I would say for support for the throne, make it available only when somebody invades your home system. That way it's like you can offer it to become a "vassal" of the conqueror. Now the attacker will logically stop destroying you. This would open more agressive play and make players think twice about going all out on Mecatol.
My agenda deck thought, and I haven’t been able to try it because I haven’t been able to play enough to get used to the regular rules. 1. Everytime you draw an action card, you also draw an agenda card. 2. In the agenda phase, whoever votes first gets to present a new agenda from their hand to be voted on (Argent Flight gets to do this first). 3. The player has the option of passing. 4. If it gets to Speaker, Speaker has to submit an agenda. 5. Still vote on two agendas, but Speaker gets one veto per vote (xxcha also gets their shenanigans) 6. Voting proceeds as normal. 7. Agenda cards can be traded. Thoughts?
I'd like to try a game where you are only allowed to give SFTT once both the giver and receiver are at 7+ points. It would prevent game slogging trades and it would make thematic sense, kind of a "me or you" win more situation that at that point you don't necessarily need to make. You would also be less incentivised to take someone's home system for the card early basically killing that players game for the next eight hours. The immediate swap meta is stupid, obviously even more limited by the fact that you don't want to be left out once someone initiates the first one so you'll basically have to strike a deal with someone at that point, but if a swap happens in a natural way that benefits both players majorly (on top of the VP) then I think it's fair and good game. Like in our last game, the neighbouring xxcha started to slowly drift in my direction with warsuns so I offered a swap to direct them elsewhere securing me a slight chance of winning. The xxcha only took the deal because the possible 2-pointer objectives were heavily in their favor and it made it easier to keep mentak in check. Making it illegal to simply swap SFTTs in one transaction would make it harder to do the swap because it would be extremely risky to give yours out first in a non-binding deal despite you making it sound easy to circumvent the rule.
I'm a new player and I found the promissory notes cumbersome. You get so many of them that don't come i to play often. The effects varry from useless to really good. I gave my support for the throne to another guy for some other card, then I attacked him later. ...he could attack me back but then he loses it. I can see how swapping support for the throne with someone across the table could be a problem.
(Writing this while listening.) These are the things I would change: 1) Put the emphasis on secret objectives rather than public objectives. There should be three public objectives, with the bulk of the victory points coming from secret objectives. 2) Blue tech is way too powerful. We need to either place some of that tech in different colours, or make the other tech paths more powerful. 3) The action card deck is way too bloated. 4) A lot of the tech should work by being exhausted: Neural Motivator, Hyper Metabolism come immediately to mind. 5) The Agenda Phase is so often so inconsequential. It needs to feel like a game-changer every phase. 6) There should be events that happen every round: some sort of NPC issues of rebellion, or pirates, or disasters, etc. These could also help contribute to victory points (maybe as part of public objectives).
I don't even know why Sling Relay is in the blue tech path. It's about producing units so why isn't it in yellow or red? Same with Dark Energy Tap. Those two could have been used to boost other colours that were already underused.
I feel like SFTT would be better if you could only give it to the one player who is in last place and if there is a tie nobody can get it. It has to be one player only. I think it would fix many things at once. 1) You cloud not trade it one for one. 2) It would be hard to even get them all out in one gane. 3) If a player wanted to give it out, they would have to make a compelling deal that's somehow beneficial to both of them. 4) No possibility of kingmaking in the last round. 5) All in all it would be more of a catch up mechanic than just cutting the whole game down by one point.
Agree on all points. We recently played with 4 players and a bot as well. We decided that the bot would always choose the strategy card with the most trade goods on it and roll if there were more than one. I'd always prefer this bandaid over the official rule. If I'm not mistaken, the main designer said something like there would be one last thing to be released if dev support for TI4 comes to an end. I'm crossing my fingers for an official release of all codex contents and some general overhaul of the agendas and game balance. Would definitely buy this.
That would both be very sad that it was ending, but exciting we would get some content again. I would absolutely kill for another expansion, even though I really don’t want any more factions to be honest.
@@CardboardCrashCourseSame. Just tweaking what's there and some minor additions to make it the best version TI4 could be. I would pay good money for that.
Hello and thank you for the video. Helpful as always 😊 Next week i will play my 2nd game of ti4 pok. So i am pretty new and don't know much. Could you or somebody here in the comments help with some tips and tricks creating the board? We will put it together the day we play. We didn't the first time but i think there are some things i need to consider strategically. I will play the winnu (first time). Hope some one can share some ideas and maybe it is an idea for a hole video😅 Thx again for all the videos i watched so far.
Another thing that makes Agendas suck are the Rider action cards. First off, they suck on their own. Nobody wants to draw an AC and get a Rider. Everyone's reaction is always a big fat sigh. Second, they only further encourage people not giving a damn about voting on agendas.
in a four player game we pick two, but you have the higher initiative.
so if you pick pick 1 and 8 you are last.
Agreed seems a logical way to improve the issue.
I'm gonna try this

Please do more of these! As a new player, it’s really helping me understand more of the meta strategy.

Are you looking at getting the Discodant Stars Factions? 35 new races must be exciting to someone who has played TI4 a lot.

4 players has no space community, any pair of players can overtake the Galaxy without diplomacy as a break.

Thanks for your thoughts. Agenda Deck - try "Absol's Agenda Deck". A real improvement.
Will do!
The endless win-slay carousal of pok sucks. Blue technology being the only effective path sucks. Sabotage cards suck.
I like Sabotage cards, but agree on the other two.
