Did I just watch a whole video on a vehicle I don't own, for a job I've already done on my '04 Taco? Yes I did. Your videos are that good. Also picked up a tip or two (spark plugs), and links to new tools! Cheers.
Beautiful work Faye; esp the attention to detail. One tip: when removing the filler funnel, squeeze the upper rad hose a little to force a little fluid back, then plug the funnel. You won't spill a drop! Thanks for all your guidance!
Hey Faye, an old Cadillac dealer tech new to your channel here. I find your enthusiasm for our trade very refreshing, great video and keep up the good work.!
I love watching your videos! Makes me want to buy a Toyota and follow along! 😹🖤 Love your energy and determination too, makes wanting to learn about cars more fun!
thank you for showing those tools, it really makes doing the wrk a breeze rather than fighting with it. Those tough metal clips are a nightmare with regular pliers, especially at awkward angles
I don't own a Tacoma ( sad ).......but I enjoy watching you work and listen to your bright and perky personality. Nice to see the girls cooling off with some watermelon. A friend of mine works on my 2002 Caravan....I'm too old to do so anymore. When something major is being done I'll try to find someone doing that same work on you tube so I don't walk into his shop unprepared. Nice to see Brandon's cameo appearance.
I was devastated when I broke the plastic trim clips on my Toyota. Then I went to the Napa warehouse and I bought 500 sorted body and trim clips for Toyota and Honda for $25. I didn't know that they sold those. I thought that I could only buy them from a Dealership.
Just recently made the upgrade to the CSF radiator on my 05 Tacoma! Wish I wouldn’t have beat you to the job! Your tutorial definitely would have helped with some of the issues I ran into! Love your tutorials as always!
Wow genuine TRD superchargers are discontinued and hard to find. Very rare. I would like to see you do the instal of the charger. The dealer wants $2000.00 for an install.
Hey Faye, excellent tutorial the way you break it down, making what can be conceived as a daunting task much much more doable for even a so so backyard mechanic. Hopefully it cools down soon that’s pretty hot. Stay cool and have a great one.🐔🐔🐔👍
Another great vid Faye!!! Best laugh on YT by far!!!! My nephew finished his automotive tech school last month, he got a job at a local toyota dealership. He is loving it. My daughter wants to go the milirary to be a Flight mechanic. Im super proud of both, you are one of her idols, she loves watching all your vids and show on tv!!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Came here after watching the thermostat video, which was really good. That new radiator looks really rad. I’m still using the original one from ~30y ago, but it’s copper and brass rather than plastic and aluminium. I’ve had it re-cored and upgraded to a three-layer core (from two). I’m sure your new rad, rad will last forever. Timmy the Toolman suggested a set of silicone plus and caps for hoses and fittings etc. I’ve found these invaluable. Great work, Faye!
Great work as always! I love that even though you are doing multiple things in this video that you created separate videos for each of those things so as to allow your viewers to watch only the content that pertains to their needs! Incredibly thoughtful and it really shows that you know how to run your business!
Oh my gosh, thank you very much! And let me tell ya, it takes a LOT more time and editing to do it that way, so I really appreciate your feedback!! :))
Just bought a CSF all aluminum for my JK. The original only lasted 100k but that’s what you get with a jeep. Feel better about the CSF brand seeing you install one in a Tacoma.
Thank you thank you,so much. I have to change mines on my 2005 Tacoma for the first time after almost 19 years. You give folks the confidence to tackle tasks like these 👍🏽🥳👍🏽
I watched mainly for entertainment purposes, and heaven knows what that says about me, but it's also nice to keep these things fresh in my mind in case I need to banish an uncooperative radiator one day. 😊
This video is totally RAD! You certainly bet to the CORE of things. And those Corbin clamps, and the Christmas tree plugs, make me LOOSE MY COOL. I hate those... Ha ha, I'm full of jokes this evening 🤣. This is definitely a job you can't rush, especially because you're like me, things get misplaced and lost. Hey, we have that same exact same funnel! They really are amazing. No more faffing about with keeping the funnel upright as you pour. I have to laugh though at the disclaimer printed on ours, about not forgetting to take the plug out before the system pressurizes. I can just picture that scene **POP, as it shoots up like the Saturn 5 rocket* **SMASH, as it takes out a light, sending glass showering down** 🤣. All these jokes aside, great job as always.
Another superb video can't wait for the related videos to come out. I dig when you do tacoma gen two stuff, makes me want to work on mine. Quick question if i may... how do you stay so calm when you work on your Tacoma? I get Tacoma Frustration at times and i have to take an extra day or two to get it done.
