I can just hear this tree heave a sigh of relief when you cut all that rope and released the root ball from the burlap. Oh my Russel loves you and Aaron as he seems to always be close by while filming ❤️
Ahhh...the satisfying snip snip of new Felcos : ) I live in zone 8a and I didn't think I could plant a blue spruce. Yay!! Hoop's Blue is now on my wish list. Thanks for another great video!
Please please do videos when you fertilize everything in your yard. I get confused on what I'm supposed to use on what. I made a tiny boxwood hedge last year (laura you would be proud) but I want to feed it correctly!!
I really like when they end their videos with still shots and then finish it off with the Garden Answer bumper tile. It just looks so professional as opposed to the abrupt still shot--cut-to-black thing.
What a beautiful tree!!! So jealous you're digging in the ground! I'm sitting here in my flannel pajamas looking at snow outside on the ground having my coffee before work (3rd shifter). Great info on that tree; love it when you concentrate on specific plants! Thank you!
Every time you upload a video I watch it for enjoyment, then re-watch for knowledge, going through adds too. Gotta support my garden queen! 💖 Also, the back formal garden looks ideal for a greenhouse, have you ever considered that? Somehow that idea popped while watching this video...
When you are planting a new tree where an existing one use to be, is it important to get out as much of the old root system as possible? Can it harm the new tree in any way?
Shirley I asked my botanist friend the same question last year during a planting project. She told me to remove as much as you can for two reasons, the first being so your new trees roots don’t have to fight around old roots, and also because of the old roots rotting, it could settle the ground weirdly depending on how extensive the root system is. She said it doesn’t have to be 100% of the roots, but get as much as you can
Lovely tree!! Buying some evergreen fertilizer this week! Laughing about Russell - he was so determined to lie near by you and just pretend to be casual about all of your hard work! LOL!
Love the tree. The colour is just gorgeous. I'm loving my winter interest evergreens that my nephew helped to plant last year. It was an investment but the garden looks so much better and less like an ugly mess. They give structure for the eyes to focus on.
Hi Laura and Aaron! What a beautiful tree! Blue Spruce is my favorite and I really love the color of the Hoop's variety. It looks beautiful there! Thank you for sharing!
I dug new flower beds early last fall. Just cleaned up the beds yesterday and the dirt is so soft and easy to move and work! Can’t wait to fill it up, slowly but surely!
HI Laura, Would you be willing to do a video on lilacs -- types and growing them? I love lilacs and thinking of planting them along the back of my yard -- total sun. Proven Winners has quite a few types -- I was just looking on their site. Thanks for considering
Yes please! Include pruning and feeding tips! I have a number of lilacs (one Bloomerang) and I want more but some years they bloom and others not so much. I would love a video to address that!
Lovey video for coffee with Laura, Aaron, and of course Russell! What a beautiful tree and it will be fun to see it grow over the years. I agree about lighting it up at Christmas time and it will add some nice interest to your arrangements in the winter!!
It's interesting how bad I am at judging distances because to my (bad) eyes, that does not look like it's seven feet from the fence, but hey!--one more item to decorate with xmas lights so yay! Laura, you also have tulip bulbs at the edge of that bed, right? So be careful when you're planting up the bed when you extend it.
I had to chuckle when I saw you using the DeWalt saw to cut out old roots - for the last three weekends my husband and I have been taking out old shrubs and old tree roots and we have been using that same saw to cut the shrubs down and to cut out the roots as we dig. In fact, in just a few minutes we’re heading outside to cut out the last of the shrub roots. It’s a tedious and laborious job, but our DeWalt saw has been a great help. Plant on my fellow gardeners 🌿🌺🌸🌳🏡😊
Hi Laura, I just put in 4 flower beds at my office and used the Bio-tone starter on everything from shrubs, perennials to annuals. In a month I already have growth and everything is doing very well! Thank you for the great Bio-tone tip! Because of you I have been using all Espoma product for a while now, but this is the first time I've used the starter. Very happy !
I love that tree and that it will do well in my zone 7! It's been added to my "must have" list of plants... just hope I can find one! Russell waiting to put in his appearance till the end, typical cat star behavior! 😁💕👍
i love blue spruce trees... that would be a big plus for me if we ever had to move to a colder climate.. i can't even describe how much i love this tree... it is perfect for that corner and what a statement all year long.. time for Aaron to get some more Christmas lights!!! oh joy oh joy!! it's gorgeous!!!!
Russell is a such a star, i am literally looking for him in every video lately and he never disappoints lol! Love the tree color, it is going to look so beautiful fully grown in that spot and also nice addition for more Christmas lights!
I like the white fence. I think a tapered stacked rock wall would be beautiful along that part of the drive. It would be a nice Victorian style addition to your home.
Hi Laura, I've been following you for a few years and watch every video from start to finish. You've even inspired me to start my own channel, even though I have no formal training ... just tons of enthusiasm! Will you be doing a video on pruning hydrangeas? I planted a limelight last summer (I'm in the south of England) and thinking I will need to prune very soon?
