So yeah, just ordered the JHS AT and an ARDX20. You guys are costing me so much money! I've also been on the waiting list for the King of Tone since November.
I do believe the Analogman ARDX20 also has an effects loop to add effects to the repeats. I mention this because I love messing around with adding reverb, phase, flange etc. to the delay repeats. I have a Seymor Duncan Vapor Trail which I bought because I wanted the effects loop feature. Great show, love the sound of the Analogman delay!
On the basis of this video I ordered both boxes from the gig rig. I had been mulling what sort of delay I needed for some time and am thrilled with this. There is literally no setting that doesn't work well and it never overtakes the main signal or turns mushy. I can't imagine my sound without this, Truly one of my best pedal purchases.
Hi Daniel, you mentioned having the Timeline AND the ARDX20 or your personal pedalboard and that gave me a possible show idea for you. I'm very curious as to what your board looks like and would love to hear the tones you get from it... a pedalboard run through maybe? Love this show!! Keep it up. One day... the G2 will be mine! :)
Thankyou Daniel The Gig Rig I just recently bought the ARDX20 + AMAZE0 combo mostly based on the stength of this video (and my experience with his other pedals).
OMG it is sooo planed.. I love how they organically grew in TPS. That delay sounds as great as every modern equivalent. Sasquatch oscillation! Never thought of shaving arms until now... Someone had a preroll on the way to the video shoot.
I just discovered your videos. Great stuff... informative, interesting, accessible, and amusing (oh and with some great playing on them!). Thanks! Oh, should I guess that Mick is not too much into modulation effects? I really enjoyed his amusement at some of the sounds produced. :-D
The more I listen to Analog Delays - I Realize that They sit-better-in-the-mix ( to my ears ), and Doesn't step-on your original Sound or mess with the Tempo. I wish Analogman did a Self Enclosed Unit ? C'mon Mike. I will drive up to Connecticut in 45 min !!! Analogman ARDX20 = Sounded Phenomenal.
Loving it again. Any chance you could do a video or two on the more technical side of things? Like controlling one G2 with another and all the wonderful things you can do with MIDI
Hope all is well. I run a Mesa Cali Tweed and a Mesa Fillmore 50. Stereo or Wet/Dry via a AB Baby. Love the Memory Man but also Love anything Analog Man produces. Can you get the Memory Man tone from the Analog Man Delay ?
Went to Analogman’s website to check the prices. The delay is a very reasonable price. Was going to order one only to see “We are out of these and don’t know when they’ll be back in stock”. So aggravating. I love my Analogman pedals but you have to wait weeks or a year to get stuff from them. I’m waiting on a red dot Sun Lion now(hopefully only a couple weeks) Waited a year in line to get my King Of Tone. Damn it! Take my money and make me a delay, Analogman!!
Hi ...I bay a Analogman Delay with Amazeo ... my resume : AMAZING DELAY Pedal ... brilliand and one of the best that I play in my live. I play 58 years guitar. my dad have the tape Echo and anather Vintage pedal´s and tape Echo machines. ( sooy for my Bad Englisch ;) ) .I LOVE YOUR PEDAL SHOW: RESPECT :)
simply righteous sound, especially with the drive pedals. Mick didn't seem quite as enthused as Dan.. until he started playing with it himself, loving the slapback, and then the OD. There's the Dirty Radish boost, what's the other drive pedal used? Something to note with this pedal- for those interested, check out the link. There are several customizable options for this pedal. My critique with it was there's no way to adjust how dark the delay is... lo and behold, "Add 3-way high cut switch $45 [Add $45.00]The ARDX20 has a slight high cut DIP switch on the inside. But we can add an external toggle with stock (middle) and medium and strong high cut positions. Fantastic. wish it was a knob, but I'll take a switch.
Love the show guys. Seriously, I get excited every time you guys post. What pick ups are in that Tele? It sounds amazing (though, everything on your show sounds awesome). Great riff Mick- remember that from the Fender vintage series review clips.
Daniel TheGigRig Great demo. Do you know about the Sib Echodrive? Opinions? Do you know if the red one is digital? I've seen some refer to the blue one as analog, so I assume the red is digital. (I bought the red one about 12 years ago.)
Since you like the JHS Angry Charly so much you should really check out the Panther Cub from JHS! This is an all analog Delay with 1000 msec. delaytime and taptempo. It is soooo awesome!
Guys. Awesome as ever! These videos are so educational and also entertaining. All you are doing though is making me need a bigger board for all the superb pedals you demonstrate. Any chance you could do a video on power attenuators? I love the tones from my amp when the valves are working hard but we often need a lower stage volume.
