Hi, first time watching one of your videos! :) Really loved your Fleur and appreciated all of your comments about it. I really love the design of the Fleur and plan to make one as well (I feel like this is going to be trending for this challenge). I have a fun cotton shirting with papayas all over it.
Your dress looks gorgeous. 😀 good call with the button/bow placement. I think most women's fullest part of the bust is across the middle, but there never seems to be a button hole there!
Loving the Fleur dress and the fabrics. How about a banana print bag?? Nothing fruity for me this year but made loads last year. Never enter anything though as I don’t do Instagram- maybe it’s time I did!! I used the cotton poplin last year like your dress but with cherries- made a blouse. Happy Sewing. 😊 Lynne
Didn't even realise they were 2 different fabrics! Great job bringing them together with the alternating tiers and using the pineapples in the ties. We should meet up for a picnic (if the sun ever comes out!). I've made a dress in that banana print, it's awesome! Thanks for joining the vlog tour!
I am entering, although it is fruit color. I have 2 fruit dresses, lemons and raspberries. I have some strawberry fabric in my cart… maybe will purchase. I don’t really need anymore fabric 😂 but I can’t stop and risk missing out. I a, sewing sooooo much that I hope I will not have any problem getting through my stash. It’s not huge but I have plenty to keep me busy for a while. I may see if I can make a small item out of some quilting cotton. Your dress is beautiful! I plan to hack a pattern to include the ties. I have become more confident at hacking and can’t wait to give it a try!
Your dress looks really beautiful, really like the fabric, subtle but fruity. Planning to enter some largo cargo trousers in a guava pink and possibly a bag with the leftovers if I get it done before the end of the month.
First time seeing your video, really enjoyed it!! Brand new to sewing and going to start slow and build up skills, love your style and to say you’ve only being sewing for 3 yrs is really inspiring.
Lovely dress, I have got the watermelon and pineapple fabric too. You can get it in cherries but it’s hard to find. I got my two fabrics at Goldhawk Road. I love the fabric but it’s a pain to iron, so creasy.
I love your fabrics together. It looks intentional. I am so glad you mentioned the bust gaping. I did a toile of the bodice to check fit and bust dart placement but I didn't bother with ties since I just used a scrap of fabric. But I will do as you suggested and add another tie. I am doing a sleeveless version and the arm holes are so low. And the bust dart was low, so instead of using the lengthen shorten line, I took out 3/4 inch from above the arm hole and that solved both issues. I will start cutting out tonight.
That's interesting to know - how did you get on with the 4th tie? I ended up stitching over the existing Stitch line on one side from the waist seam up to the 2nd bow and that has solved the problem on this dress but I think I would go for 4 ties on the next one instead 😥
Shortening it above the bust worked great. Adding that 4th tie was perfect. I don’t have any gaping or pulling. I just marked where the top tie was to go and spaced the rest evenly.
Gorgeous Fleur! I made one this week too and wondered about the ties, so I sewed the shoulder seams first and draped it over me so I could position the ties where I needed them to be rather than use their suggestions and it worked about quite well. It’s a fab pattern though and I’m planning more! I think I have that fabric with embroidered cherries 🍒 Have a lovely week!
Your approach to the ties sounds much more sensible 😅 I have ended up stitching along the existing Stitch line from the waist up to the middle bow and that seems to have done the trick without being too obvious 🙏🏻
Love your Fleur dress, the orange fabric would look gorgeous in some loose wide leg trousers for your holiday. I’ve got some white double gauze with strawberries on, not sure what I’m going to make yet for the challenge
Have you got your overlocker out yet ? You will regret not having made all those lovely childrens sweatshirts and pansy dresses you make on it. It makes it so easy and the seams look so much more professional. ( not that I’ve ever seen your seams and they are probs very neat) . I am also going to continue to nag you to make an indigo. Make it in jersey, adjust the pattern to eliminate the bust darts and you will have a super quick comfy dress or top with no fit issues. ( Have I convinced you yet)
Wonderful review. I LOVE all your helpful tips for ladies that are curvy. That’s one reason why O enjoy your content. That’s for being the pioneer and trying these patterns for all of us ladies. I am hacking my Anna Allen blouse with the indigo sleeves with a scrap left over from an Indigo dress I absolutely love. I am enjoying hacking the patterns I have that fit me really well so I can avoid adjustments. It is taking me some time to get my plans together but I am enjoying the process so far. It is great to learn new hacking skills. I drafted the privacy placket and a cuff for the TATB sleeve as it is elasticated. I also constructed the ties pattern from another pattern that has ties for the neckline. Do you enjoy hacking? Do you think it takes less time to hack or less time to do pattern adjustments? I feel hacking saves me money but may not save me time, it may be more fun to hack than do adjustments for me.
So sorry to be so late responding to this! I think that maybe pattern adjustments take less time once you get used to the ones that you need. I find that for the most part if I pick the right size for my shoulders, then I can get a decent fit with just an FBA and grading between sizes so now I can make those adjustments quire quickly - but I know that some people are a whizz with hacking!

Really appreciate your review and suggestions on the Fleur as I’m making it at the weekend and prob would not have thought of the bow placement. ❤

Thanks Louise - sorry for the slow response. I hope that you are still loving sewing 3 months on!

Ooo the Strawberry double Gauze sounds great - did you decide what to make in the end? Love the suggestion of the orange-y trousers too 🍊
@@superbaillessews I decided to make a Donny shirt as I’d only purchased a metre
I have the watermelon fabric. Got it from Fabric Godmother
Beautiful dress on you!!!
Thanks Karol 💕

Similar to Tilly and the Button pattern that is a V neck. Called Nell dress, I believe.
Yes the Nell dress looks lovely too!
I love your dress ❤ XXX
Thanks, Caron 💕

Aww thank you Louise! Honestly it has brought me so much joy in those three years - definitely sounds like you are going about things the right way 💕
