@JURO768KUJO I did unfortunately get issues with both of the triggers and these issues were both within weeks of my purchase. The RT and LT both were making a loud sound with the spring. First the RT did so I opened up the Ally and I sprayed a bit of white lithium grease onto a fine paintbrush and lightly coated the area where the spring was. A few weeks later I had the same issue with the LT so I did the same. It seems to have done the trick as 2 months on and I am having no repeat issues. I'm not sure if doing this is recommended but personally for me it worked and I havnt encountered any problems. I also had a squeak on my d pad after a few weeks but that seems to have just resolved itself without me having to do anything. Of course it's not ideal that such an expensive device should encounter issues like this, but they seem to have been fixed without too much effort and I don't envisage them being an issue again now. The Ally x itself I'm still very impressed with and use regularly and would highly recommend it.
@@AndrewS-xk6fw okok, I'm really hesitating between the steam deck OLED and the rog Ally X rn, even though the ally x got a bad support and might get triggers issues i could lube it with keyboard lube as I so in a tutorial and it also have a better battery and crazy better performance than the steam deck even though it's an LCD screen so I might go with the ally x
Legion go massive screen and z1 extreme cannot be challenged. It's perfect for AAA games to emulation. The steam deck has a nice screen sure but we're all buying these for 1 reason GAMES and legion go handles it all.
absolutely great review! props for the graphics, really helped the realization of the results, I was between a Legion Go and a SD Oled, since ROG Ally X is not available in my country, helped me to realize that SD Oled is worth more than the legion go in bang for the buck here, thanks!
You should try the Rokid Max 1200p/120Hz/16:10 AR glasses. They work really well with all these handhelds, including the Steam Deck. They’re the best AR glasses out there, so far.
Windows 11 works on Steamdeck without any problems. It's not hard to install it, just like on normal PC. Of course, you can leave SteamOS also and use it in dual boot mode.
The production quality of this video was enough for me to suscribe and watch the whole thing from start to finish. Keep it up bro! Right now the YT Algorithm hasn't blessed the channel (1K Views in 4 hours isn't bad, but not quite there) Hopefully the YT AI bs starts doing it's magic soon, amazing video with top notch editing! I got Sdoled, rog ally x, and legion and i scored exactly the same thing you did. I put SD on top, ally x 2nd, and legion go 3rd. Dnt get me wrong, ally x is beast, but for my use case, i have to pick sd oled. Battery life, software, and especially the ergonomics checked all these boxes.
The Steam Deck sleep and resume is so nice. Microsoft badly needs to add that to windows. It wouldn’t make me buy a windows handheld, but I’d use it constantly on my gaming desktop.
I was thinking about the ally x because I don't have a PC or console, and I like to play online shooters while also being able to stream movies and sports, do you think it's the best bet for me?
That reasoning won't apply for everyone though. I have a gaming PC and I still went for the ROG Ally X. After all, my goal is to continue playing my games while on the go, with as few compromises as possible. (That, and access to Game Pass is a must for me)
Great video, good to see how much competition there is now. One thing I will say in defense of the LCD steam deck is that because it was the first and sold so many, it's easy to get a secondhand LCD steam deck for $250 or less, which to me, is an insane value.
@@vish7x out of those 2 I lean towards Ally X, but it could go either way. I do love the larger screen of the Go, but the native landscape screen of the Ally solves a lot of problems. Not to mention VRR and more RAM which really helps with smoothnesses in heavy games

Attaching external monitor, mouse, and keyboards is not issue for me. Should i get a steam deck instead of a laptop?
@lorenzothomas2612 The performance is pretty good, though it does lag the Alky X. Still, I'm happy with the trade-off of battery life and 6 or 7 frames fir that awesome screen. I'd definitely choose the Go again.
Thanks for the comparison. For me the fan noise is one of the most important factors. From those games you showed it looks like the Ally X is the most quiet, so I should grab that? SD oled seems to be running hot.
I’ve had an lcd steam deck for over a year now and I’m gonna get a legion go when it goes on sale again in Canada! Can’t wait to try out that screen and have a little more power for the more demanding AAA games .