Would you guys say the Tonal Recall sounds darker than the Analogman? The Analogman almost reminds me more of the Memory Man, more so than the Tonal Recall. Perhaps a video on several analog delays? Maybe a Memory Man, Analogman, Tonal Recall, AD9, DM-2W, Vapor Trail, annd Carbon Copy.. cuz everyone uses it.
Greetings from argentina! your channel is awesome, i'm really glad you guys share some knowledge with us, it's very usefull. what about the tc x4 delay? i've never seen it on your reviews. is it a good choice?
Thank you for demonstrating this fantastic pedal. I purchased one about a month ago and it sounds exactly how I hoped it would. I normally use a Fulltone TTE or an old EP3 unit but this has replaced those for now. I've also been debating whether to buy an Amazeo and this demo has cemented the decision that I should! Are you aware of any UK stockists for it?
Hey Dan! I just landed a Rev2 ARDX20. I know you’ve rocked one of these for a long time! Are we talking the same tonally between the old box and the newer ones? I know there’s a dark switch on some of the new enclosures. Anything else to consider? Love the show! It’s my go to when it come to gear!
Thanks for that great review and all the effort you put into your videos. Daniel, does the Amazeo offer a triplet subdivision? And how would you compare the Analogman delay to the Diamond Memory Lane jr?
I love it, seriously great sounding amp. I feature it on an upcoming video. it doesn't sound like anything else, which is great but difficult to reference it. Set of cathode bias EL34's in the output stage, handmade English transformers, sounds superb :)
Uh $1,800?? They're so damn cool, but for the two boxes? Dang... So, is there a "Poor man's" Amazeo for those who would rather send their kid's to college? With the word "Rather" used in a pejorative sense. Great video, thanks guys.
I know this video is from antiquity, but could someone please confirm if I can us G3 for tap tempo on this pedal? I'm seeing mixed opinions on the AMAZE1 and would like to have another option. Thanks.
Check the manuals section of analogman s site…there’s an amaze1 manual that show you how to calibrate the tap tempo…mine is dialed in flawlessly at -3 across the board (it will make sense when you see the document)
The only issue with this is that they are sold sepately. Not a big deal and I must say a fair price when you see how much strymon and the like want for their products (even they're not overpriced for what you get).
Yeah, and they're great, I have one here and it sounds fantastic, but there's something about the specific sound of the AnalogMan delay that works better in my rig :)
Yeah, they're sometimes a bit thick with my j20. Would be the analogman be crisper with the j20? I also always wondered: Do you actually use the z cable? I never see it on your board! Btw, try picklejuice for your hangover! ;)
I don't use delay at all, I want to, but whenever I put it on anything other than a clean tone it just sounds and feels wrong to me. I actually have a friends Timeline while he's working overseas. To be honest it scares me, it's far to complex and I just can't get along with it. Loved this video though and I may endeavor to have another go with it, here's hoping......
Get a Wampler faux tape echo. Has tap tempo and is a simple pedal to use. With dirt or clean tones. I like delay but I don't get in to DEEP swirling delays and washy stuff. Just tape delay for some of the gigs and slapback on some blues stuff.
Be cautious though, if your Neck Shifts, it will Change your Action, Intonation and the accuracy of being able to Tune-Up properly. I Never shake my guitar. If I want more sustain I use a Thorpy FX Muffroom Cloud with an OCD.
+Ellio1862 On the surface it seems like it would be easier but there's a big learning curve and while you can use the onboard screen and controls to change your settings you really need to use the Axe Edit software to get the most out of it. I had an Axe Fx for about a week and I was very happy to go back to my amp and pedals afterwards as they were (in my opinion) more fun, easier to use, and sounded better
Hi guys, Mick says: "Hello folks, thanks for the kind comments and suggestions on all these vids. I was editor in chief of Future's guitar magazines (Guitarist, Total Guitar and Guitar Techniques) until 2013, when I left to do my own thing and start my own business. I still work with Guitarist on the video side of things and write things from time to time. I also work with Daniel as you can see, and do stuff for Andertons among others. I'm not an artist, so there's no recorded music as such. Thanks again for the kind words - we're here to pass on whatever is helpful and these vids are a lot of fun to do - I learn something every week!"
Five years old and still one of my favorite episodes.....
Man..this is six years old and that’s the best Mick tone I’ve heard in any of their videos. Just glorious!
Insane! Mick's tone with the Collings is to die for. Love this show!!
So yeah, just ordered the JHS AT and an ARDX20. You guys are costing me so much money!
I've also been on the waiting list for the King of Tone since November.
Christ! Awesome pedals though!
Love it!! How far you guys have come
Thats the best guitar tone i've ever heard (and i hear tons of great tones everyday). Even on youtube. You guys gave me chills. Cheers from Brasil!
I love analog delays, and this one sounds particularly great.
That tone you got at 11:20 was the best rock tone i've ever heard! Wow, it was Jimmy Page City!
