Windows UWP made an update. Instead of saying copy there is two squares below the letter that is selected. When you hover over it, it'll say "copy to clipboard." Select that. Once you select that you can go into Cricut Design Space. Highlight over the letter you want changed and select Ctrl + V. Design Space won't let you right click on your mouse anymore but you can use your hot keys.

If you are having trouble highlighting and pasting the character glyph, try highlighting and typing Ctrl V or command V on your keyboard and that should work!
I tried both the highlight/ right click and highlight ctrl V and neither is working...have windows computer. HELP! lol

Hey all! (Windows users) For those of you struggling to get the font to paste to Cricut Design space from Character Map this is for you. Make sure your font is set to the font your trying to copy and paste out of character map to Design Space. If it is not set to that font it will not paste it correctly in cricut design space. Hope this helps!

So I downloaded this program to my windows pc. First off, it doesn't look like the video pic. Second I can't get any of the letters to copy to cricut design space. Anyone have any advice?

Same here. The program looks different. There is a button to be able to copy the character but when done so it will not even right click in the text to bring up the little menu to paste.

I tried following the steps you said however because there is an update it’s very different. I was trying to figure it and went back to your video. I noticed that you spoke about the update in your description box and even though I tried that, it still did not work for me. When I press to paste, the image that shows up is a little floppy disk. The only way I was able to make this work for me was actually to save the image of the letter I want. You can save as a PNG or SVG. From there, go into Cricut Space and click on upload so you can upload your image. All you have to do after is size it and attach it to the rest of your letters. It was a hassle and it took me over an hour to figure and fix it but I got it.

Hello, I just came across your tutorial and I bought the Samantha font bc I loved the swashes and I can't pull them up. When I go into my character map it just shows boxes. Can you please help!

I tried using 5he hotkeys but I'm getting a blank square box in the text box and in the space where the word should be there is a black diamond with a white "?" In it. Idk what to do ive tried everything
I finally figured it out. Make sure the font you're trying to paste is selected as the text being used in design space in your text box.

I was wondering why I couldn’t copy paste a letter within a word and this was Cricut’s response, for those who may be interested...,
You can't paste letters in Design Space.
It's not that the feature was removed, it's just that it only worked on the web version of Design Space.
Unless you wanted to use the web version while that was still active, then you won't be able to paste letters.
You would only be able to change individual letters by ungrouping them.
I will submit feedback about that so hopefully, it is added to the desktop version in the future.
I do not know when or if that feature would be added.
Ty for posting this, I was going crazy trying to figure this out! Hopefully they will tweak it to let us paste into the program soon!

Great walk through. Please may I make a suggestion. When repositioning the individual letters either use the left and right cursor keys or hold down shift while you drag the letters. This keeps their vertical position exactly what it should be for the embellishments to line up. Clearly there may be occasions when, artistically, you want to alter the vertical positioning.

Before you purchase the Samantha Upright font, go to Google and search for coupon. I got mine for $14.95. Good luck.

I’m not a pc gal, but, when “things” don’t work for me on my Mac, my ‘puter whisperer usually tells me it’s time to either “refresh” (shut it off & back on), or that there may be an update to the system “out there” I have to load in.

This is super helpful! I discovered while following along that you can select all the letters you want from the Character Map and then paste the whole word into your project space (you do need to have a textbox already open, though)! Saved a little time and work.
I never thought of using character maps to do this kind of stuff! The one thing is, you have to have a font with this many different characters to actually have this work; the fonts downloadable for free don’t normally have too many of these options, and if there are, there are normally guides you get in the file download that show you how to get them to come up. Just putting that out there for the rest of y’all crafty ladies
That is to suggest you are going to keep those guides handy and all of the random codes readily available per flourish, vs. being able to copy and paste out of this much more handy app that I didn't know existed before this helpful video. Actually a good percentage of the free fonts have flourishes.
I cannot get my font to paste. I follow your instructions, and nothing happens. The paste option isn't even available. What am I doing wrong?