I prefer the Legion Go and and think its currently the best handheld PC you can possibly get. The display is amazing and it's far more versatile and powerful compared to the Steamdeck
Yes I recently just bought my Ally X and I'm also an owner of the OLED steam deck. I love both but for my triple A games that will only be played my my Ally X and I'll be playing my Steam deck as my backlog system
I've had my Steam Deck (LCD) for awhile, maybe 3mo. after it came out. I didn't get it to play AAA games, but I've changed settings to play games like cyberpunk and it runs fine. The rest of the games available on Steam , especially indie games run like a champ. I get between 3-5hrs of game time and it's a no brainer when hooking it up to an external monitor/tv. For it's ease of use, the amount of entertainment I get for the cost -- I think the Steam Deck is the overall pick for casual gamers
IMO, using Linux on the steam deck was a really good choice. It’s harder to get accustomed to, sure, but the performance benefits plus the customization in the os is great.
I couldn’t play on my RTX 4070 gaming rig because recovering from major surgery so bed bound for a month decided to buy a Steam Deck Oled 1TB although very well made I didn’t like it very disappointed after reading so many positive reviews so sold it.
Quick question , what would you guys recommend as a 1st handheld console? I have a ps5 but that’s it. Now I’m considering the legion go, the ally x or a steam deck but I’m having a hard time choosing
@@davids1556 - no, but the Ally X is going to be plug-and-play compared to anything else. Ally X has more RAM, more battery, & better ergonomics than the Legion Go.
It all depends on what you're looking for in a handheld. I was looking for comfort, small text legibility and screen, and the Legion Go has that in spades. I'm absolutely in love with this thing. I love the Windows complatibility, and not only am I not bothered with it's un-console status, I very much enjoy finding 3rd party apps and workarounds to fully tailor it to my preferred experience, so the Steam Deck doesn't quite appeal to me. The Ally...the Ally is great, especially the X variant, but it lacks Hall Effect and a trackpad, which really helps in a pinch. Plus, a 7" doesn't quite cut it for me anymore, that 8.8" Go display needs to be seen to be believed, it's that good.
Very balanced and an awesome video . Completely agree with the ranking though i think the best screen belongs to legion go and then steam deck. The thing that stops me getting an ally x is the small screen. I bought the first ally and sold it only becaue of the screen.
You've made some really good points thank ya, im keeping my Steam Deck OG and wait til the next round of handhelds, def might lean into a legion go 2 if or when that gets announced, I just want to play more graphically intensive games, but I dont want a whole desktop
Ally X using Steam OS is king, but SD Oled is decent. Still need to go over the Chinese variants of this product category, they have some really good stuff.
Hey, I’m new to your channel but I didn’t want to say I enjoyed this video. I do want to add that maybe in the future update or review you should consider the windows handhelds when using a Linux distribution such as Bazzite and how that affects performance, battery life, and ease of use.
If you want to play AAA game with smooth fps and bigger battery pick rog ally x If you casual gamer playing 2D game and AAA game but with capped fps to 40 or lower pick steam deck oled Price : Steam Deck Oled $650 Rog Ally X $800
If you want the best all around buy the Legion Go. Bigger screen. Hands down the main thing. Who the fuck wants to keep playing on a 7 inch like the switch from 15 fucking years ago. OLED or not. QHD and windows for any other content wins hands down due to the larger screen.
Well playing shooter games and fighting games with legion go makes sense with the detachable controls. With asus rog ally x, if you want longer batter life.
I don’t have a gaming computer, or even a computer in general, but I want to buy either the Asus ROG Ally X or the Steam Deck Oled. Which one should I buy?
I had zero pc gaming experience and last year went with the Ally over the SD. I absolutely love my Ally and it got me back into gaming (I kinda lost interest). I would probably be happy with a SD, but I have no issues with the Ally. After you set it up the way you want it's just boot up and go.
I can see this! I went with a ROG Ally because I've had Linux before and just know I'd regret only having that and no windows. Especially with how much I love co-op / online play. Also on ROG Ally I can easily discord my friends / stream to them which is an amazing plus
@@blackastranyx6532 yes it is, honestly didn’t even occur to me haha. When I think of the Chinese brands, I’m thinking of the smaller brands like onexplayer, Ayaneo, GPD Win, and aokzoe.
I would pick the ASUS ROG Ally (non-X version, but with the Z1 Extreme) if I had to buy one now. The combination of affordability and performance really stands out. The Steam Deck seems a bit dated to me, the lifespan might be a considerable issue in the near future.