I think the v1 enclosure looks bad ass! It's definitely harder to keep it from getting scratched though.
This video has just sold me on that pedal WOW the tone!! Thanks ! Love your videos!
WOW, what a pedal... u really blow me away with the sound of it... now i really want one...
I just got the second part of the delay and this was the video I played before it arrived. Very nice sound from 11 to 12min yes!
Thankyou Daniel The Gig Rig I just recently bought the ARDX20 + AMAZE0 combo mostly based on the stength of this video (and my experience with his other pedals).
You should do a show on mics and placement. I'm really enjoying your shows, keep em coming!
I have been 100% satisfied with everything (6 or 8 pedals) from AnalogMan! Don't hesitate to try their stuff. The King Of Tone is truly the KING!
Great Demo, I also love the fact the pedal has presets which I'm not sure was mentioned!
these video are amazing in every level. education. interesting. and two guys that love the tone
Whoa.... I've been watching that pedal show for years but here, dan seems to be SOOOOOO melow.
OMG it is sooo planed.. I love how they organically grew in TPS. That delay sounds as great as every modern equivalent. Sasquatch oscillation! Never thought of shaving arms until now... Someone had a preroll on the way to the video shoot.
Its crazy that his dual analog delay is cheaper than a king of tone which is a much simpler pedal. This is honestly a steal for a dual analog delay
Yeah, such an awesome sounding thing
I just discovered your videos. Great stuff... informative, interesting, accessible, and amusing (oh and with some great playing on them!). Thanks!
Oh, should I guess that Mick is not too much into modulation effects? I really enjoyed his amusement at some of the sounds produced. :-D
+SeasickSailor76 Both in this and the phasers videos.
+SeasickSailor76 I just realised (or think I did)... did Mick do a video advertising the new Fender AVRI Teles? If so, great playing and great sounds!
I only ever use a long and short delay on the dl4 ... Had it for years, this pedal seems like it may take its ace, great video
Dan you are either super tired or you are sick in this video? Anyways trying to catch up and watch all he shows I can these are awesome!!
So you bought a £400 timeline for 10% of your delays. Seems extravagant. 😊
According to the Analogman website, the Amazeo has been discontinued and is no longer available.
Just ordered mine alone with the NKT red dot 🔴 fuzz with LED and on/off pot.
Went to Analogman’s website to check the prices. The delay is a very reasonable price. Was going to order one only to see “We are out of these and don’t know when they’ll be back in stock”. Bump. Need to know
Love the show guys.
If you only had the space or budget for one would you get this combo or the timeline. Running straight in.
Love the history and science bits!!!
JHS panther cub is an analogue delay with 1.1 seconds of delay and tap tempo onboard (I own one, sounds great) . love the show!
+puffdragon26 cheers P :)
Since you like the JHS Angry Charly so much you should really check out the Panther Cub from JHS! This is an all analog Delay with 1000 msec. delaytime and taptempo. It is soooo awesome!
That is a killer sounding delay..no doubt. I think I need.
Mickkkkk @18:04 - So cool - I love this picking - is that a Chet Atkins piece?
Guys. Awesome as ever! These videos are so educational and also entertaining. All you are doing though is making me need a bigger board for all the superb pedals you demonstrate.
Any chance you could do a video on power attenuators? I love the tones from my amp when the valves are working hard but we often need a lower stage volume.
-b0j- fantastic idea! Its on the list.
@@TheGigRigDaniel did this happen? A link would be appreciated. Thanks.
I need that Collings guitar.
Daniel show us your pedalboard!
I just finished doing work experience in a guitar store in brisbane
+lachlan pilgrim then your future is assured ;)
Congrats! Awesome Channel!
You dudes push me to spend my money again... i need that delay so bad on my pedalboard. Big up from France
Dan’s voice sounds completely different!
Greetings from argentina!
your channel is awesome, i'm really glad you guys share some knowledge with us, it's very usefull.
what about the tc x4 delay? i've never seen it on your reviews. is it a good choice?
Would be nice to hear this set up vs. the El Capistan - analogue vs best digital representation
I sold my EL Capistan after watching this video and purchased the Analogman ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay & Amazeo. I haven't looked back!
Mick's face at 13.39 is me waiting to hear what the big deal is with the "verge of self oscillation" sound.
I don't usually like analog delays much. Not a fan of "tape echo" effects, but this sounds great!
great delay, sounded beautiful! What was the gainier OD pedal ? that sounded fantastic too
Hi there, glad you enjoyed it. That's the JHS Angry Charlie :)
Daniel TheGigRig ah ha i remember that bad boy from a few videos, what a great sounding pedal, cheers
Alright. Got the amaze1 and I can't control the time for channel a. But everything works great using it with the b channel... what's the deal
Someone seems seriously stoned in this video lol I think he’s on cold medicine lol
Would love to see a comparison with the Moog Minifooger Delay
Curious to what pedalboard and case you use?
g'day dan, is it possible to have/make an analog delay that sounds more like a digital delay for the first repeat, then degrades?