I have tried everything I have read in the comments to make this work. If I ungroup and ctrl v it just adds multiple of the letter I am trying to replace but with the original font. If I leave it grouped it either does nothing or it replaces the letter with a v. Please help! I'm in the middle of a project

I am trying this, and i have the correct version of character map downloaded, and i have copied the letter i need, but when I go to design space and double click on my word and highlight the letter and right click, nothing comes up.

Ok I got it copied, but now it won't paste when I go back, high light, right click and hit paste. I'm frustrated 😞

hello! so i am working with the hello font right now, and when I highlight the first letter"m" and press CTRL V, the m disappears and is replaced with the box. please send help!
The box is ok, the actual letter does show up in design space (The box is just in the "text box"

@@CountryChevroletGirl I noticed a lot of people having issues transferring from the character map into design space. I was able to do it with Ctrl + Shift + V. I hope this helps !!!
i also did notice that in design space you so have to have that font selected also in order for it to work lol noticed that after the fact.

Okay I've been following along but can't get it to paste the new letter. How do I set that up my right panel looks different than yours
Mine does too.
Nothing I did worked until I found this other youtuber name Julie Flanagan. She has a step by step on how to download the font and use it on Design Space. She actually shows you how you need to alter some settings in order to get it working. I followed what she said it it worked perfectly. Hope thos helps.

Ok I figured it out!! My computer is about 10 years old so I’m guess that’s why I’m having a problem. Control V only put a black box with a question mark in it. My right click wouldn’t work in character map either. When you’re in character map, CLICK on the letter you want, it shows up in the box on the side, and also in a box below all the characters. In the box below there is a copy button, click on that, then go to design space, highlight and do control V. I know it sounds confusing. If you need a picture, email me and I’ll send you a picture 😁😁😁

I have downoaded the app, but I can't seem to be able to access the special curly letters. They look just like the Design Space preview.
Help! I have copied the character from the character map and I can highlight the character in the text box but do not have the option to paste. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I am using the new design space which is the app downloaded on my windows laptop rather than the web version.

Since installing the Character Map, when I download a new font, it becomes a Character Map file instead of installing it into fonts. Anyone else experience that?

Janet Menchyk Viviana Anderson hi! Did you download the new offline version of Cricut design space? I realized it wasn’t working for me either so I typed in design.cricut.com on my web browser and went into Cricut design space that way and it worked! Hopefully that’ll work for you. The Samantha craft should work the same. I know the offline version is still in beta mode so hopefully once it’s completely rolled out it’ll work on there.

I have a Cricut Air 2, watched your video, purchased the Samantha Script font ($17), downloaded the ap for Character Map UWP, followed your instructions but when I copy the font from the Character Map Ap, it will not right click to paste into the cricut text. The only 'copy' feature I can use in the Char Map Ap is 'copy to clipboard'; but it will not paste into cricut. Any suggestions?
I need help! I downloaded the character map so that's fine, but in CRICUT DESIGN SPACE at some point it changed and now my text doesn't look like yours above, it shows up as a grey box that says "text" in the chosen font, and when I double click it it just shows up with a box around it with a blinking cursor.

Hi Kayla - I'm a newbie and love the explanation of everything - I totally understood it ! However, I "copy" the new character map i downloaded from microsoft - it does actually show that I have "copied", but when I jump over to Cricut - it doesn't even allow me to "paste" anything ? Hi there, I'm having trouble with using Character Map and the Bertila font that I downloaded. When I choose a Stylistic Set 1 which is similar to what you're using, the enhanced looking font it won't let me copy. It says that I can't copy the variations of this font and can only copy the default font. Any suggestions? Why can't I use all variations of the fonts in Character Map? Thanks!

I’m trying so hard to copy and paste, but when I go into design space, right clicking is not working? Any tips? I’m using the UWP like you said in the video and I have Windows 10. Could it be the font I’m using? I’m using the Glisten font. It’s all in there. It all looks the same, it just wont right click and paste in design space.
