I feel like no one really talks about how truly lonely it is to move away from your family and be living on your own in a completely new place for the first time. As an introverted and family-centric person I really really struggled my freshman year of college as well. I wish I had had someone to relate to back then so I could feel s e e n, haha. But seriously, it's super important to showcase the real stuff as someone with a large social media presence. Keep doing you! ❤️
sameee its such a struggle but kinda adjusted in college since I moved away from my family back at my senior year in high school. Its sad but thats life and its reality lol it just takes time to adapt in a new environment :"')
I can not relate since I’ve been living in NYC and been going to schools here my whole life too. I appreciate Linh sharing her story to connect more with us as an audience. The people with the biggest platforms sometimes are lonely or feel lonely💯

im from california and im debating committing to georgetown, this is something that scares me so much :( it’s awesome possibly being able to be in such a new environment but being so far away from home is so nerve wracking.
@@daniella8401 I think the good thing that you really experience once you're on campus is that everyone is in the same boat. It's really bonding to be homesick. I will say that moving from the west coast can also have a bit of a culture shock and people tend to clump together based on where they're from. Lots of opportunities for chosen family because of being in such a new environment.

I'm asian american(part filipino) and my mom doesn't often talk about her country because it makes her miss it too much. As a result I haven't been able to connect with the asian side of me as much as I'd like to. Just gotta say I’m so proud of you for realizing that you really can’t compare your college experience to someone else’s. As some who went to school on the other side of the country and also took a gap year to figure things out, I now fully embrace my unorthodox college experience in a university where that wasn’t the norm. And to anyone who’s reading, make sure you’re in college for you and there’s no perfect way to do college so always check in with yourself and trust your gut.
As a senior in college, I just want to say that it's so normal for people to struggle during freshman year. Yet, it's so easy to feel alone in that. College can be so romanticized by parents, social media, movies, etc, but it can be really hard!! One thing that helped me a lot was a professor's advice - she told me that often, you won't really feel settled in with your own community of friends at college until the second semester of sophomore year. Hearing that helped me to feel less alone, and realize what I was going through was normal! I can't imagine what it must be like being a freshman during COVID years, but I bet there's someone out there who's feeling the same way you do *hug*

I’m so glad you enjoyed the farmers market! When I moved to DC a couple years ago I really struggled with getting to know the area. I ended up working for a local pickle company and doing three markets a week for them and driving deliveries around the DMV during the pandemic has SO helped me feel both more at home and more adventurous. 🥒🥬🌶 Here’s a pro-tip from a pickle person: best vegan kimchi is from Number 1 Sons! They’re at the DuPont market every Sunday (and just about every other DC market too).
