They have raised their prices but they have slightly reduced for a couple of designs only
A few of the new ones did go on sale but not many
One of the main reasons this is happening is because SL is being pulled from other retailers (i.e. dept stores and online like Farfetch). SL is positioning to become more exclusive and want more control over their products and pricing; this means retailers have to get rid of their remaining SL stock before it's extremely out of season. It's smart to grab the right styles now, as I think the prices of some will go back up after SL has regained full control. Also agree with the comments about SL never having quality issues - my experience as well.
I asked the Nordstrom SA if ysl is pulling out as well. She said not that she knows of. But it's very possible and she doesn't know. Yea I think YSL has been solid when it comes to quality control which is why I'm still a fan!
I was at the luxury mall near me about 3 weeks ago. It was busier than I’d ever seen it and interestingly, Saint Laurent was the only store with a line/queue outside of it. Not Gucci, Prada, LV, Celine, or even Chanel (which sadly suffered a smash and grab group theft only a few days later).
That is quite interesting! It was definitely crickets at my local one.

The sale prices you mentioned should have been it’s retail price and not crazy price that we are looking at currently. They got too excited with the pricing, I mean many of their fans moved to Celine as well
I actually haven't bought a new Celine. All my celines are from the Phoebe philo days. The triomphe logo is kind of equivalent to the YSL logo. So maybe people will feel like that the triomphe logo is over done like they do the YSL?

I still love YSL and I have my eye on some new styles. But will wait to see if I can get deals. Agree that negative brand image like Balenciaga and Dior is worse for the bottom line.

Do you find it too wide/big and bulky? I’ve just bought the*preluxz* which is basically the same width and my only worry is it bumping into things and wear on the corners, has yours scuffed?

I love YSL and recently bought a new bag from one of their outlets near me. Tbh, i haven’t come across any of the price decreases as yet. All the bags i’m eyeing from the big department stores online seem to be the same. I’m following your guy now and hope to find some deals in the future!

I heard last year that the designer brands were going to be pulling out of the dept. stores. The market is slim pickens in some repressed areas maybe like Nashville. I live in S. CA . We have many designer malls. They are packed with people. I have seen no mark downs like you describe expect Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch etc. No major Luxury brands, except the Nordstroms I go to dosen't seem to be restocking. Bloomingdales in San Diego only has contemporary bags for sale in the store. Luxury is online only. The market is changing I mostly buy preloved anyway. I love YSL if I need one I go to the outlet.
Yea I know Loewe pulled out of nordstroms last year. I was shocked to see how many YSL bags were out on the sale table. Just sitting there. Never seen that before. For sure, the southern cali spending power is much higher than Nashville.

I feel like the Ysl bags that are on sale are past trending bags. Ysl has new bags rolling out if you visit the boutique. Also for years LV prices have always fluctuated but have gone unnoticed.

I think most high end luxury companies have over-priced themselves and should be price correcting like St. Laurent. IMO

The economy is horrible right now. People don’t have the extra cash and department stores want to move their merchandise. I also believe when a brand has outlets that also plays a role in lowering the brand. Thanks for sharing!
I think YSL does the outlet much better than other brands. They don't make products specifically for the outlet. They only carry past season items at their outlets.
I'm going to Nordstrom tomorrow and will check whether they have YSL bags on sale. But, probably too late for the good stuff.😒

I really don't mind about it. Actually, I find their prices beneficial. It's YSL's strategy to attract customers who got annoyed from Chanel's/LV's ridiculous price increase. Lol

I love YSL! But I am not buying any more unless it fits a gap in my collection. I was pretty tempted by a neon safety yellow nano sac de jour that I saw recently but am holding out for the day I see a neon yellow YSL card case / clutch or a neon yellow Mulberry mini alexa in their delicious heavy grain leather. You see a YSL manhattan black or brown east west clutch with a great deal though, please let me know! Or a black or brown small manhattan shoulder bag! Or a baby niki in light caramel! Lol! I guess I found more gaps in my collection! Side note: A hot pink YSL bag while not the best "investment" decision would be amazing! I feel like YSL does great neutrals and great hot pinks!
I love how you just talked yourself into needing more bags lol. Yes that's partly why I love YSL they have a wide range of neutral colors. The Niki is my all time favorite for sure. I'm on the hunt for a hot pink SLG as well. A zip one like my cafune one specifically. Not sure if they made/make those.
@@Somehowadulting I'll keep an eye out for you but yeah, haven't seen any card holder in that shape and colorway. I think Jacquemus has a square one but not hot hot pink. If Loewe could hurry up and do one in Paula Ibiza hot pink with a some super cute details that would be awesome albeit out of budget.

I love YSL, I would love it even more if they keep reducing their prices to realign with their consumer base. I don't buy bags to resell them, but to enjoy them and prices have gone crazy in the past 3-4 years. YSL also used to be included in discount coupons for websites like farfetch, but they stopped. They are realizing they need cash and they have a lot of inventory. I love YSL aesthetic, so I would buy from them regardless, unless they do a scandal campaign like creepy p**o Balenciaga, then it would be immediately blacklisted. As an ex merchandiser and luxury brands merchandiser, there are no rules on how much you can sell an item for, however when we buy from the luxury brand, you pay wholesale and then the brand would suggest the RRP to sell it for. We have always followed what the brand suggests to sell the item for. However as a department store, if we are sitting on a lot of stock and is a high value amount, we will try to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Maybe before going into sale for everyone to purchase, we would do private sales for top customers, and then extend it to all shoppers online. I think what happened in that store just shows how desperate they are and how people are not able to afford or prefer to spend the money on other stuff like travelling.
Thanks for sharing your ex-merchandiser experience. I've always wondered about that. It's interesting that both Saks and Nordstroms both put them on discounts at the same time tho? And most of them similar models that go on sale. Do they talk to each other? Especially Nordstroms they have their anniversary sale going up in the next few weeks. Why wouldn't they include it as part of their anniversary sales and it's mark all of them down 30%. Logically that seems like they would make more profit than way? It's interesting why companies like YSL won't go into an agreement about pricing floors. I know companies like temperpudic does. The reason I know is I tried to haggle with the Salesperson 😂 they're nope, standard price required by tempurpedic.
@@Somehowadulting they won't say this publicly, but the people sitting at the top of the big department stores talk to each other, also because it is a small world and people find themselves working for one and another during their career. Sometimes we would have our Head of coming to us and advising to put a 10-20% off everything, if the business need cash and things aren't moving fast. Sometimes she would know before it goes live that the competitor is going to have a sale and we need to do the same or we will miss out. Sometimes when we decided to go on sale with sought after items, and the brand was against it when it was live, what they could do is to give exclusive collections or pieces to our competitors in the new season, or when we ran out of stock, they would prioritise replenishment to our competitors and whatever is left they would send it to us, etc.
Some of these brands have just tooooo many good looking dupes. Of course it will affect prices. It’s a challenge to buy a model that isnt copied right and left.

I still love YSL and one of their wristlets was actually my wedding bag! I think maybe they have priced high and priced out the middle classes hence the price decrease online? But also these are concessions within Nordstrom/Saks that had these crazy markdowns so I do wonder if they had pre bought the bags and are struggling to shift stock hence the markdowns 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ just my thoughts
Someone in the comments said they buy wholesale outright and don't have pricing floors. Which is interesting! Yea they're probably just moving inventory. I do love YSL but I did slim down my collection quite a bit because it got repetitive. Thanks for your input!

But these brands have outlets where many bags end up discounted deeply any way. And at the end of the day they are still expensive
