    It appears that, as previously shown by Sir Ian Gunjesus, the WWSD is more accurate than Chewbacca's Bowcaster - Thank you, Range Bloke :)

    That’s 20 shots at 328 yards from 4 different suppor styles all within a 24 inch ring? That’s not bad at all.

    • @721pjm
      @721pjm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's about 8moa isn't it?

    • @likydsplit8483
      @likydsplit8483 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, 24inches at 300yds would be about 8moa, yes.
      But his worst shots never fell outside the #3 ring (better than 8moa) - and the point of the comment was his ability from multiple resting positions.

    It'd be nice if there was a UK compliant version of this rifle for those of us that shoot over here and aren't allowed such beastly things as assault machine guns (semi-automatic centre fire rifles)!

    It's a pretty nice little doodad, and is still fairly light with a, red dot, bipod, light, forward grip, sling mounts, m-lok rail, and sour skittles.

    The Warhammer charging handle digs into my back when I have the rifle slung on my shoulder or across my back and occasional hits my spine. I had to go with a smaller charging handle,. I grabbed a Presma ambi charging handle.

    Very impressive indeed. I do wonder if the results would change significantly if you waited 10 minutes between groups. I mean we know the WWSD doesn't wander off in a spesific direction but we also know that the froups do open up some.

    Maybe it's more of a stability issue? Off the bipod there's less downward pressure allowing more gun movement before the bullet has left the barrel? The other positions physically hold the rifle down, just a thought?

    Interesting: I get 2 MOA upward shift with a bipod which is actually more than a bit annoying switching from prone to sitting and is quite significant on a fig 12 target. I've also noticed when mag resting that if I also use a sling at the same time it can move the group to the left when increasing the tension. I've tried a change of handguard and change of barrel and it still happens, I'm going to see if switching to a thick walled upper makes any difference...

    • @marfu_lee

      @@BlokeontheRange I've not noticed much POI changes in other positions and definitely didn't have similar issues with a Ruger Precision in 260, perhaps the effect is more pronounced with the puny 223? Didn't you have an AR10 (failing that STG57): maybe a repeat test with heavier calibre is in order?

    • @cymond
      @cymond 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The question in this case is how much will it shift from different holds.
      A rifle that shoots perfectly only when held perfectly isn't what most people would call "good".

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's a reason why such tests are not typically done with a rigidly-clamped rifle, cos it won't necessarily vibrate in the same way as when held by a real human. In any case, here we're looking at how different ways of holding/resting affect things.

    Isn't it a misnomer to say that the barrel is free floated given that the gas tube is attached to the gas block which is attached to the barrel and the gas tube goes into the gas key on the carrier group? So in actuality only the handguard that is free floated?

    • @aqui1ifer
      @aqui1ifer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Technically, yeah but you’re realistically not putting any real forces onto the gas tube or gas block with those hand guards; having built one myself for perspective.

    • @onpsxmember
      @onpsxmember 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Usually it's the handguard. It makes sense to say free floated here comparing it to the A1 how the barrel is touched.
      In the truest sense only non gas operated rifles could be free floated. At the top of special order rifles for long range, there are rifles that don't care for free floating but to actively influence the resonance for repeatable shots for 2-3km and beyond. Don't hang yourself up on those terms. Same with DI...just call it Stoner DI and enjoy a range trip.

    Free floated barrel or not, the barrel and handguard still mate at the barrel nut.
    A bipod at the end of the handguard is going to apply a greater moment on the handguard than holding it anywhere else. And moments act on whatever fulcrum you have. So the barrel nut is going to take on that moment and transfer it to the barrel as well.
    AR-15 free-floats are not truly free-floating

    • @aqui1ifer
      @aqui1ifer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Except that your pressure is on the wrong end to actually fulcrum the barrel since it’s connected near the chamber, not at the end where the bipod is. Any pressure you put out there is negligible at best.
