Your first suggestion for a more fun and creative hairstyle makes her look years younger and I prefer it. ❤ The very short cut looks stunning but not everyone has the nerve to pull it off.
@@hanniehoekstra8511 Thank you! I love what you said about "nerve"! That's something a lot of people miss. You have to be confident in whatever style you're wearing as it's a HUGE part of how the style looks on you!
The short hair took 20 years off of her look (and she already looked fantastic for 60)! I think she should totally go for it. Not everyone can pull it off but she has the perfect face shape for it. Do it sis!!
The second curveball is a definite winner. It is playful, youthful and brings a brighter overall appearance to her face. This hairstyle brings out her lovely eyes and shows off her beautiful face. Go for it, Mary! 👍
Justin…first of all…THANK YOU! I chuckled out loud at some of your commentary 😆 ❤ SO many exciting options 🤩 I absolutely love the shaggy curveball #1 (maybe the hippie chick in me? 😂). I also never even thought about the low lights but WOW what a difference that made!! 😱 I did once have a much shorter cut (when I was much younger & likely braver LOL) and I did think it was super cute…think I might need to work up to that one again 😅 Loving all these fantastic suggestions Justin ❤ thank you so much…I’ve a lot to think about now 🤔 LOL! Now….off to find a stylist who will watch this video 🤪 PS…never stop doing these videos…they are awesome, so much fun and you are giving us all hope and motivation to be our best selves 🙏 All the best…Mary P.
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes! The tips to shape up her bob were subtle but really made a difference. I actually liked the first curve ball best because I think it looked fun and youthful but still had a little more length to play with. The second one looked great too because of her nice bone structure but a little short for my comfort level. I love how you help all of us with hair issues in such a fun and humble way! Thank you!
The whole concept of this series is to look younger, right? I think the first curveball hit it out of the park! She looks extra "cute" in that one. The second one was good too, but the first really brought the twinkle in her eyes out. Great video plus, as always, love the scenery!
Yes! She should do the last one! As a matter of fact… I’m taking this style to my stylist and making it happen next week!!! I’ve been searching for a hairstyle (I’m 52) that is age appropriate, yet funky and edgy. This is it. So thank you!❤🎉
With Mary's sparkling eyes and whimsical/elegant tattoos, every recommendation you made for her would be spot on target for her goals. She could easily rock Curveball #1, then decide if she is willing to go shorter. Curveball #2 is my favorite! All of the curveball options are very versatile, and they would look great with a kicker of color added as well.
Curveball #2 all the way!! It brings your eye upward and really lightens/brightens up her face making her look more youthful and fun. I’m a 53 year old wavy haired woman who is not afraid of shorter hair and I’m just beginning my silver hair grow out. Just got my hair cut from shoulder dusting bob to chin-length inverted bob with some fringes to soften my large forehead. Can’t wait to see if she takes your curveball suggestion.
I like your first wispy style you had for her. Looked more artistic and younger. I’m the same age and really struggling what to do with my hair also. 💓
I like that one as well. It's also a safer bet. It would be a good place to start on. her way to going shorter if she wanted to end up short at some point.
Great video Justin, thanks! Most artistic, "artsy", creative types I know don't really fuss much with their own physical appearance, especially hair. It seems all energy goes into creating their art. That being said, the vibe I get from her picture and email, I don't think Mary would choose or be able to manage curveball 2, although it is VERY attractive on her. It would involve too much styling on a daily basis. Curveball 1 is sassy and cute if she wants a different style. Ultimately I feel she's comfortable with the ease, no fuss/no muss of her current style so your suggestions of low-lights and improved cutting techniques are spot on. I think that's all the farther she would go
Yes I agree with you re the styling on the short hairstyle. I have similar layered bob hair and would love that short hairstyle but would be hard to get it to stay up like that. Also I would think keeping hair short would take a lot more maintenance and trips to the hairdresser.
You’re not crazy at all!! You’re creative and push the followers to use imagination and courage to change style in a way that better reflects our moment of life.
I'm loving 2.5!!!! Even though I only see it from the side view, it just looks like it gives her the perfect head shape and it looks natural, like it was meant for her.
Loved curveball 2 as soon as it showed on the screen. She has great facial features and highlights her eyes. It looks fun and kicky. Gives her less of the soccer mom look and more of the I’m ready to kick life’s a$$ look.
I love the first style you did that is 13 minutes in. It looks more fresh and like an artist than the standard bob. I love your tips and suggestions. You nailed it! Even the short one, which would be bold, looks amazing on her pretty face!
