I watched a couple of your myth/how to/info videos. They're very well made and I wasn't really able to find anything wrong with the information. They're very well made. You provide very easy explanations for everyone to understand. Good job!
Thanks! I try to be as knowledgeable as I can with jumping, and especially careful with anything I put in a video. I'm sure stuff will sneak in anyway at some point. I'll try my best to correct it once I've determined for sure that something is wrong and I can articulate what the facts are.
I only want to say this for perspective not to brag. I never understood the controversy behind holding w because back wheb i learbed how to jump, before JA even existed, it was practically common sense. However, before JA existed the community was a lot smaller. I always thought it was weird how this whole problem came up but i guess i get it. It's just silly to me. JA has opened a universe of discoveries tho and positivity for the community.
So my issue is that I physically cannot Let go of the W button. If I do I just end up hard holding a different button instead. I physically have no idea what to do.
How about we have a video about ways to practice rocket jump? I listend to your advice in discord and started to practice on maps with timer on, trying to beat my pb and try for flawless on easier maps, and my improvement was HUGE!
That's awesome! Yeah, I've definitely been thinking about making something like that. I've tried recording myself talking off the cuff while practicing a couple times, but it hasn't led anywhere yet. It's very different from my normal format and it'll take a bit to get used to.
Hey man loved this video, I've been rocket jumping for 200 hours but never learned the fundamentals. I want to get better so I am trying to learn the "theory", any suggestions for other youtubers who explain rocket jumping in depth? Hope u make more videos like this one.
There really aren't many resources out there, which is exactly why I made my channel. Afterglow and dukezilent (dukez on TH-cam) have both done some stuff similar to what I'm doing now, but afterglow isn't active anymore, and dukez slowed down significantly due to life circumstances. gorge004 has some t6 map-specific videos that are really good but very niche, exile has a couple of videos (one on wallpogo and one on edgebugs), and skittletits has some "walk and talk" style videos for JA Classic and jump_beef. And then there's the popular channels like Nate Fox, Soundsmith, and Muselk which are very high production value and explain some of the basics, but don't get deep into jumping like I do and are liable to have a few misconceptions sprinkled in that hurt me a bit when I hear them. I'd keep my eye on dukez' channel, he's got really good stuff, and when he has more time to put out videos he'll have a wealth of resources.
@@Firestabber great reply thanks! I'll be waiting new videos from you, maybe something like explaining when w/s strifing is useful and how to use it (in combat) would be very helpful! another good topic might be bhoping for trolldier? not sure if ur channel is meant for that.
Great question, took me a bit to figure it out. You have to put a couple of commands in the console: cl_view gets you your entity number, then cl_ent_bbox to display the bbox (replace with the result from cl_view, such as "cl_ent_bbox 2").
Yeah, it does. Technically you can still strafe with W+A or W+D, but it requires you to turn at a weird angle that makes it awkward and difficult to judge, plus it makes it really hard to turn one direction, then the other. For that reason, the common advice and the habit all experienced jumpers have is to face forwards, hold either just A or just D, then turn. Check out my Easy Strafe video where I talk about that in more detail: th-cam.com/video/QPx7jduIJ_A/w-d-xo.html I'm also working on an in-depth video on strafing, we'll see how long it takes me to finish that.
you're probably not at that level but wallpogo is mostly w strafe and there's also using s while strafing for tight strafes sometimes also some rare cases of w strafe for wallshots, but most of the time it's gonna be using s and not w
It is hell of a fun map, played on it a few times but can't recall the name. I think it was done by someone like Oatmeal, because he uses the same textures, but I can't say for sure
you deserve a bigger platform, no one made guides on advanced rocket jumping as good and simple as you did

Brilliantly explained...
Godspeed-!
Finally, someone to explain things that I couldn't even put in words. I really appreciate the time and effort you take to make these videos.
i hold down space and crouch in the air just in case i encounter a water glide
that was some really unclean surfing on momentum but you still got the completion! great video brotha
These make my realize I will achieve my dream of rocket jumping
This was a really excellent video. Very informative and amazing jumps in the background :)
Thanks for checking it out! I'm always in the business of figuring out how to get better - at jumping, teaching, and video making :)
Nice guide! Its the questions I've had when I started jumping. Wish you were there that time :p

1.1k hours in rocket jumping holding W, it's time to change.
I'm painfully guilty of holding W. Have a sub btw!

Ayyy fire just made his first video with surfing gameplay in the background
This is why im subbed to you

good stuff
Yes please. Verry interesting.
really nice video!!

does it hurt to hold w if you strafe too?

txs men !
what's the name of the jury jump map you were running?
0:50 what map is this? looks fun.
jump_porridge
It's technically unfinished and not on tempus though
not super related to the vid, but what's the map at 0:50 ?
looks fun as hell

I'm pretty sure it's porridge, could be wrong tho
@@Coolant5164 There ya go, knew it had something to do with Oatmeal
sorry for asking but what jump map is that? 0:55?
It's jump_porridge by Oatmeal! It's a pretty cool jurf map, short, but a lot of fun :)
@@Firestabber i mean it looks very fun. Also i really love thesee maps where you Can skip levels like speedrunning i really injoy thoes maps
Im hold space because it give me a contra to other fingers and its more comfterball
No-one in their right mind have ever had any of these thoughts, did you just create 6 myths out of thin air for this video?
