    Technically Rose Gold is an alloy of Copper and Gold. There can be different balances of it but what makes Rose Gold is Copper and Gold. The combination produces a slightly red/pink hue to the gold. This is far from a rose gold but I'd be interested to see what happens if you mixed this 50/50 with Copper Ghost.

    • @realjettlag
      @realjettlag ปีที่แล้ว +3

  • @NieroshaiTheSable
    @NieroshaiTheSable ปีที่แล้ว +159

    Remember, to get rose gold metallurgically, you need to alloy gold and copper. It has a bit of a pinkish hue, but it has those red-orange undertones of copper and the mellowness of the gold. I'd give this another shot, but as a speed shape trial to find a pigment mix. Maybe try different base coats, you might need to start with copper or gray?

      This is what I came hoping to see. Thanks to Apple, I think most people think it just means metallic pink. Actual rose gold metal and jewelry is so much better.
      In the beaker this just looks like pearl Pepto to me; over black it's a nice metallic lilac. The tiny hint of gold pearl seems to have been eaten. So while it misses rose gold by a mile, I love the color.

  • @TubularBra

    5 for beauty; 3 for “Rose Gold”. If that same color was sprayed over a burnt orange base vs black, I think some of the silver look would shift the orange through with metallic sheen vs black reflecting straight silver.

    I agree with some other comments, it's a good start. Spraying over a warmer base, like brown or orange would probably make this an actual pink/rose color and let any gold particles really stand out. The coverage is great, the tone is just too cool for it to be called Rose or Gold. This is a Lilac Ice.

    I like that “iced lavender” name somebody came up with. Thats nice and I think it suits this color. For me, just based on the phrasing, I think rose gold needs to be a pink tinted gold. This seemed to focus too much on the pink. I don’t know which one would be better, but I also think this could be closer if it was put over a different base possibly. Idk though, I’m just rambling at this point. 😂 as a rose gold? Missed the mark in my opinion, 0/5. But taking it for what it is, it’s a pretty nice color and I’d give it a 4/5. Doesn’t amaze me, but I do find it pleasant.

  • @crazyshelly2628
    @crazyshelly2628 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In some lights it does come super close! Rose gold has almost a copper appearance to it so maybe adding a little copper or gold to it would do the trick? Just a thought. I would definitely do some experimenting with it on the tester before going full scale again. Maybe even spraying it on top of a gold base?

Definitely need more gold in there, the rose part is perfect! I agree with the “rose silver” comments for sure. I love that you guys are still working on it tho☺️

  • @laurelp9120
    @laurelp9120 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The technical term for the color this most looks like is purple steel. Rose gold requires a golden base, not yellow. Yellow has no undertone and has a tendency to take over since it’s a pure primary color, but gold has red and blue hints in it’s undertone so the brightness can be tuned up or down. Like any rose gold, the heavier the pigment/layers the more the gold will take over the pink. (I’m a color theorist so I care way too much lol 😂) Still a very pretty car 💜 Love this channel, love watching your dips. (As reference to rose gold MAC Cosmetics has a loose pigment called rose gold you can look at for an example) Love y’all ✌️

  • @artofmkd
    @artofmkd ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The KP Lemon Lime color shift base, I think this would work for it! That might get this color to tip into a real rose gold. The only interference might be the pink being close enough to the cool tone end that it might bring out more of the lime shift, but that might work in your favor, as true rose gold metals have just a hedge of green to them on the secondary highlights.

    It's a pretty pinkish-purple. But definitely not a rose gold. As Gabe said.... Rose gold is on the warmer side of the colour chart. To make rose gold jewellery, they mix classic yellow gold and copper. The higher the copper content in the mixture, the more depth of color of the pinkish hue of rose gold. Random info 😁

  • @MEGQuilts
    @MEGQuilts ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Needs to lose about 2 shades of blue and gain about 10 karats of gold to be rose gold, but it's a very nice, cool lavender. I tend to go by the Black Hills version of rose gold to determine metallic colors. They also mine a green gold and a russet gold there. Very pretty.

  • @simonjenkins5738
    @simonjenkins5738 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is this guy really asking, “Does Rose Gold need to have gold? Can it be silver?”. Rose gold is gold and copper, not copper and silver

  • @canikostar99
    @canikostar99 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    4/5 It's close! It's got the right shades in the powder, but it's not opaque enough to completely cover the base and that straight black is too cool/neutral for the undertones. Chocolate ore, motor oil, or camo brown should be warm enough to get the right color.
    I'd like to see copper ghost over vintage gold base (with maybe a bit of fusion pink mixed in if you are looking for a more pink rose gold). If memory serves from your copper ghost over different bases video, copper ghost hits the pink notes on the warm colors.