Well, for starters I set aside time for filming when the truck, or other vehicle isn't needed so I don't have a huge time stresser. I see small reasonable goals for myself, "I'm going to get this done before lunch" or "I'm going to get to this point by the end of the day" so I have little victories to celebrate throughout the process. And when I'm filming, I DO take a lot of time to get it done! In this case, this job with all the extras would have been half a day. Instead with filming it, it was 3 days, and then 2 weeks of evening editing. And the camera angles were really difficult, and I did get frustrated!! When I was editing I heard myself cursing the camera for losing focus, and yelling at it when it fell out of position!! But really I mostly just feel grateful that I get to work on it, or any vehicle for that matter, because it was such a struggle to get to this point. I still remember working a different job and dreaming of being here and having mechanic skill and know how. So that helps, too. But I hear you. It isn't always fun or easy, and I definitely get frustrated too.
@FayeHadley thank you Faye for taking the time to write that and actually answering. I really do appreciate you and the knowledge you share in all of your videos. You are a treasure. Thank you again. 😊
nice work Faye 🤙 I'm jealous when I hear these mileages on vehicles still going strong I've no luck with cars, my last daily driver ford went kaput at 110k miles, and my newish Mazda diesel ate the turbos at 51k miles 😅 trusty old Toyota still going strong though 😈
Not to brag but I am proud. We have a 2002 tacoma bought it new for my wife. She has over 500.000 miles on it and still going. Everything still works great. EVERYTHING We are huge fans of yours. Between the 2 of us we do our own maintenance, referring to your videos constantly. (WE LOVE YA ❤)
This no t about the video, but I've had to replace my alternator a couple times already, and now I have to replace it again...ugh,I've also bought 6 new batteries for my Honda odyssey,I really think it's something electrical but every time I've had it looked at,I've been told they can't find anything wrong with it,any ideas on what it could be?
Thank you!! And thanks for asking. She is still really suffering, but pushing through. She is such a trooper. Her energy is really low, and her eyes are still swollen and dark. I feel for her so much. She is such an incredible person :(
Faye, do you recommend an additional trans cooler for 4x4ing not necessarily towing? I have a 23 TRD Pro Tacoma w/ towing package but noticed I don’t have the external trans cooler…(not sure why) but I see here, you say that there is an internal cooler…is that sufficient or should I install an external cooler?
Great question. If you take a look at the end of this video, when I have the grill off, you can see the additional transmission cooler that this truck has for exactly that purpose. Is it totally necessary? That depends. You certainly don't want the fluid too cold either, that also causes issues. I'd start by monitoring the transmission fluid temperatures during normal driving as well as when towing and see what the difference is. Toyota does seem to be overkill in the cooling department for the TRD models. You can monitor transmission fluid temperature with a scan tool that you plug into the OBD2 port. There are even some Bluetooth models that hook up to your phone! One thing I would be sure to do though if you tow often is exchange the fluid at 60k and every 60k miles !!
Great video, except I ordered your link for the power bleeder ? Should it be a power filler? Got to the point of filling the trans opened the box and was perplexed to see it only bleeds and not fills?
Also, something you can domif ots goinf tonget some harder use us replace the hoses with a steel braided PTFE -AN line setup. Way more robust than standard rubber.
Hey Faye, havent seen danny in a hot minute but if you could let him know i sent him a couple things off the cnc water jet for being so helpful when i ask questions, that would be awesome!
Hy Fay, need advice. I have an '85 MR2, I want to switch to a better more modern coolant, what is the best option using factory system Or what will be the best option if I switch to a more modern radiator with Toyota's new electronic water pumps for compatible metals Bonus if there's a Toyota coolant that is track approved in tracks that require it, my system is flushed & heater core is removed, integrated oil cooler is still part of the factory system IDK what metal that is made of, outside is plastic though
Definately no impact for re-installation of any covers, I remember people who used to use a impact gun for even the smallest bolts holding tiny covers on into weak threads, they broke everything. If a steady speed of getting jobs done as with most busy shop environments is of the essence , a cordless battery powered driver with just a tiny bit of finger pressure so it doesn't apply too much torque, just don't let it go on hammer , nipped up is all that's needed for plastic covers
Vacuum is not measured in PSI. It is measured in Inches of Mercury. Just FYI. I have an air lift as well and won't fill coolant with anything else anymore.
Do people actually watch this channel and not have tools? The beginning ofthis video seemed so mundane. If I was watching something like a doctor performing a surgery, then him explaning what stuff was needed would be understandable. But then why would i be watching videos of surgery? I watch car channels. So it would be safe to assume i have some knowledge of tools and well, cars in general. This is just my 2 cents. I mean no offense. Just wondering if anyone actually cared for her " tools needed" list. Maybe if it was specialty tools. But explaning what wratchet and socket i would need just seems pointless.
Yes - a LOT of time! Thank you so much for the kind comment. It took about 2 weeks of editing to get this one done - that's a lot of "free time" no longer free. Y'all enjoying and benefiting from them makes it all worth it and brings a huge smile to my face!!