Russell just loves to supervise!! ❤️ Did you leave some of the burlap on the bottom?? Is that ok for the tree?? Thank you for all your videos! We all truly appreciate what you and Aaron have created!
Love the tree! Last year when you were fertilizing you used Rose Tone on your hydrangeas instead of Holly Tone. Did this work better or will you be going back to Holly Tone?
Such a beautiful tree. I love seeing Russell follow you around everywhere in your videos. Where has Cheddar been? I feel like I haven't seen him around latley. I love your videos. Thank you so much. 😻😻
Russell approves of your chosen tree and planting job. As soon as I heard evergreen, I thought, oh, something else for Aaron to light up at Christmas. It's a gorgeous color and a great anchor evergreen for that spot. Well done! ~ Lisa
Happy International Women's Day! Thank you for jumping on your shovel trying to get it to sink down. Lol. It proves that I'm not the only one doing that. 🤣🤣
It looks like you have replaced your worn out favorite shoes with a new pair! I love the animal print and they look very comfortable. Love your channel and hope to use some of your knowledge and tips over here in Western Oregon.
It’s so exciting to see you planting something in the ground again! Wouldn’t it be easier to cut the rope and remove the burlap before putting the tree in the hole?
I've been noticing recently in plant catalogs and on plant tags that a lot of perennials/trees/shrubs have life spans. What does this mean? Will it die after a certain amount of years, or does that just mean it won't look its prime anymore? What can I do to extend it?
@@nathanlittle2707 Yeah I actually have a science degree so I do know that all living things have lifespans. I was just wondering if they are a firm thing. A rose bush tag says its lifespan is 30 years and yet my grandma had the same rose bush thriving for way longer.
@@cutazabutton That's also true of stars. The bigger the star, the shorter its life. It burns through the gases at a faster rate because of its mass. The gravity pushing around the star is stronger in larger stars. In short, the bigger you are, the faster you die. :)
I'm a stickler for perfect lines, so I have to leave my two cents about those pavers. I don't think you realize but the pavers are not supposed to be laid out like that. They are basically a tongue and groove set up so you have one forward facing and the next one going in the opposite direction. This way they lay flush up right against each other and keep the gravel from getting into your flower beds.
Blue Spruce is one of my favourites. I’ve added this to my one day list. I recently saw a Blue Pyramidal Limber Pine Tree and thought it’s structure resembled the Blue Spruce. It too is on the list. OMG I just love Russell. Hope Cheddar is okay? This must be a sign spring is coming too now we have Planting Videos. I so enjoy the planting videos.
I have been buying blue spruce trees for my indoor Christmas Tree! Love the color and the strength of the branches...you should do a Cat Themed tree for 2020!
Hi Laura, love your videos! Can you provide some details on the tools you used to cut up the dogwood roots? I have so many old roots in the ground that I’m constantly tackling in my flower beds. Thanks!
Have Benjamin stand next to it and take his picture and watch them both grow! A memory for 2020!
What a lovely idea!
Great idea!
We did this with a Magnolia tree and my daughter 🥰
Awesome Idea
We did it with a tulip tree and posted the pix at our daughter's high school open house!
That's one decorative Russel right there.
I can just hear this tree heave a sigh of relief when you cut all that rope and released the root ball from the burlap. Oh my Russel loves you and Aaron as he seems to always be close by while filming ❤️
Russel pops with blue green plants. Such a great background for our ginger star :)
That is a beautiful blue spruce tree and Russell just adds the finishing touch. I just love all your videos.
I just love how Russel follows you around!
I love it! Find Russell is the best game ever.
Russell is like the feline version of Man’s Best Friend. I love how he’s always hanging out with you.
Beautiful tree 🌲. I love that Russell is always in your videos or pictures. He is such a wonderful kitty 🐱. 😘❤️😘❤️
Golly I just love a Blue Spruce. Probably the most beautiful evergreen there is.
Ahhh...the satisfying snip snip of new Felcos : ) I live in zone 8a and I didn't think I could plant a blue spruce. Yay!! Hoop's Blue is now on my wish list. Thanks for another great video!
Beautiful tree. Going to be awesome in that spot! Love how Russell poses for the pictures!
Please please do videos when you fertilize everything in your yard. I get confused on what I'm supposed to use on what. I made a tiny boxwood hedge last year (laura you would be proud) but I want to feed it correctly!!
She's done a couple.
Yes, and it would depend on your zone
Thanks for the bonus shots of Russell at the end! 😻🐈😻
I really like when they end their videos with still shots and then finish it off with the Garden Answer bumper tile. It just looks so professional as opposed to the abrupt still shot--cut-to-black thing.
Now you have done it! My wife saw this tree and she wants it. So I am investigating where to get it. It is a beauty! 🌲
What a beautiful tree!!! So jealous you're digging in the ground! I'm sitting here in my flannel pajamas looking at snow outside on the ground having my coffee before work (3rd shifter). Great info on that tree; love it when you concentrate on specific plants! Thank you!
Sometimes I swear you can read my mind. I’ve been looking for a blue toned evergreen. This sounds perfect. Thanks. I love your videos.
Every time you upload a video I watch it for enjoyment, then re-watch for knowledge, going through adds too.

