I don't even own a Toyota or intend to replace any of those parts on the car I do actually own. I just like her voice and the joyful way she works, no matter what she is doing. It is also quite clear that she knows exactly how to do what she is talking about. All in all, a winning combination and a pleasant way to spend some TH-cam time.
Hey Faye, I have watched at least 4 videos explaining the water pump replacement procedures for my 2004 4Runner. Now this video is for a Tacoma, but as I am sure you know the engine (4.0) and water pump are the same as my 4Runner. The other videos I watched left out a bunch of what I consider to be important details. Thank you so much for this video, it was immensely helpful.
I have a 2006 Tundra with the same engine. Thank you so much for showing me where that little hose goes in back of the air cleaner , it was just killing me!
Thank you Faye, very very well done and demonstration. Been waiting for this one in a long time. Looking forward to see the rare Toyota TRD supercharger install. I do not believe a video of a TRD supercharger on a 2nd Gen Taco exists. Carlo Quinn
YESSS 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 preventative maintenance maybe - assuming yours has much lower miles??😁 These probably coulda gone to 250k without a hiccup, but with all the trips we have been doing lately, I don't like to take ANY risks!
Thanks for the good video Faye! A couple of things that I would like to point out to others that may be thinking about this job: 1 - the two O-rings (one on the coolant pump, the other on the cross pipe between it and the inlet housing ) are INCLUDED with the Toyota OEM coolant pump. 2 If one has a towing package (and Faye does not), there are two more hoses that go to the oil cooler. The part numbers for those hoses are: 15777-31010 & 15778-31010.
Give this video 2-thumbs up compliments to you, coming from a 35yrs of working experience toyota technician, good job. Especially the reminder to reconnect the trans cooler hose and clip to the fan shroud, if not done the the hose will be wind drawn into the fan blade and hose damaged (tech hint)😮
I've missed you and your videos Faye!!!🥰🥰🥰. Everytime i drive my New Corolla i think about how nice it would be if i had a mechanic like you to work on it for me. Oh that's right, nothing every breaks. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is phenomonal camera work for this type of video. Really excellent production. Def using this channel as first point of research for future problems!
YESSSSS!!! It comes with the Toyota FIPG! A new one comes with every tube, so I have a small collection of them. I give them away to other techs and friends I have so many!! But you can get them for toothpaste tubes like this one!! amzn.to/3SqZDQw haha!!
Thank you for the advice. You are a beautiful lady. You remind me of girl that was in my class at vocational school. She was good to me she let me use her tools and helped me with what ever she could. I wasn’t very good at learning from books. I learned from experience.
Amazing video quality and explanation of everything! This will help me when I have to do this or other repairs in my similar Tacoma! I appreciate the work you put and information you give!
Great job again Faye! Your "instructions" are very clear and concise along with excellent visual support. At 15:41, I did notice a vertical crack in a casting, (perhaps the tensioner bracket, idk). I suspect you already knew about that though and have probably taken care of it already, haha.
This was a very well done tutorial video. Great tips on the replacement of the parts to save down time down the road on repairs , plus headaches. Included all links to parts even . Thank you
Thanks Faye! My TACO is almost 20 years old and I keep wondering about the waterpump and the hoses and was trying to figure out how many other hoses were back there. Just replaced the belt and wondered about the idler pulleys. Looks like I'll need to order stuff and plan a day!!! Throw some feed to your chicken for me!!
Love your videos! I am trying to get up the courage to change the thermostat on my 1999 4Runner I have had since it was new. Long story, but it’s over heating. I think I gunked it up with Bars Leak Seal. I’ve since used a better leak seal that is working, but the shops I’ve taken it to want to do a head gasket repair or new engine and I just want to get some more miles out without a big investment in an old vehicle. No more check engine, but the temp creeps unless I have the heater on full blast. Last mechanic I talked to who has a shop in his pole barn and came highly recommended as one who will only fix what is absolutely needed, didn’t want to have anything to do with it. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement and guidance!
I had to check that I was still on youtube with all this talk about lube and tight spaces 😂. Great video, always love watching mechanic vids even on vehicles i'll never work on. Thank good I'm a hgv mechanic, there's more room
Very informative as always! I love your logic. A little extra time replacing stuff while you have the vehicle apart will save a whole lot of time, probably a tow truck, and a blue cloud of four letter swear words later! I'm a... FAN of your work!
I own a 2003 4runner with the same engine. You must have read my mind because I need this exact work done on my truck. I need a new water pump & front engine seals & hoses replaced. Then move to the top & replace my spark plugs and head gasket. Then replace my rear engine seal & oil pan gasket. Also get all new shocks & breaks installed. I know Toyota is going to charge me alot, but it's work that has to be done. Hopefully I get a tech like you who will be meticulous with my repairs.
Hey Faye, excellent video I almost wish I had a water pump to change. This video is going to be so helpful for those that need to do this job I especially like the trick to keep the tensioner neutral awesome job as always🐔🐔🐔👍
Awesome Faye! I will need to revisit this video when it's time for me to do the same on my 2nd gen taco. After watching this I'm craving for some watermelon.😊
Hi Faye!! Fantastic video here so instructional helpful to those who have this generation of Tacoma. Your camera work is just amazing Faye, how do you do it? Question please… Did that generation of 4 L engine have a timing chain and not timing belt? love your repair walk through vids!!
Yes, it has a timing chain!! Honestly, it is VERY hard to get the camera angles! I zip tied my phone to the radiator support, hung my camera from the hood, and definitely dropped both a million times!! I appreciate the kind words so much, because it made this job take FOREVER trying to get every shot in good focus and clear enough that everyone could follow. 🙏🏻😃
@@FayeHadleyThx for sharing this Faye, makes one appreciate all your exacting efforts even more! It sure paid off on some outstanding operational clarity! You are so articulate at your craft and so very helpful. Hope to meet you in person at some event in future….you are a special human! Have great day!
I miss the good old days of working on my 77 Chevette it broke every month or two, so I replaced virtually everything on the engine even the head was ruined when a hose broke, and it overheated but it was easy to work on compared to today's cars.
Hi, I believe you mentioned idler pulley #1 torque value at 29ft lbs in which is 40ft lbs. I really like your presentation on this as I am about to perform all pulley replacement.
Excellent, Faye and very comprehensive. Kudos to you for using genuine Toyota parts, which I also approve of. A bit surprised the tensioner didn’t come already locked as some do, but maybe that’s more for the timings belts rather than auxiliary. My (old) Toyota still has the 4 separate belts, which all need to be separately tightened so the single serpentine might be better. The water pump arrangement seems very complicated by comparison to mine by contrast. Did you consider cranking the engine over a little before adding the fan clutch to check the belt was fitted correctly and I might have given the grooves a bit of a clean with a stiff brush, especially if the old best was old, if you see what I mean? I think this would be safe as you have coolant in the block and it’s just to check the belt is bob-on on the pulleys. Have you any idea what the colours on the AISIN fan clutches means? Was aware of green and blue, plus plain / natural but hadn’t seen the pink. Been trying to find out how the performance of these varies by model of fan but not got very far. Lastly, I wouldn’t have included the music, but it’s your rodeo and wasn’t too bad. This is only tiny thing in your otherwise superb video. Well done and thanks!! Must go and check the radiator vid. Those big funnels seem brilliant!
Hi Faye! Great job you've done!!! Comparing to my 200 Land Cruiser cooling valley leak repair yours was piece of cake. Planning similar to your job on my 2014 Tacoma and just to make sure turning things the right direction, which pulleys bolts are removed the opposite way? May I missed something somewhere in your video. Thanks a lot in advance!

