oh yeah I've seen that! Bit different to my theory because I think Macaque is a clone of Sun Wukong, but that video just thought Macaque cloned himself which would mean he didn't actually die. Of course, we now know Macaque didn't die, but it isn't really explained (maybe he just escaped into the shadows in season 1? 👀 personally, I always thought his "death" in season 1 was kind of ambiguous anyway lol). Interesting that both of us link Macaque to clones but came to completely different conclusions/ideas. Also cool they also noticed the minifigure face difference, although they attribute it to be being a mistake while I think it was on purpose ;)
RV Sketch friendship with Macaque hide his Secret from sun Wukong try to fit in and when secret got out, why fight each-other a lost friendship that's a mystery, have any theories
maybe. It could be that Macaque is a clone of Sun Wukong AND he made a clone of himself to teach MK. However, I feel like season 2 and 3 have disproven My Brick Opinions' theory, because he came back and it seems he was never dead to begin with. Plus, I'm not sure why Macaque would have a scar but his clones wouldn't. And if what My Brick Opinions said about him being a clone because he doesn't show his scar is true, that would mean in season 2 and 3 that's not the real Macaque, because we don't see his scar - seems unlikely. It seems Macaque is just wearing an illusion to hide his scar. Additionally, we've never seen Macaque being able to make actual clones - even in season 3 he can still only make shadow clones. I do think it would be interesting, but I feel it's unlikely and making Macaque a clone the whole time would just erase all his character development since it wouldn't really be him.
at 3:51 we can see that macaques eye is purple, I think this can mean that macaque used his glamour to make his eyes look like wukongs eyes and/or hide his scar
That's an interesting idea! I do feel like his eye was probably purple because he was using a lot of his power (and his power's are purple/pink themed). It would be funny if he was changing his eyes to look like Sun Wukong's 😅
It's quite interesting that the staff preferred to obey Macaque's will instead of MK's maybe Because he shares DNA with Sun Wukang, the staff can't differentiate between the two.

That would be really interesting! Idk if Monkie Kid will do that, but I'd love to see a Journey to the West adaptation that has him have a pair of ears for past, present, and future! It's a very cool idea :O
@@Ruu_ku oh yeah, I saw that one! Also, they can't talk about disturbing or dark stuff, since is a kids show. Anyway, as you recall in shadow play, macaque said that he and wukong used to be friends. Until, the latter left macaque in pursuit for more power. So here is my theory-senario. What if macaque used to be an actual macaque (i mean a normal monkey, not a demon) and he was best friends with wukong. But after monkey king returned from his quest for immortality and erased his name and his monkeys from death, he started noticing a darkness in his powers. Out of fear of hurting his people, he tried to pull out the dark side of his powers. However, these powers proved to be out of control and having a mind of its own. And macaque happened to be close (he feared for wukong's safety), so the dark powers went into him and transformed him into a demon monkey. After that, wukong decided to train macaque in order to control his new powers. I believe this would make a good origin story for macaque. And of course it would explain in a different way from the novel, why they are almost the same.
oh that's an interesting idea! Although, Monkie Kid does already have a bunch of dark and disturbing stuff in it lol (like Sun Wukong having a vision of MK disintegrating, it being revealed Sun Wukong killed Macaque, and when Syntax has that spider robot go inside him and come out through his flesh (we only see the shadow but it was pretty horrifying lol)).
@@RVSketch Yeah, you are right. It did go dark. I forgot to mention these instances. But, of course they can't go way dark. And of course what macaque did to one of his minions once he failed (i can't write this one for many reasons, and believe me i was shocked when i found this information online).
What's even crazier is that, around a year ago, I actually made two different videos about Macaque making a deal with his powers. And you'll never guess what else I got right! Based on the S3 sets and some S3 concept art, I predicted that Macaque's powers would switch from purple-pink to red, based on his deal! And I'm currently working on a second updated theory video after watching season 5 :)
I don't think that creating dark energy weapons is one of Monkey King's powers , I mean he no longer uses the staff , This is kind of the best time to use the ability but he doesn't use it or any golden equivalent.
