- 1/5/05-Pine Valley gathers to celebrate Joe Martins 35th anniversary at Pine Valley Hospital. Show creator Agnes Nixon appears as hospital board member Agnes Eckhart. This marks the last appearance of everybodys favorite aunt, Phoebe English Tyler Wallingford. Ruth Warrick died only a few weeks later. Ericas former flames Nick Davis and Tom Cudahy are also in attendance.

Phoebe was the original diva of Pine Valley to the end. Continue to rest peacefully.
She was in frail health in her final episode, but it was nice to see her one last time, and creator Agnes Nixon making an amusing cameo.
BaileySEA Agnes always made an appearance for important events. The 35 and 40’anniversaries, Phoebe and Myrtle’s funerals. I think even Mona’s.
I think that Ruth Warrick was in perfect mental health, but in poor physical health, which is why she didn't want to be heard on her last time on AMC as an ill, elderly lady. I love you, Ruth Warrick, and I grew up with your dazzling portrayal of Phoebe Tyler.

My Lord!! The incomparable Ruth Warwick, what a beautiful, charming and gifted actress. She was one of Hollywood’s grandest actresses of the golden years. We miss you Phoebe Tyler Wallingford. I remember a week after this aired being in Times Square and the News flashes by that Ruth had passed away. When this episode aired, friends of mine who watched the show said they burst into tears when they saw her coming in because it was such an unexpected surprise. She had not been on since the 4th of July episode the previous year and had only been on sporadically the previous years, sitting imperiously in the background in one episode when Vanessa was holding Greenlee hostage. The late Marj Dusay said one of the pleasures of being on the show was getting to know Ruth as well as Susan..
35 years before, no one would have been happy to see Phoebe walk into a room, because she would have been there only to cut them down. LOL
I would love to see some of those old scenes. I understand she was a real terror when she was married to Charles. She calmed down a lot after marrying Langley.
How sad. Poor Ruth Warrick looked completely confused about where she was and who all those people were. BUT it was still nice to see. Phoebe was a character to remember, for sure. And Nick, too.

They should have had a line where Nick said he could never return to PV to live because of Phil and Anne’s tragic deaths.

Here's another fun fact . Agnes Nixon along with Bill Bell attended Northwestern University which was also the Alma Mater of Megan Markle. I told UK Soap Fans about her start on General Hospital back in the day where she was an Under Five and they were blown away. She did so much for Daytime Programming. Havin gpeople of color on the Show. Creating the First African American Superstar Couple, The First Same Sex Kiss Nine Years after it took place on Brookside & Emmerdale in The UK.

I cant prove it, but I think our beloved Agnes ALMOST says Ruth's name as she leaves Erika and Nick. :)

wonderful show and humanity does show. Phoebe and Palmer near the end of their acgtors and characters lives looked really frail. I honestly in a way did not want to see Phoebe looking so out of it. Like it must have been bad and sad if she couldn't say one line. I found Agnes Nixon's acting a bit wooden but she managed to pop up for big events. We all get old and I respect tha; I just hate seeing the ravages of time being so cruel to our stars. The only good thing about All My Children being cancelled is we never will get to see Erica Kane get old and fat.
well Agnes wasn't an actress, she was a writer. She cameo'd from time to time but that wasn't her full time gig

Ruth lived one heck of a life. True life murder, too! To see her pretty much at the mercy of anyone to wheel her around was pathetic. Sometimes it is best to remember them last in their flaming glory, growling and hissing at Erica :) Those two always turned up the heat in battle.

He was from PV but had built his career/life in California. He moved back after his wife (Tara and Jeff's mom) passed away.
Wasn't Pheobe's final scene when she told Brooke that Langley was waiting for her?

I notice Pheobe has no spoken lines and really looks confused about who everyone is. I wander if she had lost her mind by this point but then again I doubt they would have her on here if she was in that poor of health.
She was mentally a ok. She was so frail. In her earlier months, she was in that wheel chair but still acting. This was her final episode.😥😥😥
They said at the time that she drank the champagne and was falling asleep throughout the day, they had to keep waking her up for filming and photos.
They should bring Agnes Eckhart to GH as relations to Bill.
Eve Larsen Sadly, Agnes Nixon is in such bad shape now she couldn't do it. I saw an interview with her that was taped not too long ago and it appears she has had a stroke or some other debilitating health problem.