I am an extreme gamer. In my job I design and test diagnostic software for Heavy Duty trucks and equipment. I just wanted to say that you did an amazing job at this breakdown. Not only is the editing on point, but you explained everything perfectly. A lot of people do not understand how these run or what a lot of the components are that make these up. Then you will have a handful that pretend they know these things for reasons I will never understand. You explained it in a way that didn't feel elementary and you didn't announce the extreme technical terminology then follow that up with a condescending explanation, which is a lot of what I see when watching reviews. Good job dude, seriously. I have been back and forth on getting a Steam Deck. I travel A LOT for work. I am in the air constantly. I then spend a lot of time in hotels. When in my room I'm hoping I can HDMI to the TV and watch my streams and play my games. This will work great for me. I know this sounds crazy, but I take my Xbox Series X with me a lot. I have taken my PS5 a few times, but that is only when I am deep into an exclusive. I do take my Switch OLED, but Nintendo is always so behind on getting out their next console and I am just not a huge Nintendo fan. I wasn't even aware of all the competition Steam Deck had until 6 months ago. So watching your video helped me a lot. I hate the idea of this horrible looking frame rate on a newer AAA title, but everything else sounds good. I want to have my Netflix and HBO and all that in the hotel without having to take a giant console.
I do have to chuckle at the fact the MSI didn't make the cut due to hardware failure. It did seem like MSI just wanted to cash in rather than making a quality product.
To me the top contenders in the more known brands (outside of Orange Pi, Onexplayer etc) are the Steam Deck OLED and the Rog Ally X. You just cannot beat the OLED no matter what spec LCD you throw at it. The steam deck OLED is stunning but Rog Ally X wins by having 24GB RAM (although we should be expecting it to be 32GB!) iGPUs just need more RAM and with games needing 16GB alone for rendering the world, there is no RAM left to be assigned as VRAM
Steamdeck OLED user here...I love the deck, however im more of a multiplayer kinda gamer and well would love a windows device. Im currently selling my OLED to either get an Asus ROG Ally or Legion GO... Ideally I would just play some multiplayer COD and MMOs.. what do you suggest?
I have hades 2 between 120 and 144 at 1600p, when i tried to backdoor the 7840u drivers to use adrenalin the same settings on hades 2 turned into 60-80 fps, and i tested several games and it was a loss across the board, not sure what your using but def stick with lenovo drivers.
Good video! Always love your content. My only negative feedback is that your ratings out of 10 are overly positive. Almost nothing was below a 7 out of 10, which makes it hard to know the comparison. For example, i would rather that, for each metric, the handhelds spread across the entire 10 points so that i can really see the difference. All being either an 8, 9 or 10 makes it really hard to know which is worse and by how much. E.g. I would have put Asus at a 2 on Support, not a 7. Asus would still get a good score because of their other categories being good, but id know to expect issues with support (and to look into it more if i wanted to buy one)

@@AndrewS-xk6fw did you get any issues with the triggers ? (squeaky noises) I read on forums and seen videos that a lot of people encountered issues with ally x's triggers that started doing really annpying noises and I don't wanna buy a device 900 euros for it to be cheaply made
@JURO768KUJO I did unfortunately get issues with both of the triggers and these issues were both within weeks of my purchase.
This video cooked, thanks for getting to the point!! Covered everything I needed to see for a purchase
Which one did u purchase ??
Legion go massive screen and z1 extreme cannot be challenged.
It's perfect for AAA games to emulation.
The steam deck has a nice screen sure but we're all buying these for 1 reason GAMES and legion go handles it all.
absolutely great review! props for the graphics, really helped the realization of the results, I was between a Legion Go and a SD Oled, since ROG Ally X is not available in my country, helped me to realize that SD Oled is worth more than the legion go in bang for the buck here, thanks!
the picture quality and color science of this guys's video is insane
I love the Steam Deck OLED and LCD. I have the OLED I keep at home, and I bring my LCD on the go🔥
Your video is really great and helpful! I like how you deliver your info, very clear and straight to the point . thanks for sharing this!
You should try the Rokid Max 1200p/120Hz/16:10 AR glasses. They work really well with all these handhelds, including the Steam Deck.
They’re the best AR glasses out there, so far.
how about screen size witch meassure would you say is it optimal for a handheld? 7 or 8 inch? or more?
Windows 11 works on Steamdeck without any problems. It's not hard to install it, just like on normal PC. Of course, you can leave SteamOS also and use it in dual boot mode.