Ok that's a fair point 😅. I've actually since changed my mind a bit on dark energy weapons being one of Monkey King's powers. I still think it's a possibility, though, especially since we know Sun Wukong has tons of powers, including shooting laser beams from his eyes (he briefly used this power when possessed by LBD). I've since come up with an even crazier theory to explain why MK was able to use dark energy weapons - basically I think Macaque's shadow/dark powers came from a demon called the Python Demon (they're a character in the book) and that demon has been influencing/infecting MK. I know this sounds very unlikely though, but I've almost finished making a video about it lol. Anyway, sometime in the future I am going to probably make an updated video about Macaque being a clone (since I made this video I've got a few more things to say 😅) so I might say it's a possibility dark energy weapons are one of Monkey King's powers, or maybe it's because of my (admittedly crazy theory) involving the Python Demon.
@@RVSketch and also we saw Macaque creating an energy staff like MK's to train him to use his own so if Monkey King has the same ability why isn't he doing that I mean it would probably give him a better training experience.
@@mohammadtarek3842 yeah! And it would mean he doesn't have to rely on the staff as much. Tbh I do feel like Monkey King hasn't done much training in general though - I mean, Tang was the one who showed MK how to make clones - Monkey King didn't even bring it up! 😅
Thanks! I actually already kind of did a video about this? Basically, I think they literally are the original pilgrims - I think their memories have been messed with: th-cam.com/video/y3DICseGxUM/w-d-xo.html I made that video before season 4 aired, so I might make an updated version, but the only thing is I have to make other theory videos first (because the special could come out soon and prove/disprove my theories 😅)
True, but I don't think that rules out him being a clone. I mean, MK was pretty chill with his clones initially. Plus, we only know Macaque and Sun Wukong were friends because Macaque said so - it's quite possible Sun Wukong never felt that way and just saw Macaque as another clone (maybe he just saw Macaque as a weapon he could use, not fully understanding Macaque was sentient at the time - which would explain why, when training MK, Macaque kept going on about how "you are a weapon").
@@RVSketch but in s4 they call each other sword brothers. Of cours, maybe SWK just let his clone exist like different person and even be his and his friends sword brother. Which is interesting. Perhaps that is why Macaque was most angry at SWK for leaving the brotherhood, and why he was most hesitant to go against SWK.
@@annranti Yeah you could be right! I do want to clarify that they actually don't specifically refer to each other as sworn brothers, but Sun Wukong says in the S4E2 flashback "like always! Monkey bros getting into some janky mischief!" to Macaque. This could be referring to the sworn brothers thing, but we know they knew other before the Brotherhood formed and apparently lived together on Flower Fruit Mountain. So Sun Wukong saying "like always" does imply they were sworn brothers before the Brotherhood was formed, or that they consider themselves actual brothers (which would make sense if Macaque is a clone of Sun Wukong).
Maybe. But he literally held the staff and moved it in that scene. MK's full weight and the weight of the staff was being pushed down on him and he just moved it to the side. Also, in an interview, the showrunner for the first three seasons of Monkie Kid said that Macaque "should not have been able to do that". monkiekidinterview.carrd.co/
@who asked good point! But I think there's two differences with what happened with Spider Queen. The first difference is that she didn't hold it - she just immediately pushed it away from herself horizontally. But Macaque was holding MK's staff, which was pushed down on him vertically - Macaque wasn't pushing it away - he was just standing there. He even moved it to the side. The second difference is pretty important. Spider Queen was only able to push away the staff because she was powered up. Before she pushes away the staff, she gets blasted with the magic from her giant mech thing, and in that scene it's quite clear she wouldn't have been able to push the staff away if that hadn't happened. I'm also pretty sure that the mech thing was filled with Lady Bone Demon's energy, since she gave her Iittle bone vase thing to Spider Queen to make the venom work - but I'm not 100% sure if the mech that was blasting that energy into Spider Queen was connected to the venom distributer.