Oh!!! I told my husband it's too long and the grey washes out her complection and I think a little light pink with the style would punk it up and be beautiful!!!!! Bravo!!!
@@justinhickox I like that little bit of color in her hair! I makes her look more artistic and more youthful. it's gorgeous and I love it! She really pulls it off
Curveball 2, absolutely! It looks totally fabulous, and more importantly it seems to match the vibe of her letter, which described her “inner” self. Beautiful happens when inner and outer are in sync ❤
I also loved the short hair on her, it does look fun. Curveballs always seem to be the ones I like. That view was great and listening to the birds singing ❤
I really love Curveball #1! It is stylish, the length is youthful, and it can be styled casual or more whimsy when she wants it to be. And the lowlites would be great for depth. Maybe even leave or lighten some of the grey and make it a little streaky around the face would keep it bright. Would love to know what style she decides to get.
I LOVE the birds singing in the background! Listening to birds sing is listening to life! Thank you, Justin, for doing your best thing out in the wild! Love your channel as I’ve learned so much!
She looks very nice in both of your options, the whimsical and the very short off of her face, but my favorite is the whimsical. It's very cute on her. I don't think she could go wrong with either. Thanks for your demo.
Wow! I like all of these suggestions on her! The subtle changes of her current style are enhancing, and she can definitely rock the two short styles. But, my favourite is the first curveball-the wispy take on a bob.
Thank you! I always struggle a bit with the mistakes. It's not always about making huge changes, so I fear people will think nothing looks different. I appreciate you seeing the difference here! The first curveball would also be a great transition style into going shorter!
Wow loved this episode! The 5 small charges and #1 looked great but OMG #2 looove! Really looked like it matched her personality in the letter and lightened up her face. She looks 🔥!
Justin, you have so many great suggestions in this video. Low lights are a win--a little color around her face really brightens her skin tone. Love both curveballs but I think the first one is the best, although bringing her hair off her forehead in the second curveball really highlights her bone structure. She cannot go wrong with any of the choices!
@@justinhickox I noticed that you didn’t mention her glasses or bangs, but both curveballs pull the bangs away from her face and open it up. I think they would also look good with glasses.
Her hair is my hair! I have gone short, long, curly, red, blonde highlights etc., but basically the same style. I don't like my chin area so I like that somewhat disguised although long hair drags my look down. I have tried the curve ball #2 style but even though using many different products, the top always goes way flat. Tomorrow is my monthly hair appt. and I will suggest more layering in the back. My hair is much thinner now & even though I'm 72, I'm not ready to go gray. On Mary, she looked super in all of the styles! Thank you for your always fun videos!
I LOVE curveball #1!! It was fun & whimsical. I think it tooks years off her look. Curveball 2 & 2.5 made her look older in my opinion. But all were good options.
I love both the shorter cuts and especially the versatility of the last one! I’m 71 and I currently have a similar cut to hers and I have the same problems, so this was an awesome episode to watch. Mine was REALLY short last summer, but I got a little tired of getting “Sir’d” even though my hair is bright pink. I don’t have particularly feminine features, unfortunately. I’m scheduled for a haircut next week, so I’m now going with some ideas. Thank you!
Absolutely loved the 2nd curve ball on her. There was a lot of versatility in the way she could dress it up or punk it out, not to mention it showed off her fun artistic side and her great cheekbones and smile. Hope she goes for it😉
“…little things that add up” Exactly my approach. Excellent video, thank you! First you made corrections conservatively, then made your curveballs, super! Curveball 2 of 3 rocks!
Great episode! I've made my living as a professional artist for many years so this was really interesting to me. I think the first curveball is really cute but (I know I'm in the minority here) the second one is a hard no for me. It's not that I dislike short hair. My own hair is super short right now. The second curveball doesn't scream artsy to me. It screams granny or elementary school principal. There's nothing wrong with either of those things at all, and while they may be "craftsy", " artsy" is a different direction entirely. If someone gave me that style I would come home and break out the clippers. Love all of the other suggestions for her though.
I LOVE what you did to her hair! Both of the new styles are excellent, more playful and creative without being in any way "out there." I agree that warming up her color DEFINITELY helps her skin tone. While I like both of your suggested cuts, I lean toward the first more whimsical one more.
I have to say that I was surprised by her email saying she was an artist and liked peek-a-boo color because her photo was so conservative. As soon as you flashed the curveballs up I was like “YES! That’s the look!” If ever a face and a personality could pull off that “punk” #2 look it’s her!
Hey, I’ll definitely consider that for an upcoming video! I have done a makeover a while back that dealt with a client that had a bit of a double chin. Not sure if you checked that out but it was fun and it may give you some insight for now until I can get another video out.
