20:45 Now it makes sense why, when I was a kid, if you had to imagine 'a tarantula' then the colouring and patterning of the smithi is exactly what we would have pictured.
Hello Dave and Camera Lady 😊. Thank you for the exciting video! ❤❤I was sure she had that boy when he fell back in, but I should have known better. Dave and his trusty paint brush 🖌️🎨to the rescue! (Insert victorious music here). 🎶I don’t think your boy there would agree that she is at all docile 😂. In all seriousness, I wonder, have you ever noticed if there is a difference in successful egg sacs between the females that eat their males and the ones that don’t? I would imagine that the munch rate is higher in the wild. Just a thought. I would give an awful lot to be in England 🇬🇧 this weekend to see the show and meet you and your lovely wife. Perhaps someday. I am off to the arms of Morpheus. Take care, be safe and have a fabulous show. Good night my friends. 🌜♥️💛🖤
Hello Dave and Camera lady. You know. I asked myself a while ago what on earth would happen if you moved home with all your collection. I had a vision of a removal man in the back of the van sitting on your sofa with a flame thrower in case they had to make an emergency stop.😆😆
Very good and educational video. The big spiders, good camera work, and professional narrative let you really appreciate what's going on. Your reminder about what taking from the wild does to the species as a whole was timely and pertinent. We're supposed to be stewards, not exploiters.
Ahh my first pet spider when I was 14. I think I paid $20 back then. Her name was Harriet and she was the most gentle thing ever. Brings back great memories.
Dave, if you could film the show, it would be immensely entertaining for all of us, international fans Plus, it would be great content for your channel.
That extraction of the male was precarious and funny. As soon as he had an out, he was outta there 🤣 I would have been mortified trying to keep him safe lol
Very nice video. I currently have a female Brachypelma Hamorii that I raised from a sling. She was about the same size as the fruit flies I was feeding her (basically an egg with legs), she is now five years old so not quite ready to be bred yet. Hopefully when she is old enough I can find a male for her. It was nice to see a pure Smithi for some comparison.
Very exciting pairings, Stunning spiders and she was quite healthy a big girl And the male was very slender long legged, Just love the coloring, Would like to see more of that species.📷🕷🕷📷👍💖
Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💙💕🕷️ Hope you’re both doing well today. I’m over the moon to see you doing a Brachypelma Smithi pairing video Dave. 😊 I love the Brachy’s as I’m the proud spider mummy of an Hamorii 🕷️ You have two gorgeous examples starring in today’s video. I just love the colours of this genus. You just proved that men CAN multitask 😂 By saving your male, whilst filming 😂 I totally agree about hobbyists that can breed their spiders should. Then the offspring can be distributed back into the hobby. It’s common sense, it takes the pressure off the wild species, they can repopulate and be saved from extinction. Thanks Dave and Camera Lady for another great video. Take care, and have a great BTS this weekend 💙💕🕷️😘xxx
I love how enthusiastic you are about trying to conserve wild spiders. It’s exactly the same way I feel about fish and my fish keeping hobby. As a nature and animal lover, it breaks my heart how some people only want wild caught animals. Thank you for another great video and say hi to Mrs. Camera Lady 😊 I hope you enjoy your weekend at the BTS
Oooooohhhh ! When I saw the thumbnail, my eyes lit up ! Love me some Brachys ! I'm relieved to see the male was out of harm's way in the end. He really didn't mess around. I also appreciate seeing those two as it demonstrates the carapace variation from one animal to another. Definitely looking forward to future results on this pairing and seeing which other Brachys will soon be getting a rehouse. They may not be the most exciting spiders to work with, but I feel they compensate with their beauty, hardiness and long lifespan in the females. Can't go wrong with those, IMO. Same goes for Grammostola, Aphonopelma and Tliltocatl. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Brachypelma Hamorii & Smithi are my favourite species, they may be seen as basic or beginner to a lot of big tarantula collectors but they are pleasing to the eye and look amazing in comparison with bright green moss 😍
this was a great video! My smithi has actually dug the most beautiful tunnel down into her substrate, with a double entrance, and she stays down in her tunnel about 50% of the time and the other 50% she loves to be out walking about, doesnt make a difference if it's night or day. I dont think many people realize how smithis like to dig if they can, they are really good at it!