tho I am a little bit corcerned on monkey species. As we see MK's clones only can change their mind and style. We dont see any skin-changed or hair-color-changed clone of his. Even if wukong has the power of creating something using his blood or hair I dont think he would be close to macaque that much when they were little if he knew macaque was his clone. Wukong would have the same abilities as his clones. Its also mentioned macaque doesnt know who named him(even tho I think its because LBD somehow messed up with his memories. Since he knew her from start. "I will erase the every memory of you from this world" seems right) And I dont thing wukong would name one of his clones too. But we see macaque having his black-hair and tan skin tone in the past. He didnt changed himself. Maybe wukong run into some dangerous mission and needed help with his clones but I doubt he would acutally make a clone to be his moon. He believed he can do anything without any help until buddha trapped him. There is really a small chance of him being really his clone. Maybe they can born from the same stone or maybe there was a stone coming from underlife like wukong's stone coming from heavens. Since Nuwa is the creation of all things I dont think they are related. They are just got made from the same person who creates the whole life. another another thing, wukong's powers doesnt seem to get into macaque. He has his own abilities. Even if he got the shadow powers he would still have wukong's powers. If a clone had wukong's power, I doubt it can escape from wukong before getting poofed knowing how dangerous it is. Macaque's eyes; He seems to have a blind eye with the evidence of wukong stabbing it with his staff. His other eye is something that caughts my attention. Its bright purple. Like the way MK uses his golden eyes to see things more clear. He doesnt seem to uses that much of power, he looks like he is trying to tame the power in front of him. I still dont really get why he makes his eyes like wukongs but I think he wants to be similiar to wukong to haunt his prays.
Well, the other part to this theory is that Macaque made a deal with a demon (like the Python Demon) a long time ago, which caused his appearance to change 👀
There's something strange about Macaque although his full name is six-eared Macaque, no scene of him having six ears, is he hiding them for some reason?
Maybe! Like I said in the video, in the book, he's never actually said to have six ears, and his name actually refers to his origins! So, he definitely could be hiding his ears in Monkie Kid (but then why does he keep introducing himself as "The Six Eared Macaque"? 🤔), or the writers decided not to give him six ears like in the book, and his name means what it meant in the book.
Well, I'm not aware of any other shows/movies other than Monkie Kid that depict the Six Eared Macaque with shadow powers (although his attribute is Dark type in the Tower of Saviors mobile game). In the original book, Journey to the West (JTTW), the Six Eared Macaque has the exact same powers as Sun Wukong (although the Buddha claims he has additional powers), but I can see why the Monkie Kid writers would want to make Macaque's powers different from Sun Wukong's so his character is more distinctive. As to why the Monkie Kid writers gave Macaque shadow powers specifically, I'd say it's probably due to how he is literally the evil/dark side of Sun Wukong's mind in Journey to the West (JTTW). He literally is the darkness of Sun Wukong's mind in the original book, so giving him shadow powers in Monkie Kid makes sense. (If you want to learn more about how the Six Eared Macaque is the dark side of Sun Wukong's mind in JTTW, I made this video on it: th-cam.com/video/c8xkjofrDUA/w-d-xo.html ) Plus, giving him shadow powers fits in with the trope of light vs dark, and making Macaque's powers dark-themed is a nice contrast to Sun Wukong's powers. As to an in-universe reason for Macaque having shadow powers, (assuming my theory that Macaque is a clone is correct) my theory is that he made a deal with a shadow demon. More specifically, I think he made a deal with the Python Demon from JTTW. I made a video explaining this theory (although it's a bit of a crazy theory 😅): th-cam.com/video/R4a-9AmV1GY8/w-d-xo.html
I have 1 thing tho, In the video you had said that “ people with wukongs power can hold the staff for example Mk” when that isn’t true, the staff isn’t even wukong’s staff, he stole it from the dragon of the East Sea, so how could only people with wukong’s a power use it if it wasn’t even his to begin with? Other then that the theory is put together well, I just don’t think he could be a clone. And I feel like it would be a really big let down if he was.
