I have been laughing & tearing up as I watch you both experience it all. I love her reaction every time she sees an animal! Back when you were talking about the air & the water, reminded me of when we were visiting in 2006 & how the hotel tap water tasted just like spring water & how refreshing the air was. Alaska will always be home to me more than any other place.
I was reading through to see if anybody mentioned the ticks. Yeah, fleas and ticks are not native to Alaska. Generally there aren't any unless you brought some with you. ^_^

Re-watching this vlog, and another difference that's probably pretty apparent with dog parks in Alaska vs California (especially the part of California you were in before, LA type area), the dogs in Alaska are mostly it seems bigger more substantial dog breeds, LA, mostly purse pooches, and apartment dogs, aka much smaller breeds. You definitely ought to look into eventually (when the time is right) getting a second dog, so that Penny has a pal, you have a larger dog to take with you on hikes, a dog you can raise from young so it gets along with the kitties. 😊
When you experienced the beauty of the mountains in California, I kept thinking about how you'd react to the beauty of northern NH and VT where I used to live. This area seems quite similar. I'm so glad that you get to experience this! You're making me homesick. :) I am SO enjoying your vlogs...always have!

I've been noticing that some of these places in Alaska are VERY similar to Michigan's Keewenaw Peninsula. If you ever have the means or opportunity, you should vacation there. There are ENDLESS microbreweries, fishing spots, trails, and just beautiful nature scenes.