Absolute masterclass on how to handle your Brachypelma pairings, it's fascinating to see the behaviors between different species pairing while listening to Dave's expert commentary. 👍
Your effort to fulfill the needs of your subscribers is an honorable thing. I chuckle at what seems to bee a very concerted effort to display or work up any true interest in this particular species. I applaud you, Sir.
That was brilliant well done little smithi for getting your job done n well done Dave for saving the little smithi 😂 🤞🤞🤞 yous get lots of little smithi baby's, I love Brachypelma can't beat that black n orange imo 🖤🧡🖤 great upload as always Dave, Camera Lady ❤
Those are very pretty spiders 🕷 such nice creatures and easy to care for! Pairing and breeding may be a diffrent thing! Have a wonderful day dear Dave and Sweet Camera Lady, greetings to you both and to all the viewers here!👋❤👍🇸🇪 Susanne.
Wooh. That was a thriller. If you weren't ready to safe him He would've stayed for dinner. Job well done👍 When He was so flat on the ground He maybe used the surface of the soil to enhance his vibrations. I saw a docu ones how male spiders do that and the effect is stunning. Anyway, they're still one of the most beautiful spiders around😍
That was an amazing pairing to watch! Seeing how she changed her body posture and legs plus having your commentary made it even better. Your videos really are awesome learning tools! My absolute favorite Brachypelma is the Klassi and it's the one I want as my first T., but they're scarce here in America and pricey when available. I'm hoping that more people breed these! Your talk about breeding and such was wonderful as well. The owner of MicroWilderness (based in California) has been catching, breeding, and releasing Brachypelmas and Aphonopelmas for a bit now and I think its a wonderful thing to do! Have fun at BTS this Sunday and thank you for another amazing video!! 😃💜
Thank you for opening up your heart to us what you do and represent it’s just pure magic the relationship you have with your spiders it’s just beautiful yes spiders are complex but how you are with them it’s just lovely The Smithy I have to admit is one lovely looking spider those patterns wow
I applaud your talk concerning preserving the spider in the wild. I've personally seen habitat destruction by commercial interests, just raking out the targeted animal/plant for quick profit. Well done.
I love brachypelma, i have all the species and all the tliltocatl to before they split them upp. I bought them all as slings exept a large B klaasi female i found for a great price. Exept for their slow growng pace and a period as juveniles where most of them will kick a lot of hair i love everything about them! I dont really breed spiders right now since i dont really have the time to take care of 100+ slings right now but in the future when my own kids are larger and my work career is more stable i will probably breed some of the more rare spicies.
Another great pairing video👍 I have always though of the Brachi Palmas as the spaghetti western spiders as we see them walking on the desert floor just before the gunfight.
another master class video PROFF. amazing educational for the hobby with brilliant encouragement and information for others to try pairing their spiders. some great footage CAMERA LADY. great spiders the BRACHYPELMA with colour amazing to the eye. many thanks guys and take care---PS will see you on Sunday at the BTS
Great video, great words Dave! I look forward to see more Brachys stuff next year and a new room sounds excitig! Good video as always. Wish you and camera lady a nice week and stay save. Greetings Chris
absolutely wonderful video, i was thinking for my first T to be this one....i want an irmina Venezuela suntiger but im only a beginner.... not many emperor scorpions in this hobby 😢❤️
Awesome save Dave... Such an awesome video. I remember having one of these years ago, not long after getting my first tarantula 26 years ago... Smithi was my second tarantula. I'm just glad knowledge has changed over the years. Good information Dave... See you at BTS 👍
I recently somehow sexed one of my two 3/8” B. Smithi slings as female, and then I see this video in my feed. Perfect timing! And a wonderful pairing too!
