    Andy, I am guilty of running out and purchasing the kits you profile with each of your videos. You are a great marketing person for Tamiya, Dragon, etc. Well done! Great work, tips, and comments.

    Reminds me of the little diorama that I made as a teenager 40-odd years ago of a 1/72 Pz III. I didn't have any figures, and the diorama itself was made out of a box. IIRC, I glued some small twigs/sticks to the tank to give it some individuality :-)

    Fantastic. Colours look spot on to me. The real tanks were delivered in a pinkish tan (RAL 8020) with RAL 7008 grey green disruptive, and you've captured it well.

    Amazing video. I have just finished the Tamiya Panzer III Ausf L and for the weathering I dry brushed with dark gray because from the research I have done, the vehicles arrived in Africa in a panzer gray color and then quickly painted a dark yellow. I think mine turned out pretty good as did yours. Thanks for sharing these videos!!

    Hey Andy, I have an Afrika Korp collection of Original captured POW uniforms and equipment including an Afrika Korps Helmet with 98% original Afrika corp mustard/yellow paint. That paint mix that Tamiya recommends isn't even close. It's way too orange/pink. For future reference, use Humbrol, HM 2 Afrika Korps Desert Yellow or Testors Afrika Mustard FS 30266, Model Masters 195506. These manufacturers produce these paints in oil base paints. If you prefer acrylics, Use these colors as a color chip for reference to blend to match. These colors are a dark yellow but not as dark as their standard Dunkel Gelb. This mustard yellow is a perfect base color to build on. I hope that you can use this information. Love you work.

      I wrote the real armored Core tank Museum in Boynton UK and the reply I got that most African or Vehicles were tanner gray with some mainly some desert sand and Italian mix so per my information you can basically color it the way you want to

    • @Jackdaw5
      @Jackdaw5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very late reply, but The Germans introduced a new shade of paint in 1942 for southern Russia and North Africa which was darker and more pink than the original yellows seen on DAK vehicles in 1941. Many tanks sent over to Tunisia (like the Pz III N depicted here, which only served in Tunisia) were factory painted in it. The Tamiya mix is trying to recreate this shade, I believe.

    • @alessiodecarolis
      @alessiodecarolis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The originale DAK uniforms were a light olive green colour wich quickly faded under the sun, giving them a light sand shade, naturally everyone can choose every shade of sand/tan he likes

    Late to the party, but enjoyed watching the build! I have always liked the PzKmpfw III series, and the North African theme is always great.
    BTW, I enjoyed the music. I always find classical music from that period wonderful music...it's especially calming when doing the tricky stages of a build. Your selection was quite appropriate (Eine Kleine Nazimusik? lol), because Rommel's tanks often 'baroque down' at the worst possible times. ;)

    it realy fits ideed on the diorama with the mixed color with redbrow and flesh, but not my color i would use, i just primer painted my panzer 4 g early,going with the dark yellow, and dessert yellow, good job with the dry brush, but no rust effect ? a little?

  • @AFV85

    This camo colour the flesh and the buff worked fantastic for that new I love kit Oshkosh JLTV! As the JLTV has more the rotbraun mixed through the oil new iraqi tones to what the M-ATV is got more or a desert pink matt coat no one seems to have as a colour as yet that u have found so will be using same on the RFM one when get that one!

Personally like your choice of music by the way... :)
