    I’m loving your quilt blocks. The design sounds really interesting and I’m glad that you’re enjoying the process. I’ve also started my own quilting journey, because I’ve sewn myself so many garments that I’m not getting chance to wear them. I figured I needed something else that I could spend my time on. I’m following Dizzy Quilts and Sews QAYG for my first quilt, and I’m enjoying the process.

    I always enjoy your videos, glad you're back. That quilt looks like so much fun to make. You know they say no quilt is ever perfect. I think you should think about quilting your ladies. I would think about detail quilting the design of the dress. You inspired me to find a quilt project. I am looking forward to see your finished quilt.

    Lovely to have you back. Wow your blocks are amazing! I imagine you will need more quilting for the people. You could echo quilt them (stitch around the person like you want to then follow that line about 1/4” away or the width of your foot). I think this is normally done going outwards/bigger, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be done from the outside in.
    You must be so excited to be finally moving back home.

    Your quilting is quite unusual- and absolutely fantastic of course. Know what you mean about the Tudors- left a huge impression on me since school days too. I am a garment maker but dipped my toe in the quilting water this year- concluded it is not for me ( my fabric choice didn’t help as I now don’t like it) but will finish the project I started at some point….🤔. I do like your idea of how you will quilt the fabric. Your cotton fabric is gorgeous- eye poppingly so!!! Good Luck with your health regime. Lovely to see you back and huge congrats on your 2k. Hi Sarah
    I too am currently down a quilting rabbit hole 😂
    English paper piecing in my case. It was supposed to be a long term project but garment sewing is now definitely on the back burner 🙄
    I am trying not to rush and to enjoy the process 😊
    Mine is a large quilt so I plan to send it to someone with a long arm machine for the actual quilting.
    Great video as always 😊

    Tudor fanatic here (since I was 12, and that was light years ago)! What a wonderful job you have done Sarah! It was a time of such symbolism, so perhaps a Tudor Rose print for the backing sheet? Six, the Musical, was a lot of fun, wasn’t it? And yes, Henry should be last! 😉

    Love your ex wives. I live in Aust but visit UK annually to visit family. I can highly recommend Creative Patchwork in East Mosely, it's about 10 mins walk from Hampton Court Palace. The ladies there are super knowledgeable and extremely helpful. And I think your quilt plan of outlining the queens and cross hatching the background is a good one. Look forward to seeing updates

      I was going to recommend Creative Quilting in Bridge Street too but you beat me to it !! I'm also not a quilter but they have some wonderful quilting fabrics. All the staff are really knowledgeable and if you need any guidance, Sarah, it's worth popping in to discuss. You mentioned swans belonging to the King, I don't know if you are aware but it's Swan upping next week and they set out from Sunbury Lock at 9am on Monday (15/7) and then go to Shepperton Lock around 10am. If you are in the area maybe worth a look.

    The actual quilting of this quilt, your plan to outline the people is fine, and the background is fine as well. The problem may arise with the inequality of density of stitching, that is, those blocks are big enough, and the people are big enough, that going inside the people’s bodies to periodically secure the 3 layers will avoid the wonkiness that can happen when an area goes unquilted. Former quilter with a number of years as a professional quilter is where I’m coming from. Also might recommend a wool batting, it’s all I use, is washable, and breathable. FWIW

    Lovely to see you - was the sew the inspiration look for the mosaic tile Whitney on Tomkat stitchery? If not she has one with very very similar fabric that was very expensive as Whitney purchased it in Italy. And best of all I got some of the fabric from Emporium Yay! The quilt will look amazing too.

  • @ginaburgess9759
    @ginaburgess9759 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Sarah. I think you will have to do more quilting than simply outline the figures. Your blocks are quite large by the looks of things and leaving large areas unquilted would effect the longevity of the quilt. The batting would possibly disintegrate and the blocks would bulge out a bit. I would suggest doing some stitching in the ditch inside the figures and to invest in a walking foot for your machine if you see more quilting in your future! Your blocks look great btw!

  • @bravelittlebuckaroo
    @bravelittlebuckaroo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Your quilt is so cute! You've done a fantastic job. Are you planning to hand or machine quilt? Either way, you might find that only quilting around the queens will leave too large an area unquilted. The batting you choose will likely have a recommendation on the packaging of how close together your quilting lines should be. I'm not sure how big the ladies are, but if they are bigger than the recommended distance, you might consider also quilting around the parts of each block that would make sense. For example, the parts that make up the sleeves and different parts of the dresses, around their faces and headdresses, etc. I can't wait to see it progress! Good luck!