You’ve got soft hands brother
It's so satisfying to see work done with care and skill that I always end up watching these even though I have an old Accord right now.
Great Teacher ; someone who commands attention with easy listening and instructions. Thanks for the instructions.
Watching Faye on Sunday afternoon very awesome how someone can diy replace a water pump, thermostat & hose for a 2012- present Toyota Tacoma
Hey Faye, I have watched at least 4 videos explaining the water pump replacement procedures for my 2004 4Runner. Thanks Faye. It’s amazing that so many of the parts on that newer truck resemble the ones on my ‘78 FJ40.
Thanks for the info your the only one that showed all the by pass hoses, thanks to you I can replace all my coolant hoses for my 2007 Tacoma.
HEY FAYE!!!!!! loving you here in tacoma washingtpn....love all your videos.
Nice camera and editing tricks!!! This video has great pacing and excellent editing! Ya keep hitting home runs!!! Keep up the great work!!! ❤
Oh my goodness thank you!! It was SO tricky to film, it slowed the job down tenfold 😆

Ahhh YAAAYY!!!!!!! 😄👏🏻
i like the boltster mat for putting bolts in where you could arrange them where they were on a part in case they are different sizes.
This is their oldest model too, they have a new version with different size holes that I love!
is it in your amazon store ?@@FayeHadley

Having that work done at a dealership will cost as much as the vehicle is worth.
it will be expensive but a new 4Runner is $60,000. Why does yours need a head gasket?
I would just like to say I love your posts. You are a breath of fresh air. All the best from rainy England.
