think.

Unless it bothers your stomach its to be taken on an empty stomach not with a meal.
At least according to the stickker warnings placed on my prescription bottle by the pharmacists in Canada.

    • @467076

I've seen that it depends on how you accustom your body reacts to it, which to me makes more sense. Start with an empty stomach but it it bothers you or whatever, take it after. Also, maybe they should take it after if they tend to forget about eating.

Hi, I was just diagnosed with ADHD, and Ritalin has been an option for me to start taking, but I also have anxiety and moderate depression… I’m still trying to figure out if the anxiety is linked to the ADHD, and if the depression is linked to one of the other two. Can you tell me is Prozac and Ritalin are a good combination to take for adults? I have only found studies that it is beneficial for children. I do have a psychiatrist, but I am reaching out for others opinions, and I just to make sure that information is correct. I am really nervous to start taking medication, so I just need some help with some clarity and understanding. If Prozac isn’t a good combination with Ritalin , can you please give me another good SSRI option or maybe an SNRI option is better to help with my anxiety and depression? All of this is confusing for me. Thank you in advance.

Hi, do you know anything about the rate of elimination in modified release compared to instant release methylphenidate?
The instant release tablets work great and I can take them through the day. The modified release tablets make me feel like crap, but my psychiatrist would rather I take modified release. I have been reading that the rate of elimination is raster than the rate of release and can create a chemical imbalance, which is why they make me feel crappy. I think the rate of elimination is much faster with immediate release, but I can’t find any research about this. Do you happen to know anything on this subject? Many thanks!

I just did my last Ritalin and I don't get my next prescription until November 17th. So now comes the suffering and it couldn't happen at a worse time. There's nothing to replace it except another amphetamine and it's horrible. I always come up short because how can't you I mean honestly is there anyone an adult who's prescribed Ritalin where it lasts until your next prescription is ready? The answer is no. If anyone knows of anything that can remotely take its place that you can get over the counter please let me know. Cuz I can't stand this. There are some nasal inhalers benzedrex for one which is basically an amphetamine unfortunately I can find it in the stores around here. It helps if you break open to soak the paper and get it in you. But it's still not the same. Isn't it a shame that we just can't go to the store and get what we want instead of having to go through a doctor and getting a prescription. I get 90 20 mg ones a month they generally last two weeks. Because I need it. But the law says you've got to go through the proper channels. Of course you can get as much alcohol as you want that deadly deadly awful drug alcohol is everywhere. I've never gotten into a fight while on Ritalin I've never done anything stupid I drive better I'm more productive but you can't just go to the store and get it. Now if I wanted to go and get a large bottle of bourbon and drink it and God knows what would happen that's okay. This is so wrong. That is not freedom. I live in the US the great free country but I can't get this beneficial medication anytime I want but I can get the worst drug on Earth anytime I want does this make sense to anyone? Once again if anyone out there knows anything it'll take the edge off the horrible withdrawal please let me know thank you

But at least the drug dealers are happy. Because your body needs to get used to the influx of dopamine that it's not used to, this can be really exhaustive on your internalsystem. Usually you build up methylphenidate over the course of a week starting with 5-10 mg pills (depending on your body mass index) and not starting with 20mg pills at once. FYI, this will better once your body is used to it. If it doesn't, you might have something else than adhd. I mean there are people whom get high on 20-30mg regularly, seeing those people shouldn't have "the same tolerance like you are supposed to have" because they do not take it daily, states how high this dosage actually is. Usually people test out this medicine with 5-10mg pills and I can barely believe that they actually let you start on 20mg pills. How much do you have to take daily?
Are you taking the next dose right on time? Like say... at least 30-40 minutes before the effect disappears of the previous dose. Usually I experience tiredness and rebound effects when I take my next dose too late. Depending on what you are doing at that time, the effects can render away within 4 hrs, since the effects gets burned up as you burn up the "dopamine" fuel. Usually it's about 5-6 when you're just relaxing.

@@sloppyprogrammer4373 thank you for your response! i dont usually take them on time. sometimes i take it in the morning before meal then take it again before sleep. when i take it, it really helps me alot regarding my executive functions. unfortunately, in our country they dont sell lower doses like 5-10mg thats why i was prescribe with 20mg which actually shocked my system at first eventually making me sleepy after couple of hours. i only take them for 2 weeks then goes on drug holiday. i have a very demanding work, not sure if it really burns so much dopamine.

@@sorandom4076 Are you sure you don't have serotonin deficiency syndrome because it's sounds more like that? @@sorandom4076 In my country ritalin/methylphenidate doesn't even get prescribed if you have severe mood swings and usually they prescribe dexamphetamine or some benzo instead.
I'd consult another psychiatrist or doctor to be honest and see if they have a better alternative. I'm not saying you don't have ADHD, but since the past 10 years they are very easy on diagnosing ADHD and High-functioning Autism so they can prescribe drugs you probably don't need.
I'd really go for a second opinion if that's possible or try to see if there is something else you can do to relax your brain.
(though, if you live in USA it might be very expensive. I am fortunate enough to live in socialist/liberal West-European country. so we're mostly insured for health/mental health related issues. Consults basically cost nothing for us except for the default contribution you have to pay once you receive help, which for us is only about 350/400 a year and you can pay it off in 12-24 terms depending on the insurance agency). Sadly we're not insured for specialist treatments in other countries, but that's to be expected anyway.

I just took my first dose of Ritalin 5mg yesterday and it gave me bad anxiety. After the anxiety wore off I was amazed of how calm and focused I felt and then shortly after I realized I had clenched jaws and my chest/lungs felt weird. I felt like cracked out so I didn’t take my second dose. I’m 41 and I can’t imagine going through all that as a child. Maybe there are better more natural options for him?

It’s not affective for me, I’m planning on asking for vyvanse. Concerta wasn’t good for me, I’m on the highest MG possible. I do feel awake but not focused, it’s more of a get me off of my bed drug mixed with random fits of anxiety and for some reason I cough a lot on it. Why is coughing a symptom with this drug, it’s like a dry cough randomly.

I think meds are one thing but it’s not to rely on for motivation, you use water and exercise for increase focus ??? Idk that’s what I was told

Duh, yes it could affect your heart, not to mention your poor liver trying to detox that.

396mg of Ritalin is likely a lethal dose for the average person. Given the maximum legal dose (Australia) is 40mg in instant release, taking almost 10 times the legal dose is likely invariably fatal should you weigh less than maybe 150kg and have extremely strong cardiovascular fortitude. Stay safe.

Speed is such a dirty drug and the negative side effects always outweigh any short term benefit. You're best off drinking a can of monster energy drink or doing a line...

Doing a line is literally just doing speed bro, Ritalin is different from speed.