Windows update always mess with boot order, or boot menu such as Clover.
What the other guy said. Besides who would want windows 11 😭
great Vid ! quality increases with every upload , nice job my man ! 👌
The production quality of this video was enough for me to suscribe and watch the whole thing from start to finish. Keep it up bro! Right now the YT Algorithm hasn't blessed the channel (1K Views in 4 hours isn't bad, but not quite there)
Hopefully the YT AI bs starts doing it's magic soon, amazing video with top notch editing!
Also rip ASUS SD Cards 💀
I got Sdoled, rog ally x, and legion and i scored exactly the same thing you did. I put SD on top, ally x 2nd, and legion go 3rd. Dnt get me wrong, ally x is beast, but for my use case, i have to pick sd oled. Battery life, software, and especially the ergonomics checked all these boxes.
The Steam Deck sleep and resume is so nice. Microsoft badly needs to add that to windows.
It wouldn’t make me buy a windows handheld, but I’d use it constantly on my gaming desktop.
Pick a Steam deck if you already own a PC or console. If not, pick Rog Ally.
Why?
@@bluebroham No point playing heavy AAA games on steam deck, the performance is just underwhelming
Bingo. PC handheld market really that simple right now
I was thinking about the ally x because I don't have a PC or console, and I like to play online shooters while also being able to stream movies and sports, do you think it's the best bet for me?
That reasoning won't apply for everyone though. I have a gaming PC and I still went for the ROG Ally X. After all, my goal is to continue playing my games while on the go, with as few compromises as possible. (That, and access to Game Pass is a must for me)
If steam deck will have much more battery and performance next year, and of course with a reasonable pricing, then it will be the GO!
Great video, good to see how much competition there is now.
One thing I will say in defense of the LCD steam deck is that because it was the first and sold so many, it's easy to get a secondhand LCD steam deck for $250 or less, which to me, is an insane value.
Best video comparison out there!
Call me a freak, but excluding the OLED Steam Deck, my favorite Windows handheld PC is “The Claw!!!!!!!”
The claw is a power hungry garbage, so you are a freak
So what about an Ally X with Steam OS??? would you recommend the Ally X then??
Always video, the deck oled hasn't let me down yet
Great video!
I always say there is no one best; it depends on what you want.
*I’ve tried them all 😅
If you have to choose one out of Ally x or legion go ?
@@vish7x out of those 2 I lean towards Ally X, but it could go either way.
I do love the larger screen of the Go, but the native landscape screen of the Ally solves a lot of problems. Not to mention VRR and more RAM which really helps with smoothnesses in heavy games
@@BarelyAverageDude Thanks dude! Actually I’m really confused bw these two bcoz I don’t play indie games …just down to the heavy stuff…do you think trackpad is a big miss on Ally x or it’s fine anyways?
@@vish7xfor indies performance is not an issue on either. It will come down to with you want the larger screen of the Go or the much larger battery and portability of the Ally X
My non gaming windows laptop just broke, I just use it for internet browing, media consumption, and office tools and I actually rarely use it because I a have a gaming pc which I mainly use. Attaching external monitor, mouse, and keyboards is not issue for me. Should i get a steam deck instead of a laptop?
The Lenovo's screen, though...
The only good thing about the GO. Best tablet you can buy tho.
@lorenzothomas2612 The performance is pretty good, though it does lag the Alky X. Still, I'm happy with the trade-off of battery life and 6 or 7 frames fir that awesome screen.
I'd definitely choose the Go again.
Ally X IS THE best hands down
@@LILMCJOHN I gave you a thumbs up for the comment, but I respectfully disagree, sir 😄
@@LILMCJOHN Asus is a scam company
Ally X is the clear winner for me. Its both powerful and versatile. For those that like Steam OS you can easily dual boot as well.
Yes I recently just bought my Ally X and I'm also an owner of the OLED steam deck. I love both but for my triple A games that will only be played my my Ally X and I'll be playing my Steam deck as my backlog system
You can run steam os on ally x? Should I just get ally x ? Instead of steam deck oled?
@genieotl yes get Ally it can run everything
Asus is a scam company. Don't give thenm our money. More people should know about this.