Very interesting pairing, and such beautiful spiders! I really appreciate your advice on breeding in order to curtail taking spiders out of the wild. Kudos!
Great video Dave, such a beautiful species. I love how clearly you show the importance to stay calm to control the situation to prevent him getting munched. Looking forward to meeting you on Sunday!
These guys are gorgeous! Until they start trying to eat each other. 😂 That was close. I thought she was gonna have herself a spidy snack. So glad you caught her in time. Hopefully we will have babies 🤞👶🏼🕷❤️
Love the video, and how lovely they both are. Gosh I wish I could come to the UK to meet you and camera lady. That would be a thrill of a lifetime! Have fun!! ♥
Great job Dave! I like it when you go through the scene at the end of the pairing video, and the way you explain the signs to look for in the behavior of the spiders, these things are always fascinating to observe. Greetings from Finland.
A very exciting pairing. Glad you saved the male. She was determined, but you were his savior. Great job! Two beautiful spiders. I wish you all the best on your move. I don't envy you and Camera Lady one bit.
Congratulations on the show and ur participation, that's awesome man! And thx on this vid cuz, I had always until now, thought the total opposite! I luv updating the knowledge database from a reputable source (sources). That slip of the male reminds me of the vid (can't remember which T), but a pairing started wild like that, male penetrated, but then on escape, he did the same, but fell like, on her, upside down, and it was to late to do anything so, good save this time. She thought she was sneaky, huh?! She was curlin around him, and he seemed to not even realize, crazy! \O>
Ohh my goodness, amazing to watch, I really like these Mexican Red knee, they are very interesting to watch, and the mating was nerve racking to watch!!, I thought he was going to be on her menu!!, but you got in there quick, I love watching your videos, 😂😂❤❤
Brilliant video! That male should be buying you a pint 😂 Happy to report that I picked up my first 2 Tarantula’s today in fact. An A.avicularia and a B. smithi. Both about 1.5-2 inches so well started slings. Super excited and grateful to your channel! Thank you!
You have helped me so much Dave, not just the videos but our conversations in messages too. My husbandry is getting better with the tips you’ve given me, rehouses haven’t been bad and all my T’s seem to be thriving and growing ❤ I used to have 15 T’s but in the past few weeks I’ve added some and now I’m at 72 😬 I even decided to get some old worlds so I have Pokies, Asian and African species 😂 I’m hoping to breed a few of the species I’m raising, it might be a while but that’s my goal once they mature unless I get adults later down the road. I love this hobby and am so happy I got into it
I really loved that video. The smithys are so colourful. My first one is a hamorii which I got last summer and they are equally colourful. I'm glad I got into the hobby again. 12 years ago there was little information about spiders, so it's so much better now thanks to you and others
I’m glad to hear that my red knee is not the only one who is a slow eater!! I worry too much because he doesn’t like eating that often but he recently molted and he’s looking soooo beautiful 😍
Yes! I agree with you on that. Also if people are wary of breeding because they don't know what to do with the babies, go ahead and sell them to a breeder, they will take a large amount off your hands to sell on their own.
Thank you Dave for sharing this video, that was intense, to the previous pairing you showed, I'm so glad you got in there with the brush for the male, I saw her intention as you was saying it about trying to drag him under. Amazing Dave and amazing camera work too. I watch all your videos on a 65" and they look amazing, especially watching these pairings and our boy thumping his legs today. Really appreciated Dave. 👍
Wow thats great Dave and Camera lady, they are beautiful Ts arent they....I think the male had a harder time gripping the plastic it looked a bit harder for him to grip that tub, the glass seems easier for them or other material I think thats why he was clumbsy the waterdish and that plastic. Great save Dave amazing pairing and fantastic video!
i appreciate that we get to see more of the interesting old worlds on this channel but i just can't help but love brachypelmas. would be cool to see you breed the others, like the baumgarteni and klaasi, hamorii, etc.
