You're so right about gaming being better than mindless scrolling. The internet has become so distracting that I actually have to make a conscious effort to make time for gaming. Playing games helps my mind to focus on one thing instead of being scattered all over the place.
Absolutely loved this. I appreciate you touching on the guilt that can be saddled on gaming time. I feel so much better after 30-45 mins of gaming than scrolling social media or watching TV so to me it’s time well spent
When sony psp came with ad hoc and plethora of coop games. I thought this is it the future of gaming, portable where me and my friends would come to each other houses and play monster hunter.
I feel like handheld gaming should become a focus for evolution in the industry now. With the switch I was shown promise of games like kingdom hearts on the go. Steam deck allows Halo on the go. The day a handheld lets me play something like final fantasy 7 rebirth on the go......peak gaming. Oh my goodness, I just thought. Bloodborne on the go 😍.
I love my modded psp. PSP had so many good games that changed my life. And also being able to play other handheld systems on it and then some is a massive win. Legitimate battery replacements that last a long time are easy to come by too.
I remember when I was a kid, on the weekends I would go under the dining room table and play my ds all day after i finished my chores. It just felt so relaxing to me at the time.
I agree wholeheartedly! I'm not going to post the wall of text I initially typed out due to overwhelming nostalgia but instead just going to say this was a great video and I look forward to your future videos.
I was trying to explain to my wife why I loved my 2D switch games and I'm not interested in big tripple A titles. I mever had a really good childhood growing up so when my cousin gave ne his game oy color with Pokemon Blue cause he was going away for school I cherished possesion. I saved up my money to get a game boy advance selling fruits and pushing carts on the weekends. I'll send this video to her so she could understand. I started with the gameboy color. My switch is one of my favorite possesions. Game on Brother I feel the same way.
@@gazaalley3862 love the story dude! Watching my big brother play Pokémon yellow everyday after school is a cherished memory. Both of us glued to that 2 inch non backlit screen😂
I'm 16, went to Georgia with my family this summer. We had a 2 hour delay while seated in the plane, so WiFi/Mobile network was a no-go. I played some Prof. Layton and the curious village on my DSlite with my little sister. Great time.
I'm 36 years, and I just simply love handhelds. My first GB was when I was 7 years old. And yes, being a parent sneaking in a small sesh is always welcome.
I’m in grad school rn and I feel exactly like how you did back in college every time I sit down to play games. But it not being time wasted is such a good way to look at this, like how much can a person grind? Got to enjoy some of that time too! Thanks!
I owned a Game Boy SP as a child and loved every minute using the system.. as an adult I rebought a red SP System along with some of my favorite games I played (Metroid Fusion, Yu Yu Hakusho Tournament Tactics, TMNT by Konami, DBZ Legacy of Goku 1&2 plus other more obscure games).. still one of the best handheld systems imo.
@@HandheldHorizon that's great news. I kick myself thinking how I gave up all my older consoles including OG Xbox and PlayStation lol nowadays I try to own and appreciate what I do have 🙂
I've loved handheld gaming since the game boy pocket but it was the gba sp and Psp that solidified my love for handhelds there's just something nice about being able to relax in bed playing some games Nowadays i rotate between my "new" 3Ds XL, PS Vita and Nintendo switch :)
I’ve been playing on my 3ds for years I was early adopter when I was like a 11 and I’ve been all the way to the present as I’m 22 I’ve since modded my 3ds learned to fix it when there’s issues but overall it’s been great
Great video! I’ve been working on putting my phone down and picking up a handheld instead. It always feels better to spend 30 minutes playing video games instead of scrolling through social media mindlessly lol
@@8bitbongohey there 8bitbongo! I enjoy your videos too! And yep, the difference is huge. I generally enjoy my time with a handheld wayyyy more than being on the smartphone. That is of course, unless I find a good TH-cam video to watch😉
I had to sell all my handhelds in college due to poor decisions leading to money crunch. I really wish I had kept my DKCA green SP. Nowadays I have several handhelds, a raspberry pi I shoved into an original Gameboy case, and a 2DS modded with every game. The 2DS is my favorite. I have no nostalgia for it, but it feels REAL in a way my emulation handhelds don't. I play about 30-60 minutes per day and it definitely helps me just enjoy everything else. I don't have fun with other things if I'm not sparking it with some gaming time, idk.
You've come up on my homepage (for the first time). Personally, I don't watch any video between 10 and 11ish minutes because they're normally just padded out to the 10min mark; often with a sponsor spot. I've clicked do not show, but just a suggestion for your future growth.
