Lovely cakes, especially Alexa's! I love these toppers though I'm not sure when I would use one but I know where to find them if I need one! I suppose, depending on the cake, it could be laid flat on top if it was last minute (which I usually end up!) but it wouldn't be so eye catching. Thanks for all your videos. I love the way you never assume we all know how to do any action but explain it so well all through. Even if we are 'old hands' at Design Space it never hurts to refresh our minds, especially if you have a FORGETTORY instead of a memory as I have!

Oh boy! I need to make a bunch of these for my mom. She makes birthday cakes for all of her friends and family, but her decorating skills aren’t quite as good as the delicious cakes. The toppers are around 9", Martina, and the maximum cutting width of a Joy is 4.5". So you could not cut the entire pattern. But there are ways around this! I’m a slow learner. So do you set the cutting material for the glitter paper before you start cutting the regular card stock or do you cut the 3 card stock shapes and then select the glitter material to make the name at the end

Help!! I have a cricut 2 and it will not cut all the way thru GLITTER CARDSTOCK. I have tried all 3 settings, different mats and the fine point blade and I know it cuts twice.. but when I make a double image and flip it..the first image cuts fine then to the flipped one and only cuts the top layer, I then have to use my x-acto to cut it all the way thru..I get so frustrated I am almost in tears! I even bought a new fine point and still wont cut thru! What am I doing wrong? Thanks.. I love your videos too!!
I had a glitter card stock that was very hard to cut through. I did several test cuts and I do not remember what setting finally worked for it. Maybe you had the same type like mine! Can you please explain Why everytime I upload an image the upload type for cut image is always grey not in color? There is a cut and print (in color) but that's not what a want. I want to make have a killer birthday topper with a knife on it but the knife wont upload in color :(
I'm assuming you meant cardstock, Lisa! 😉 You can use whatever cardstock you have on hand! 80# is good because it's stiffer - 65# MIGHT be a little floppy, but it might be just fine, or you could also cut two of them if you think it's too thin! Selecting colors for individual image layers not only helps you visualize your final project, but also determines how images are laid out on the cutting mats. Images are separated and placed on the mats based on color; layers with the same color are positioned on the same mats. :)

Love the idea of this Jennifer but i am having trouble with the .svg file. It wont upload to cricut as the type of file is not recognised. the file extension seems to be microsoft edgehtml not svg. What am i doing wrong please? Thanks
HTML is an SVG. That happens with windows sometimes. This happens because your computer wants to open the SVG file as a web browser file instead of an image file for the simple fact that SVG images actually ARE web files. You can google it to find out more information on it. 😊
I want to make a cake topper for my husbands birthday on the 19th I bought 2 pieces of gold called kings crown. I dont know what weight it is and a piece of adhesive gold glitter paper yikes! Im guessing I should use the kings crown for the wreath and the adhesive paper for the sentiment?

I may be the only silhouette user here lol because I've read through the comments searching for answer to no avail. I downloaded your cake topper design (thank you so much btw) and when I open it in silhouette studio, it doesn't come apart like you showed using a cricut, which of course may be the problem. Each little piece is separate and stacked together instead of 2 wreaths and a ring. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it just not completley compatible with silhouette (cameo 3)? You can set each cut with a different material before it cuts when you are in the make it screen.

You can use almost any kind of paper. I love recollections 65 lb. cardstock.

Good point. You would have to connect it to another letter or even to it's own letter. Look at how I made Make A Wish. ❤️

You can change the color of the knife once it uploads.🥰
Can you use a different weight yardstick like 65? I think yours was 80? Also, is the regular blade ok?

Make sure you are using the green standard grip mat. Also use your spatula to gently remove the paper from the mat. 💕

Just wondering, without cutting the wreath twice. Couldn't we use the higher GSM for the paper. Like a 250/300 gsm.

I may be the only silhouette user here lol because I've read through the comments searching for answer to no avail.
I downloaded your cake topper design (thank you so much btw) and when I open it in silhouette studio, it doesn't come apart like you showed using a cricut, which of course may be the problem. Each little piece is separate and stacked together instead of 2 wreaths and a ring. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it just not completley compatible with silhouette (cameo 3)?
