I think what you were also trying to say in the beginning about breeding spiders that drop an egg sac quickly as a beginner keeper will also help build your confidence as a keeper 😁 I wake up every day in America around 5am and hope you have dropped a video. Best Tarantula TH-cam channel by far. Thanks 🙏😁

    22:39: How sweet.🥰
I love, when you can see, that the spiders thrive; eating, drinking, or webbing.
Always good to know, that we take good care of our animals, and that they seem to "appreciate" it.😊

Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💙💕🕷️hope you’re both doing well and enjoying your new week so far.
Really enjoyed watching this video! That would be awesome if you were to do another video, more in-depth detail. The more know about breeding their spiders the less wild ones will be needed. Thanks for your invaluable information. And thanks too to Camera Lady for getting the footage just right 😊😊
Take care and have a fantastic week 💙💕🕷️🥰😘xxxx

Just got 154 slings from a P regalis pairing I didn’t expect anything from - he went in and she instantly attacked and rippled off three of his legs and one pedipalp! He must have sacrificed those to slip the other palp in for the win 😂
An important factor for pairing spiders is making sure you have someone who wants them! I have only just finished passing on the last of the 459 H mac slings I had in January 😂

That mesh enclosure is brilliant! I had written several weeks ago about my fears in breeding tarantulas in the newer tall plastic “cereal” boxes you have been implementing. While these enclosures are deep they also have a smaller floor space, my worries were about survival rates in males of different species having enough room to get away, if possible, after breeding.
I know that sometimes it just happens. Maybe part of a successful conception act requires the female to eat the male, getting some particular critical “something” through consuming the male at that time. (Sorry, rambling along again as I do not know the correct words for what I’m trying to hypothesize.)
Another smart and practical solution from you and camera lady. Bravo!

And thank you for helping us understand the fundamental dynamics that make for breeding success, I myself do not breed spiders, or even keep spiders, but I do love learning from you all the ways to enjoy this hobby. I have gained a better understanding and respect for spiders because of you- Dave. So Kudos to you and Camera Lady for teaching me how to cope with my fears. We often fear what we don;t understand.

The closest I've ever been to this is scooping frog spawn out of a pond bringing it home and putting it in a little tank, it's quite interesting watching them develop into tadpoles then froglets take them back and release them.

Paired my pamphobeteus south equador, twice with the same female. Both looked successful, wasnt sure about the first attempt but the second pairing was def good, unfortunately she ate him. Now pairing my platyommas is like watching paint dry. They will stand still next to each other for hours. Then when you look away the go at it. But i dont know if he did the deed. He built abother spermweb, gonna try again soon. Just dont want him eaten. Males are beautiful! Large and purple! Paired my g pulchra and waiting for a sac, as well as the male to make another spermweb to pair with my other female. A chalcodes has been paired, waiting also for a sac. Breeding can be fun or like pulling teeth. 😅😂

This topic fascinates me. See so many others who put breeding videos up and lose their male and although I’m no expert on this, some seems as if the male is almost an afterthought and could have been saved. I know you have a high success rate in saving your males. Hopefully others take note

Psalmopeus species, Psalmopeus irminia and Psalmopeus cambrigei, Avicularia avicularia, Monocentropus balfouri was mentioned as a good terrestrial, Harpactira pulchripes (stunning one by the way), OBT or Pterinochilus murinus... but those aren't really for beginner keepers. They have a temperament.
You should find quite some information on them. I'm not fluent in common names though.

This mesh container is a brilliant idea. I had commented a few weeks ago about my concern about breeding space when you started to move several tarantulas into these tall oval plastic cereal containers and their much smaller floor space. I wondered if you were only moving certain arboreal species, or ....? Not being a keeper of these gorgeous creatures I have no practical experience in keeping them. I know I’m squeamish in that I don’t want to watch to male being eating during or post mating, although there is probably (maybe?) a needed “something” inside the male that the female receives while consuming him. (Sorry, rambling around in the dark as I don’t know the words for what I’m hypothesizing.)
Well done, and the way you have implemented this “breeding mesh enclosure” is wonderful. I am looking forward to any footage you will be able to share. Thank you!

Another awesome vid full of great info. I get so frustrated when others chase a male into the lady's home to 'speed up the process'. This works for some species and is deadly for others. Plus, it takes away the exciting part of courting. Watching them court a female by drumming is so neat. I love the net butterfly enclosure idea. It maybe a little hard to see through and probably needs a time-lapse camera to catch some of the action, but it probably feels more natural to the spiders. With the sperm web trick, we don't have to stare at them to check for the 'Delivery of the package'. 🎁😂 You and Camera Lady do the best learning vids. Thanks again and Happy Holidays to you guys and anyone else who happens to read this. 🕷❤

6 months sounds a little long for a sac, but as long as she didn't molt, you still have a chance. Try feeding well, give her temp and humidity she needs and as little stress as possible. But you might need another pairing

I have a question that you can help me with. I know that you occasionally sell some of your critters, which of course involves packaging them up properly for the shipment & I know that you unfortunately had the no fun of having to pack up everything and move. : (Definitely no fun). I will most likely be doing the same in the next few months or more. I've seen the packaging & unboxing videos where the insides of the boxes are lined with styrofoam. My question is about the temperature. Where do you put the heat packs? What type of heat packs & where do you get them? That would definitely be helpful for me. We need our critters to be happy & comfortable. : )

I use 48hr heat packs can be found online or the spidershop , I place mine on the bottom never on the spiders you may cook them 👍

Dave, I absolutely love watching your and camera lady's videos! Best channel on TH-cam. Wish we could see more of the camera lady. I think you should write a book on tarantulas about care, feeding, breeding, etc. I would absolutely buy your book if you write one. I think it would be a best seller! Keep up the great work. Hats off to the camera lady!!! Channel wouldn't be the same without her!

I just paired my P. Metallica. From what I’ve read, I’m supposed to drop the temp to around 65F/18C and keep her on the wet side? Does that sound right?

@daveslittlebeasties Darn. Lol I just made my first pairing of them 4-17-24 With a follow up pairing a week later. She was receptive both times. The first pairing was successful.
But I have been looking to see if they need any seasonal changes or not. If I am successful and it's allowed I'd love to send you some slings but you're also across the pond!

How hard are the Ephebopus murinus to breed? I have a mature female and 3 subadults that I'm hoping at least one male

Watching this as a refresher or seeing if i can improve. Had my first breeding success last month. C.versicolor. pairing was done in 30 mins around December and left the sac with the female. She was a younger smaller female but i got a good 52 slings out of it. Attempting N.incei and T.raasti next, will be pulling these ones though.

Hey Dave. Have you ever thought of getting a small room webcam that switches to night vision? You may catch something at night?
