    I was lucky enough to test out and show off the brand new XTool D1 Pro 20w diode laser. During my initial test I ran into some that cut my testing way shorter than I expected, though even with just a few test cuts I am blow away by what this amount of laser power is capable of.

    I used to think most diode lasers were just glorified toys especially compared to my big expensive co2 lasers, but the XTool D1 changed my mind with their new diode technology giving more power then I thought possible. co2 Lasers better watch out cause this thing packs a powerful punch.

    The D1 pro looks awesome. I just got the D1 a couple of months ago, so I'm jealous! ;) Interesting results for the higher air pressure for the air assist, I guess thinking about it, it makes sense since it could force air into the deeper cut and clear out smoke and debris. As to your decision to downgrade to a previous firmware version... I don't think i really need to say much, looks like you learned the correct lesson. Another question or two:
    - a fellow teacher said he uses xtool M1 in his class, but it’s a good chunk more $ and the biggest difference I can see is the enclosure. Are u aware of any differences that might be worth the $?
    - any safety considerations I should prep for before I turn my class loose? (Venting, goggles, enclosure, etc.)
    Thx much!

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the M1 is enclosed and also has a vinyl cutter but I've never been a fan of the all in one machines as they to me seem to do the jobs less well than a dedicated machine.
      I am about to get the enclosure kit for the D1 and make a video on how to setup a laser indoors.
      But yes for the classroom enclosure is a good idea as you won't have to have glasses on everyone in the classroom.
      Venting will be big for you have access to a window? If not there are units that filter out all the smoke and can be left indoors but I haven't personally used those yet.

    Specialy at those high pressures ?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know the exact science behind it but besides keeping your lens clean to work at optional power I would guess air is also removing the particles that are being burned clearing the way for the laser to continue to pass through thicker layers without being blocked. I also think that there is some kind of adding fuel to the fire thing going on if you imagine blowing on a campfire it intensifies the heat and I believe the laser is having something similar happing here. Compressor Question: I like the idea of the HPA, but am struggling to find a compressor. The one you are showing may be workable, but one thing you are not mentioning is how long are you running it at 40psi? Is that the maximum continuous output of the machine? Is the motor cycling, or, running the entire time? How long can the motor manage that? When I am completely up to speed, I'll be doing 380x800mm ish pieces with deep (1.5mm) engraving, which could take quite a while, even if I used the 40w, so, I am trying to find a machine that won't leave me with a pile of compressor motors in my yard.

      @@anonymous-wx5xu have you looked at the pricing on the 5w option wouldn't be a bad place to start. My first laser was a 2.5w 😊

      You are absolutely right 🤦‍♂️I did find the flame sensor and that's definitely not it. I should have known as the normal D1 has the red dot pointer in the same place.

    I have a love hate with this 20w kinda a waste looking for something new, no customer support for all the things that go wrong with it...

      What’s going on with yours? I hear the best way to get support is through the official Xtool FB group.