Legion go is better
I've had my Steam Deck (LCD) for awhile, maybe 3mo. after it came out. I didn't get it to play AAA games, but I've changed settings to play games like cyberpunk and it runs fine. The rest of the games available on Steam , especially indie games run like a champ. I get between 3-5hrs of game time and it's a no brainer when hooking it up to an external monitor/tv.
For it's ease of use, the amount of entertainment I get for the cost -- I think the Steam Deck is the overall pick for casual gamers
what's the cheapest handheld that can run steam os/a variant of. even if its just for small indie titles? thanks
IMO, using Linux on the steam deck was a really good choice. It’s harder to get accustomed to, sure, but the performance benefits plus the customization in the os is great.
My Original Steam Deck 512gb LCD, Lenovo Legion Go and Rog Ally X. All 3 are amazing handheld pc and worth buying.

Rog Ally X.
@@RolandDobbins thank you! If you don’t mind me asking have you had the legion go? & if so what are the pros vs cons on the ally x vs legion go?
Btw I play games like Fortnite, call of duty, god of war , the last of us & those style games
Hey you used the Matrix boot video I made :) So cool it's one of my favorites
Does the DBrand thumbstick grips work with the Go?
Very balanced and an awesome video . Completely agree with the ranking though i think the best screen belongs to legion go and then steam deck. The thing that stops me getting an ally x is the small screen. I bought the first ally and sold it only becaue of the screen.
Legion go my favorite at the moment, that screen is unmatched
You've made some really good points thank ya, im keeping my Steam Deck OG and wait til the next round of handhelds, def might lean into a legion go 2 if or when that gets announced, I just want to play more graphically intensive games, but I dont want a whole desktop
Ally X using Steam OS is king, but SD Oled is decent. Still need to go over the Chinese variants of this product category, they have some really good stuff.
Legion go just needs freesync bigger battery and better speakers and this wouldn't even be a conversation. Also A connector for the remote.
What's that game at 7:53
what is the name of the song playing in the background?
Name game at minute 6:49 - 6:51, please
Just Cause 2
Hey, I’m new to your channel but I didn’t want to say I enjoyed this video.
I do want to add that maybe in the future update or review you should consider the windows handhelds when using a Linux distribution such as Bazzite and how that affects performance, battery life, and ease of use.
Modding on steam deck is a great now too!
If you want to play AAA game with smooth fps and bigger battery pick rog ally x
If you casual gamer playing 2D game and AAA game but with capped fps to 40 or lower pick steam deck oled
Price :
Steam Deck Oled $650
Rog Ally X $800
I can get SD Oled for $600 but not Rog Ally X for $800. They selling here for $960.
@@izcondoralexander try $1100 for the Ally X and $750 for the Deck OLED (1 TB version) here in India.

If you want the best all around buy the Legion Go. Bigger screen. Hands down the main thing. Who the fuck wants to keep playing on a 7 inch like the switch from 15 fucking years ago. OLED or not. QHD and windows for any other content wins hands down due to the larger screen.
4:11 what game is that?
Sifu
Well playing shooter games and fighting games with legion go makes sense with the detachable controls. With asus rog ally x, if you want longer batter life.
Love ur camera looks nice on my screen
You gotta try out some of the Chinese brands as well, some decent ones out there as well. Great video btw 🎮!
Any recommendations?
Isn't lenovo a Chinese brand?
@@dr_ubo the onexfly from onexplayer is my current favourite device. Another cool device to checkout is the win 4 or win mini from GPD.

WB the aya neo or the odin devices. I heard there were other windows handlends
You gave both SDs the same battery rating but everyone knows the oled models are more efficient giving more battery life.
I would pick the ASUS ROG Ally (non-X version, but with the Z1 Extreme) if I had to buy one now. The combination of affordability and performance really stands out. The Steam Deck seems a bit dated to me, the lifespan might be a considerable issue in the near future.
I have both SD and Ally X and I have to say the ally x is just sooooo much better. Wonderful experience with it so far

I just want to know which handheld won't give me any issues with game mods
That said I can see the Ally 2 with a larger OLED screen as well. I‘d definitely dual boot the system though with Windows and Steam
OS.
Wait for the legion go 2
Has that been announced?
Steamdeck OLED user here...I love the deck, however im more of a multiplayer kinda gamer and well would love a windows device. Im currently selling my OLED to either get an Asus ROG Ally or Legion GO... Ideally I would just play some multiplayer COD and MMOs.. what do you suggest?
