I have had a 6.5 Grendel AR since March of 2017. Such an amazing round. It’s always a hit at the range. I love the way it whacks steel at distance while barely feeling like more than a 5.56 in terms of recoil/controllability.
Love the grendel. 435yd one shot drop on a nice North Dakota doe this season, 123 SST , rain and 25mph half value wind. My son was spotting with his Browning 30.06 and told me that would be a tough shot and bet me a beer. Know your dope and practice practice practice, I only hunt with two rifles 6.5 and 458socom all the rest sit in the guncase as lenders.
I'm at awe after watching such accuracy from that rifle. It's expensive but if you can afford it, it's well worth the investment. I must say that you continue to impress me with your shooting skills. I really enjoy your videos and now I want to get me a 6.5 upper of course at a lesser scale. Thanks again for sharing these videos and make our lives more enjoyable during this seclusion time.
Thanks Antonio and I appreciate your comments. It is amazing how big of a difference there was between the two different ammo choices. Have a great week sir.
Don’t forget the like button and to share the video it all plays into the algorithm. Nice shooting Ray I look forward to seeing more of the tuning and equipment you put onto this for competition.
That L15 looks sharp, that swappable magwell is awesome. As usual that was great shooting brother, and thanks for the entertainment as I am in federal timeout. :)
That is one impressive Rifle. It really is a great time for AR's with endless options. Only problem is affording everything you want. Thanks for the video XRing.
Wow Ray! So glad to see you playing with a Grendel. I have one with a 20" Odim works barrel. Mine shot exactly like your with Hornady black. I was pressed for time with hunting season last year and found a good load with nosler ballistic tips and I took a pretty 9point buck. It's shooting a 3/4" group at 100 with IMR xbr. I just ordered 2 boxes of the federal match like you had. If it shoots in mine I'll try to work up a load. Please, please keep us updated on the load that you come up with. Thanks so much for the videos!
I love my grendel build. Mine shoots 1/2 MOA with the Hornady Black ammo. I think I'll have to try that Federal gold ammo now and see how it does in my rifle.
RZE Unimag is hands down the best magazine for feeding Grendel. They're designed to work with damn near anything that you can chamber an AR in. Never had an issue out of the two I have with Wolf steel case or Hornady brass in over 1000 rounds
Nice seeing T-box get some love I have two of their barrels one in 6.5g and one in 6arc both shoot under 1/2MOA consistently. They are THEE barrel when it comes to the grendel IMO.
Smoking groups with that Federal ammo! I remember reading an article comparing 6.5Grendel, 6.8SPC and 7.62x51 with loads for the Grendel being 108, 123 and 140 grain Lapuas. 123 seemed the best compromise between bullet weight and velocity. All outperformed the SPC by quite a margin at ranges above 400m.
Happened upon this while browsing your videos. My 6.5 Grendel HATES any of the Hornady ammo. It does great with the Alexander Arms and the Federal (event the 90 grain).
Those Berger 130 grain open tip match in a federal gold medal match is what my Tikka in 6.5 creedmoor likes. I get 1/2 moa all day long with them. Looks like a good setup Ray.
Thx for your Vlogs, absolutely love your rifle vlogs(AI fan). I would not be able to see/try the rifles here in Denmark 🇩🇰 the import taxes and 25% VAT here in Denmark would make it crazy expensive to get here, so appreciate all your testing and explaining around the rifles. 👍🏻
6.5 Grendel was my 2nd AR and the 1st AR15 I built and it's my favorite AR15 round. The 6.5 Grendel and 6.5 Creedmoor are my favorite round for 1200 yards and beyond right now.Thev6.5 Grendel out does the 224 Valkyrie contrary to what Pew Pew writes when both used 90 grain Valkyrie and 100 grain Grendel... I was using Hornady Black and had better results with Hornady Custom 123 SST. NOW this will blow you hat off.Ive had just as good of results at 800 yards with Wolf 100 rain FMJ at $5.00 a box.

What a sweet rifle. The grouping on the federal is tight. Would love to see how it does to a 1000 yard or more. Thanks Ray.
Thanks Joaquin. I think 700 is all I am going to be able to do for a little while.
Its only a 100 grain bullet. Doesn't have a 270 shell case behind it.

6.5 Grendel - now that would make an IDEAL ultralight sporting rifle caliber - like one of my faves.. the .257 Roberts. Elegant little devil...

Did you mean to say 6.8 or 6.5 at the 4:40 mark on the video?
Hey 45 Auto. Apparently there is some cross compatibility with 6.8 and 6.5 mags. I was told the 6.8 work in many guns. I guess it’s worth trying.
Any plans to work up hand loads for the 6.5 G. ?
For sure, needed to get some brass first. Just shot it yesterday.
@@XRING I only asked because the factory Federal load performed so well, but I figured you would . LOL!
that 7 1/2 twist is definitely not for those light bullets.
looked up those barrels and damn lol but with accuracy comes cost
Is that an app on your phone at the very end that shows your shot group?
Yes, it’s a free app called Sub Moa. Works well but not so intuitive
@@XRING Thank you sir
Finally....
Thanks nycdrummer. More Grendel on the way soon!
X-RING thank you 🙏🏼 for responding. I’m building a 6.5 Grendel with a 18 Dracos barrel. By any chance do you have any experience with them. ?
What size is that barrel. ?
Would like to see it out to 1000 yds.
I might have to settle for 700 in the meantime. No time or desire to head into SC at the moment.
What is your barrel length?
20"
