"72 transformation" means a lot of change or an infinite change. Because in ancient China, 72 was the number of ”Disha(literal translation is evil spirits or earth-shaming)“. Taoism says there are seventy-two earth-shaming stars in the Big Dipper Series. This means that there are many stars, not the exact 72. Same as 36 Tiangang transformation.

This is the MOST informative and well thought out video I've seen about Black Myth: Wukong! Will definitely add it to my watchlist for the future. The information regarding and comparisons to the actual story were insightful and intriguing and I really liked the analysis of the architecture in the game and what their similarities/differences were compared to their real-life counterparts. I think the prediction is spot on! Amazing video!

I just had a dumb thought. Wukong is all kinds of immortal. What if he has lived so long that the world has looped back to the dynasty era. Who we play as is a new brash wukong, or at least, this world's equivalent. This would explain their similar powers and progression in life. This wukong is still in his fighting "anyone until he gets a challenge" phase. However some things are bound to be different. Since the original wukong is still alive and has the pillar, we would have to find a different weapon with somewhat similar properties. The theme of writing your own destiny stems from the fact that your path has already been walked, there is already one monkey king. Therefore we should step out of his shadow and be our own person (or monkey).

When you say looped back, do you mean more like a multiverse situation with different versions of timelines? I could totally see that being a thing. In that first trailer with the old narrator, he talks about all the different rumors around the Monkey King’s fate. Maybe they’re all different outcomes from different timelines. 🤔

The world has progressed so fare that it is geologically very different and that we have regressed back to the dynasty era. I can't really think of a better example, but have you heard the jokes about "made in heaven"? I don't watch jojos, but I know how it works. Basically, It continuously fast forwards time. It manages to fast forward so far that the world and the universe itself have reset and sped back to the point in time it started from. I'm saying that what if countless millennia have passed and the world has reset to the point where another stone monkey has been brought into the world? This monkey would have had a journey to become monkey king and embark on the journey to the west. However, what changes things this time is that the old son wukong is still here and may guide us on a better path or even kill us before we can commit the countless atrocities he did.

I have a theory , remember when the old monk says the real Wukong is dead during the journey? What if during the battle with the six eared macaque Wukong lost or he made a deal with the macaque saying he don't want to be Buddha so he allow the macaque to continue the journey with others without him but The Buddha and is companions thought the macaque is Wukong since they look the same. Because in the novel after Wukong battled with the macaque he seems different in manners and attitude . What if game science take this part of the story and make a twist here being the black myth. So after macaque become a Buddha his teaching for the human realm turn twisted from the real Buddha teaching so Wukong is stated to be the heavens chosen one like stated in the first trailer by the wolf mini boss. About the magical stick when clash with the monkey king , just notice it didn't glow when it was held by the good looking monkey but glow when clash with the protagonist in the cutscenes so what if we are playing as the real Wukong but because of him not wanting to be a Buddha so all this stories happens which is the blackmyth so now we are fighting all this demons and deities to make things right

I heard one theory that your playing Sun Wukong and that he was killed by six eared macaque during journey to the west. Even though I think it’s interesting theory, I believe it’s unlikely. I read all the books and it’s one of my favorite literatures. I wonder how the story of the game will end.
@@dubialexander9802I think what he means was different version of the story by different author. This is a story first published in 16th century after all, where there's no copyright law. Different people was telling this story with some addition or change with varying details on certain plot.
I want the game to be at least 45 hours long and to have all the 75 tranformations and I am excited which other spell we will be able to learn, other than immobilize and stoneskin
my plot guess: you play the sun wukong before all the events of the story started and then going trough the story, there are timeline switches to the enlightened sun wukong (cloud ride following the white dragon, the fight in heavens) but generally you play his younger self, on the beginning of the journey

Sure you’d had noticed that it’s not a coincidence that the chicken demon in this game is exactly the opposite of the good chicken god in the original journey to the west. It seems demons are demons (or maybe not completely evil?) but gods become demons in this game.

That would definitely be a great concept and would be cool to work in at the end of the game! Since we see that monsters Wukong had originally killed are alive in the game, the full thing probably isn’t an epilogue to the novel, but rather the same story from a different character’s / villains’ perspective. I could be totally wrong too, but either way, I do rather enjoy dark retellings ☺️

I ended up reading half of the Journey to the west books and my girlfriend is Chinese. She mentions how there’s a lot of theories that point out to plot whole of the original story, and a particular one mentions that when the fake Wukong shows up, the real Wukong is the one that dies at the end. Now… Wukong is immortal and impossible to kill… so what if we actually do play as Wukong, but one ripped of his name and replaced by some fake

The original Journey to the West is actually a Confucian Moral tale. Wu Kong, while he is extremely charismatic, is a force for chaos. The point of the story is to show that simply being likable is not enough to be good. To be truly good one has to be orderly and purge chaos from oneself. It is a moral tale of how Wu Kong purged chaos from himself and fell in line with the perceived order. For Wu Kong Black Myth to really shine it has to present a counter argument to the original story. To show that order is not always right. That Chaos can be right and order can be wrong.