Thank you for Dave. The paring of the spiders was cool but the other part where you talked about them was really great. I learnt something today about this species. ❤ Thank you.
When I was 5 or so years old one my moms friends he had a big smithi female and scred the hell outta me had no idea spiders got that big gave me nightmares but also sparked a life long fascination over these creatures when I was 15 and bought my first t a rose hair of course haha I seen my first obt back then at this hole n the wall petshop n marion indiana 120$ for em and was just as crazy then as they are now but was much bigger then it had be 7in easy
I am glad you are aware that you don't do much on the new world beginner spiders , on the other hand it's very interesting when you show and pair some of the more exotic stuff so i shouldn't complain . 😂 Great save . As i understand it the spider you were talking about , the one that was very comon in the hobby for years was the b.hamorrii sold as the smithy and it was only recently that they discovered the actually smithy was from a different area and not the one widespread in the hobby .
Great save there Dave you really can read your spiders very well 👏 Let's hope for some pretty babies shortly Wonderful content as always guys ❤ your channel 👍😊
Thank you for the helpful videos on pairing spiders! I just got females, but just bought males for my B. hamorii and B. emilia. It helps to see your experiences!
20:45 Now it makes sense why, when I was a kid, if you had to imagine 'a tarantula' then the colouring and patterning of the smithi is exactly what we would have pictured.
Wow Dave, great save at the end there. She wanted to eat him sooooooooooo bad!
He was like Dave Dave get my sorry ass outa here lol
😂😂😂😂
Awesome! Their bodies look like they have gold fireworks on them!
I love the Mexican red knee my first tarantulas I had at 5 years old was Mexican red knee and I now have 8 of them 33 years later beautiful breed

Just like a super model blowing up the runway…she is gorgeous, confident, knows her moves…and loves her job. She is fabulous, and she knows it.🖤🇨🇦
Dave, if you could film the show, it would be immensely entertaining for all of us, international fans Plus, it would be great content for your channel.
Dave's play by play analysis on these pairing videos is masterful. It's makes the action much more colorful, and enjoyable. I looove it!
❤❤❤❤❤
When she started to curl her legs over him, I said out loud, "Dave, her legs! She's going to get him!" LOL!
Thanks Dave this was a very exiting video. I still have no spider but always enjoy your content.
That extraction of the male was precarious and funny. As soon as he had an out, he was outta there 🤣
I would have been mortified trying to keep him safe lol
I am sure that is one happy guy. You saved him from being a meal.
Great job.
Another awesome pairing video!
They are spectacular on the tv 👍🏻👍🏻

That was a nail biter! Two beautiful spiders and I’m glad you saved the male.
Hello great video information and pairing Dave
Thank you 🙏
She looks so confused after the paintbrush comes in lol. What a time. Good luck getting a sac! ❤

She was a hungry lady 🕷️ I was trying to look over the edge of that tub. 😂😂
Wicked vid Dave, I plan to get one myself soon. A smithi was the first tarantula I saw as a kid, knocking on 25 odd years ago now.

Was nice to see a video in the middle of the week Thank you so much
Dave and his beautiful wife always post a video on Mondays and Thursdays every week

Just a conversation that’s been going on for years and one I doubt we will ever get to the bottom of 😂
Yes, Dave, put your giga funnel webs on your giant TV screen! I did that, and I was blown away! 🤣
❤❤❤👍
Great save there Dave you really can read your spiders very well 👏
Let's hope for some pretty babies shortly

Awesome video! The pairings are definitely my favorite 💙💙💙
Thank you for the helpful videos on pairing spiders! I just got females, but just bought males for my B. hamorii and B. emilia. It helps to see your experiences!