Well, it's made pretty clear in the show that only those with Monkey King's power can hold the staff. It was even discussed in an interview with someone who worked on the show. Although, yeah, I suppose it doesn't really make sense if it wasn't Sun Wukong's to begin with 😅
So, did I convince you? ;)

@@RVSketch MK's ability to use it can enhance what I said before about the possibility that he descended from Macaque.
@@mohammadtarek3842 oh true!
Omg I absolutely love this theory
Thank you! :) I'm pretty obsessed with it 😅
@@RVSketch same!!
Can you do one explaining how the gang got their powers, tang explained but can you? And I subbed.
Thanks! I actually already kind of did a video about this? Basically, I think they literally are the original pilgrims - I think their memories have been messed with:
th-cam.com/video/y3DICseGxUM/w-d-xo.html
I made that video before season 4 aired, so I might make an updated version, but the only thing is I have to make other theory videos first (because the special could come out soon and prove/disprove my theories 😅)
@@RVSketch ok
But in monkie kid macaque backstory he and sun Wukong friends in the past •,___,•
@@RVSketch okay.
I think Macaque stopping the staff and him picking up and using the staff are very different and unrelated
@@RVSketch Wait, but didn't Spider Queen block MK's attack in the exact same manner in Revenge if the Spider Queen?
Well, the other part to this theory is that Macaque made a deal with a demon (like the Python Demon) a long time ago, which caused his appearance to change 👀
he got bit by a python that would change his color palate?@@RVSketch
@@Ruu_ku more like made a deal with a Python who gave him shadow powers, which changed his colour palette 😅
If you look closer to macaques shit half id black purpal and the other side is yellow
His what? His eye?
There's something strange about Macaque although his full name is six-eared Macaque, no scene of him having six ears, is he hiding them for some reason?
Maybe! Like I said in the video, in the book, he's never actually said to have six ears, and his name actually refers to his origins!
So, he definitely could be hiding his ears in Monkie Kid (but then why does he keep introducing himself as "The Six Eared Macaque"? 🤔), or the writers decided not to give him six ears like in the book, and his name means what it meant in the book.
@@RVSketchI mean, personally it still works because his name originates from a proverb, but it's weird the six ears are still referenced on his mech.
Hey rv since you know so much I'll ask you, why is macaque always depicted with shadow powers ?
(If you want to learn more about how the Six Eared Macaque is the dark side of Sun Wukong's mind in JTTW, I made this video on it: th-cam.com/video/c8xkjofrDUA/w-d-xo.html )
Plus, giving him shadow powers fits in with the trope of light vs dark, and making Macaque's powers dark-themed is a nice contrast to Sun Wukong's powers.
As to an in-universe reason for Macaque having shadow powers, (assuming my theory that Macaque is a clone is correct) my theory is that he made a deal with a shadow demon. More specifically, I think he made a deal with the Python Demon from JTTW. I made a video explaining this theory (although it's a bit of a crazy theory 😅):
th-cam.com/video/R4a-9AmV1GY8/w-d-xo.html
I have 1 thing tho,
In the video you had said that “ people with wukongs power can hold the staff for example Mk” when that isn’t true, the staff isn’t even wukong’s staff, he stole it from the dragon of the East Sea,
so how could only people with wukong’s a power use it if it wasn’t even his to begin with?
Other then that the theory is put together well, I just don’t think he could be a clone. And I feel like it would be a really big let down if he was.
Well, it's made pretty clear in the show that only those with Monkey King's power can hold the staff. It was even discussed in an interview with someone who worked on the show. Although, yeah, I suppose it doesn't really make sense if it wasn't Sun Wukong's to begin with 😅
