Thank you so much for watching! Yes, cake toppers are super easy to make with the Cricut! I love supporting Etsy shops but one of the perks of investing in a Cricut machine is that you can make all of these things yourself!
I've been too chicken to even open my cricut maker that arrived this morning because I have absolutely no idea how it works, but this finally gave me a bit of confidence!
Wow! I did not know you can use that type of cardstock for those projects. I was thinking of doing this for my upcoming event and wanted to make my own cake topper. Thanks for this!
So cute!! I did find that the blue light grip mat is working a lot better for my toppers & stencils! I had always used the green original mat before and it was hard to get off too.
New subscriber ‼️ also new to the whole cricut thing I just purchased my new cricut air explore 2 about two days ago I'm a beginner so this video was very helpful !!! ♥️♥️
I've been searching for a good video to learn how to do this particular craft! This was awesome! Thank you so much!! Looking forward to viewing your other videos. :)
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching! Please let me know if there are any other craft tutorials you've been looking for. I'm always looking for video suggestions.
Love your tutorial so beginner friendly ❤ will be making cake toppers for a friend for the first time. So excited! 😆 I read some comments and you said they took down Quirky font on design space. Is there any other you recommend that is similar? Thank you so much! Hope to hear from you soon 😊 Now a new follower! 🥰
What if you wanted the back of the cut out to match the gold paper facing forward - would you cut the words again in the gold cardstock as reverse/mirror so you wouldn't have the back just plain white and glue back-to-back the 2 pieces? TY Rachel M.
Yes, you could just mirror the image and glue the two pieces together with the stick in the middle. Or you could spray paint the back, which is what I do from time to time. It’s extremely difficult to get the two pieces of card stock to line up perfectly, which is why I don’t typically make my cake toppers double sided.
Wow!!! This was so interesting to watch! And what a creative way to add letter by letter! You can use this technique in many virtual projects, so thank youuuuuu for sharing this tip! You’re cake roper is adorable 😍
Thank You So Much i Just Got my Cricut maker i was so lost this was the most easiest Diy video not to complicated to follow !! You Got a New subbie !!!
Hi Cathrine, unfortunately Cricut recently removed the quirky script font from Cricut design space. I’m working on finding a replacement. I will message you here on this comment thread once I find one.
Can you cut two metallic sheets? One for the front and one to cover the back? I don’t care for the white on the back…Turn one sheet backwards or white side up when loading the machine…? Thanks…🌷
Hello I created my own cake topper but It says I have to pay when the font said it was free any idea what can I do? And thank you so much I learned how to weld & cut thanks to you.
Hi! I use the glitter card stock setting and I select the more pressure option on the “make it” page. I’m working on a new video that will show all my settings.
Thank you! I would definitely recommend getting one!!I have the “Cricut explore air 2” and it’s perfect for what I use it for. The new “Cricut maker” is great if you work with material because it has a rotary blade, it’s just a little more expensive. As for the Cricut Cake, I’ve never used one but it’s definitely on my wish list!! If you end up getting one let me know if you have any questions! I love talking Cricut 😊
I made a few centerpieces for someone yesterday and one side is floppy. Is it not evened out enough? I've just now come across your video. We made them work for their party today but I want to offer them in the future. I'm sure I used similar paper. It's a large piece from Hobby Lobby. I used the poster board setting but it was too much but I used it anyways. I have Explore One.
Yes, the cheapest one will be able to create this. Honestly, there isn’t much of a difference between machines unless you’re wanting to cut material. If you want to cut material you’ll have to get the maker. Hope this helps.
Considering doing this for my daughter’s wedding cake. Do you ever print the design in reverse to attach to the backside so it will be double-sided? I would like to have glitter on both sides.
Hi Jenny! Yes, I've made the design is reverse to make it double sided. This works best if you choose a thick font. For thiner font designs, I've actually spray painted the backs so they weren't just plan white. The gold spray paint I use is called "Krylon Short Cuts", it matches the Michael's Recollections gold glitter paper really well. Good luck with your cake topper and wedding planning!!
My biggest concern was the choice of card stock. I ordered based on another’s video and it was super thin.. but says 65lb 😩 going to stop by Michael’s today and pray that their brand is like yours! Awesome video by the way ❤️ thank you!
Hi! Were you able to find the recollections brand of card stock at your Michaels? It's the only brand I'll use for cake toppers, everything else is too thin.
Thank you! Here is the exact one I use daily amzn.to/2XxIOKe. I also have the Cricut explorer. I don't notice a difference in the cutting quality between the explorer and maker but the maker is able to cut more material types, which is a huge plus.
Hi there - such an easy tutorial to follow! Do we have to purchase the quirky font?... is there anyway around this as it's saying $4.99 when I press 'make it'.
+138tc Hi! Thanks for watching! The Quirky Script is a Cricut Design Space font. I believe it’s “free” is you have the $9.99 monthly subscription. I’m going to see if I can find a dupe, that’s free.
Hi! I use the standard blade but I select glitter cardstock. The regular cardstock setting won’t completely cut through the thinker cardstocks. You could also try increasing the pressure to more. You can find the pressure setting on the cut page.
I can not find "quirky font" anywhere! When I type it in while in Cricut Design Space, it is not found & when I google it, several quirky fonts come up, but none of them are titled "quirky font."
Hi! My Cricut explorer air came with a green mat which is the standard grip and my Cricut maker came with a pink and blue mat which are fabric and light grip mats. When it comes to glitter paper projects, the green mat is my favorite.
Hi. I tried this with the same Recollections paper from Michaels and the paper stuck to the standard mat and ripped the cardstock. I also used the spatula and it did not want to come up and ripped as well. Any helpful hints?
Hi! I’m sorry that happened! This sometimes happens with new mats and it’s so frustrating. I always use a microfiber towel on my new mats to reduce the stickiness. I just lay the towel down on the mat, press down a little and pull it off 3 or 4 times. Also when you pull the paper off of a new mat, try bending the mat to remove the paper instead of pulling the paper off the mat. I hope that makes sense.
Hi! It's called a Cricut machine. Here is my affiliate link to the products...shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=567915&u=1845123&m=51766&urllink=&afftrack= Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hi, you can edit the text in the mobile Cricut design space app, but you would then have to cut it using a Cricut machine. Unless your print shop has a Cricut machine, that would not work. I hope that’s helpful.
Hi! I’m using the Cricut Air explorer 2 in this video and I LOVE it. I just recently purchased the Cricut maker, but it’s still in the box 😬. I plan to do a comparison video soon!
Straight and to the point w/ no unnecessary fluff. Thank you ma'am! 💪🏽
This tutorial is simple enough to not intimidate a newbie. Thanks!
Yay! I’m so glad it was helpful! Welcome to Cricut!
Thanks. I had a feeling it wasn't hard to do. Now i can do my own from now on and don't need to order from Etsy! 😉

@@SprinkledwithPaper Yes! I agree!
@@SprinkledwithPaper Does the machine come with a graphics program to install or do you have to find one yourself.
It comes with Cricut Design Space that has 1000’s of designs but you could also make your own or purchase them for sites like Etsy.
Can we use this sheet in resin or not can you share the link plz
Thanks for sharing. I love how detailed this video is without too much additional info.