  • @ronaldmarsh7025

    Rose gold is a name for an alloy of gold, copper and some silver. The copper is the major component in the shift.
    Maybe to truly answer you could mix 70% gold pearl, 25% copper pearl and 5% silver pearl.

    I would agree with some others. It’s different, but maybe a beige/tan/sandy color base with the saturation cut in half. Like a 25:1 quantity to let the base come through a little bit more to help emphasize the “gold” effect.

    Ok, in the bag and as you mixed it, I could see the potential for rose gold, but I was wondering if it would stand up to that black base coat.
    The base coat took it from rose to lavender.
    If the base coat was wicked wine, desert tan, or burnt copper, the rose gold would really pop!

  • @etoineschrdlu9382
    @etoineschrdlu9382 ปีที่แล้ว

    I dunno what I'd call it, but Rose Gold doesn't leap to the top of my list. I don't know what level of transparency/coverage your spray job accomplished, so I don't know if a white, pink, red, or rocket red base coat would allow the 'Rose Gold' to pop and cause people to say: "Oh, Yeah! That's definitely Rose Gold!", but the dark base coat looks as though it's holding it back.

    Honestly I'd love to see this done over a pastel pink, desert sand or matte silver base. Maybe mix in a little bit of gold or copper flake (half the amount of the rose gold, so 25g per 2 gal.) & do some test sprays to see how it looks. Something tells me having a base that isn't too dark, but has similar color to the flake, is the way to go.

    I'd probably mix the rose gold pigment with some standard yellow gold and a bit of copper ultra-fine metallic pigment. Probably something like 60/30/10 on the ratios? Just to tame how ridiculously pink it looks and bring it a bit closer to the actual color of rose gold in jewelry.

    Nice metalic pink, but that's not rose gold.
    Actual rose gold is a gold/copper alloy that is around 25% copper. I think the only way to make a rose gold dip would be to use a combination of flakes in those proportions. A cool experiment would be putting 3 sheets of gold leaf and one sheet of copper leaf into a quart of matte clear and grinding it up with the mixer for a speed shape trial.

    Rose gold is an actual form of gold alloy that is made into jewelry if you want to know whether your pigment looks like rose gold go to a jewelry store and ask to look at a piece of rose gold.

    I think you need to mix a gold pearl in this and that would be a perfect rose gold.

    I mine gold, and it's definitely close.. probably lighter adjustment. Over a gray to white base.

    I think a key factor in calling something "Rose Gold" would be a gold base.... this is most definitely not a gold base. Dope color... but not at all what comes to mind when I think "rose gold"

    This answer might be kind of TLDR. Usually with this sort of thing you have a range rather than a precise value. So it's up to interpretation. But if you google 'rose gold wedding ring' you'll see hewelry that's a kind of Salmon or orangish pink. Rose Gold is actually a gold copper alloy. I'm seeing a pale purple to almost silver. This personally doesn't match my expectation of rose gold. That said it's a very interesting color still.

    looked like bubble gum in the glass but, as many others pointed out, once sprayed it definitely looked like a metallic lavender

    I'd call it more of a "Platinum Rose". Gorgeous though.

    they mis labeled the bag, no doubt it is actually plumb silver ... perhaps it would have been closer if sprayed over a gold base

    Rosé without the gold. It’s nice but needs the burnt cooper under tone to make it rose gold

    Maybe with a different base you could get the rose gold I like, which is slightly more pink with more yellow tones in it.

    Rose gold is a blend, or an alloy of pure 24 karat yellow gold, copper and silver. Maybe mixing these colors will lead to a better result , Rose gold is a blend, or an alloy of pure 24 karat yellow gold, copper and silver. So the questions would be wat kind of rose gold color you are looking for

    I think over an Orange or Yellow base will be closer but as many have said this is Metallic Lavender

    I do see Rose Pink. Could be a Tickle Me Pink, or even a hint of Lavender. Don't see Gold though, lol. Very nice color regardless.

    Had an idea... What do you think about mixing Fusion Pink and Burnt Copper, and then maybe going over that with the Gold Candy!?!?