Really, really struggling to decide between the ARDX20 or the DMMTT1100...hmmm.
Hi guys
Could you do a review of the Ibanez Echo shifter 2. I'm thinking about getting one but theres no good demos.
Thanks for that great review and all the effort you put into your videos. Daniel, does the Amazeo offer a triplet subdivision? And how would you compare the Analogman delay to the Diamond Memory Lane jr?
Amazeo does offer triplet subdivisions I believe. Love the DML jr, but the AM analog liveliness just wins out for me
What do you make of the Hamstead Dan? If I remember rightly it didn't get great reviews in Guitarist! (What do they know...)
I love it, seriously great sounding amp. I feature it on an upcoming video. it doesn't sound like anything else, which is great but difficult to reference it. Set of cathode bias EL34's in the output stage, handmade English transformers, sounds superb :)
When you say el grungo, what pedal is it you add, is that the Angry Charlie?
Uh $1,800?? They're so damn cool, but for the two boxes? Dang... So, is there a "Poor man's" Amazeo for those who would rather send their kid's to college? With the word "Rather" used in a pejorative sense.
Great video, thanks guys.
This quickly became an Amaze demo.
Hi Daniel, was this going through the fx loop or up front?
I know this video is from antiquity, but could someone please confirm if I can us G3 for tap tempo on this pedal? I'm seeing mixed opinions on the AMAZE1 and would like to have another option. Thanks.
Hi James, great question, the ARDX20 uses CV messages, so you would need a MIDI to CV interface
wow! you should definately test the fulltone sste.
What is the red dirt pedal in the top left corner (underneath)?
does anyone have problems with the tap tempo going a bit slower than the actual tempo at which you tap?
Check the manuals section of analogman s site…there’s an amaze1 manual that show you how to calibrate the tap tempo…mine is dialed in flawlessly at -3 across the board (it will make sense when you see the document)
Gimenee!!! The amazeo is now listed at 15,000 dollars on the Analogman site. Yikes!
That's the old one and I'm sure it's a joke, lol.
The Amaze1 is the new one and is $150
The Kilt!!! Nice!!!
Video idea for guys: Placement of Phase pedal. In the loop? Out of the loop? Before OD/distortion? After? What do you think?
Fab tone. Is this going in the FX loop or in the front?
Thanks. Straight in the front the way God intended :)
+Daniel TheGigRig not a fan of backdoor fun, are you?
The only issue with this is that they are sold sepately. Not a big deal and I must say a fair price when you see how much strymon and the like want for their products (even they're not overpriced for what you get).
@ 20:30 yep
Ever tried a mini or moogerfooger dan? Also pretty awesome!
Btw, try picklejuice for your hangover! ;)
El Grungo is what pedal again, im rather embarrassed to ask, ive seen every episode and cant remeber.
I see that Kilt!!!
does the guitar shaking add to the tone?
Be cautious though, if your Neck Shifts, it will Change your Action, Intonation and the accuracy of being able to Tune-Up properly. I Never shake my guitar. If I want more sustain I use a Thorpy FX Muffroom Cloud with an OCD.
I’m getting a storkey listening to Dan’s voice on marijuana. Who new?
I see you have the xotic wah .i got one too. Brilliant wah!!!
What overdrive were you kicking on?
It's the JHS Angry Charlie
If you need all those pedals wouldn't it be easier to just buy an Axe-Fx?
You don't get it
tone > doing what's easier
+Ellio1862 On the surface it seems like it would be easier but there's a big learning curve and while you can use the onboard screen and controls to change your settings you really need to use the Axe Edit software to get the most out of it. I had an Axe Fx for about a week and I was very happy to go back to my amp and pedals afterwards as they were (in my opinion) more fun, easier to use, and sounded better
Bromance Central ;-)
chrisheyes66 hahahahahaha
Daniel TheGigRig The way Mick looks lovingly into Dan's eyes you know that sweet tonelove is happening. Keep it up folks.
Who's Mick and where can I ear more from him ?
He's the editor of Guitarist Magazine (I think) and demonstrator alongside Peter Honoré in the Anderton's videos.
Christian Friis Thanks ;)
YOu can get most of that tone with the toneprint app with the Flashback TC, if you mess with the settings
Does the amazeo work with any analog delay?
Curtis Jeffs I don't think so
Oh, silly Brits. If you were spelling analog correctly the company would be Analogueman ;)
Too much self oscillation and you'll go blind.
Dan you are either super tired or you are sick in this video? Anyways trying to catch up and watch all the shows I can these are awesome!!