@@lexititus2323 Thank-you so much for the info 🙂
Tree looks awesome (and new shoes look great)! Love a blue spruce.
The grey in the spruce really pops with the color of the pots along the fence line!
Oh how much I’ve missed these type of videos! 😍❤️ with my pregnancy I’ve definitely been craving garden moments! Thank you Laura!
Russell, at least I think it is, makes these videos, I love seeing him get in on the action. 🧡🧡🧡
Russell needs his own channel with a Russell-cam perspective.
One of my favorites! I planted mine where it could be seen from the kitchen windows gorgeous w lights and snow ❄️
Your energy is contagious! I enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work! Russel steals the show as usual!

I love blue spruces so pretty and that handsome Russell
Hi Laura and Aaron! What a beautiful tree! Blue Spruce is my favorite and I really love the color of the Hoop's variety. It looks beautiful there! Thank you for sharing!
I’m not sure Russell is planted far enough away from the tree. You may not have proper cat spacing! Lol
Love the blue color! That little tree looks adorable now and I'm sure will be amazing later!
I dug new flower beds early last fall. Just cleaned up the beds yesterday and the dirt is so soft and easy to move and work! Can’t wait to fill it up, slowly but surely!
Good ol' Russell ♥
Beautiful tree Laura. But I especially love how Russell is always keeping watch over you, and supervising, LOL!
Blue spruce trees are so beautiful 🌲😊 good spot

She's done a couple. Search for "bloomerang." It's a cultivar from PW.
(Edited to fix a typo.)
Yes please! Include pruning and feeding tips! I have a number of lilacs (one Bloomerang) and I want more but some years they bloom and others not so much. I would love a video to address that!
That's a gorgeous blue spruce!!! Love it, I can grow it in my zone 3 and I love that it stays on the smaller scale.
I absolutely love blue spruce. The color on this one is gorgeous!
Love Blue Spruces!🙂🌲💙
But what I want to know is when & where are you going to plant those new fruit trees?🌳🍎🍏🍑🍒
I was going to ask the same thing lol

“Two cups of fertilizer.” Pours in a gallon. Just kidding it just looks that way! love what you do Laura!!!
Lol I thought the same thing. She is so funny!
She never measures. Get used to it. :)
Jake Jones no she never has lol
Reminds me of this video where the lady is like: “Two shots of vodka” and proceeds to pour half the bottle. 🤣

Ahh, the sound of those new Felcos! I regularly misplace/or accidentally throw mine away too! Love the new spruce with its smaller full grown size.

Perfect anchor for that area. Love the color & shape too. I don't think you could have done better - well done!
Oh the beauty of that Blue Spruce!!

Looking at this tree, i can just think of Christmas lights, pot arrangements and wreaths 😍 ooooh thinking of Christmas in March.
branches from this would look extra good with the dried orange slices and magnolia that Lauren also uses!
I am looking forward to seeing how you move established perennials. My transplants usually struggle and I know you will have great tips!
Have you ever considered planting Chinese witch hazel it’s an evergreen here in England and it flowers around winter time
That is a beautiful tree! I need one now too.
It looks like you have replaced your worn out favorite shoes with a new pair! I love the animal print and they look very comfortable. Love your channel and hope to use some of your knowledge and tips over here in Western Oregon.

It looks perfect there!
Yes! Spruce. 🌲
Inspiration!! Thank you Laura... I just ordered a Hoops Blue Spruce after watching this video!
Such a beautiful tree!
What a pretty tree.
We planning a Colorado Spruce since 2019. And it's doing good in 2020. It's called a true, Colorado spruce. It's a true blue spruce.

It looks great in that corner. Cant wait to watch it grow. 💗🌻💗🌻
Hey Laura...You can say "These ones" as much as you want..I've heard Charles Dowding say it all the time
So go for it and feel no shame