Love all the curveballs! And the lowlights definitely flatter her skin tone. Both the curveballs’ length and styling options would dramatically uplift her look. I really hope she chooses a curveball and then sends in some pictures! She seems like a really fun and energetic person and she deserves to have her style fit the artistic, playful soul she is inside! PS I like the shorter hair best!
Love the added dimension of low lights. Curveball #1 is a nice improvement and contemporary, Corveball #2 is 100% outstanding! It is absolutely stunning and accentuates her beautiful bone structure. Her eyes and smile radiate. Curveball 2.5 (or 2b) is a no go for me. It looks like every other mature women and drags her face down. Mary - Curveball #2! Curveball #2! Curveball #2!
I think curveball #2.5 looks more punk than #2. I love that kind of piece-y short cut that can be worn forward, back, up, or even spiked. I think Mary will have a lot of fun with it, too. I'm taking a screenshot of curveball #1 for the next cut of my hormone-induced thinning crown. I liked the various cuts I gave myself during Covid lock down, but I'm back in the office and not confident I can repeat my earlier successes. This cut is completely new for me and better for my thinning hair than some other inspiration photos I found. If Mary chooses this one, we can be nearly twins.
I have her current haircut right now, and had curveball #1 when I was younger, and I loved it. I guess it depends on whether her wardrobe will mesh with something more edgy too. That’s what keeps me from going that way again bc my style has migrated in the conservative direction. However, I also LOVE the other option for her face shape, if she’s willing to go that short. It could eliminate even more maintenance and it definitely looks great with her eyes and face shape. Haha, Justin, on edge from a brush with Bigfoot? Is he going to bomb your shot? 😄 thanks for the video!
I love him! He has so much talent with the scissors and I love how he can look at you and know exactly what hairstyle is the best for you. And I think he's easy on the eyes ❤🔥
I agree w/ u. The final shortest cut that was up away from her face was very nice. It looked, fun, sassy and elegant all in one. A Jamie Lee Curtis look.
Love this channel! I get “colour” added as I go greyer to help enhance my natural. It’s fun. Still trying to get a good style for my face shape and thick wavy hair!
Thank you Justin for talking about bringing color into her hair. I too have gray hair. There was something about me that I couldn’t identify. It was my pale complexion. I will now talk to my hairdresser, about putting some low lights in my hair.
I’ve just found your site….I’m binging….LOVE IT❤ ! I agree with you for this individual she needs more spunk! I’m 65 and I have always gone with the lasted styles. My sisters think I’m insane but it’s my hair, they still have their styles from high school! BORING!!!! So I am learning SOO much from your channel! Don’t stop sharing…your knowledge is intoxicating! Love your nature backgrounds. Love your hair too btw😊
You have such an amazing eye for detail when it comes to subtleties that flatter faces.Curveball 1 is my fav, so edgy and fun, with less maintenance than the second option.

Actually WOW! Number 2 Curveball. Wow! This cut really lifts her facial features up. And it actually is, although short, quite feminine! Very nice!
I love # 3 on her. It opens up her face and wow! Beautiful 😊
The last one for sure, no doubt in my mind. She looks amazing.
Love that shorter cut. She looks rockin in it.
Younger and more fun!
I like the first curve ball. I appreciate hearing all your ideas and your gracious humor.
I LOVE the short, up swept one, too!
The short one, laying down is good, too!
You're so welcome! I'm glad I could help! I can't wait to hear how the color turns out if you do it!
I like all your thoughts for her. Especially the short version and definitely the low lites in her hair. She looks amazing.
I LOVE the short hair! She has such beautiful facial features and a dazzling smile. The short hair highlights all of her beauty.
Wow, April looks great in a short cut 😍.
I totally agree!!
Love the after. Subtle but it makes a lovely difference. Your attention to detail is wonderful
Omgosh! The 1st curveball looks FANTASTIC!!
#1, definitely. I love the color contrast and the whimsy. Very Puckish.
I love it. Like the color.
Would love to see long wavy hair.

I love it short and up!! She looks so much younger!!
You nailed it, Justin, with the shorter look and adding some hair color.. Beautiful!
So enjoy your videos!! I love ALL your options. She has a beautiful face.
I agree short - both short styles look great - and it’s in keeping with styles of today ❤😊

LOVE your Curveball #1 - so fun! Thought it made her look years younger and again…FUN !!
You have such an amazing eye for detail when it comes to subtleties that flatter faces.Curveball 1 is my fav, so edgy and fun, with less maintenance than the second option.
