I remember coming across 'Teen Romances' in Sims 2 Stories that were created by teenagers -- ranging around twelve and above, and I remember that specifically as I was in that exact age demographic at the time. For real I read a really disturbing one on the Exchange about a step-dad hitting on the teenage daughter with pretty graphic language and 11 year old me was outraged. And then I made one about a pregnant teenager.
I love how it made childhood you feel sick but childhood me found it absolutely hysterical. I spent half my time in The Sims 2 making what were basically Saw traps for my Sims, and the other half making Doctor Who characters to play out my fanfic scenarios with 😭.
So, a mix of GrayStillPlays and me, basically. :P (Well, I didn't actually act out fanfics. My thing was to make characters I liked from all different franchises (including Doctor Who), as accurately as possible, then throw them all into a town together and SEE WHAT HAPPENS!) ...what am I saying "was", I still totally do that now...
Sims 2 Machinimas were literally the reason I got into the Sims 2 as much as I did (only had life stories at the time), realised I was gay as hEcc, AND introduced me to Buffy the Vampire Slayer hahaha. Iconic tbh.

@@comfortzoneking8785 That's not a fair comparison since the pandemic started after Trump became president, also this video has nothing to do with politics to stop commenting it everywhere
The fact that I got a TH-cam Premium ad halfway through this saying "Watch baby how-to's uninterrupted" and it was showing a video of a baby being wrapped up like a burrito in a blanket. I can't. 🤣
I remember being 6 years old watching these with my little brother. We were watching this specific one with that Avril song “when youre gone” And I just remember watching the sim place the baby in the grill and us losing our shit
I just don't think any weird Sims mod is especially concerning. How many people have murdered their sims in exceedingly weird and convoluted ways? There's an active cannibalism mod, and I don't think any of those people are going to go and eat real people. Sims are just pixels, man.
There’s only one that actually have a problem with- and it’s the mod that took wicked whims, and included kids and toddlers. Especially since a lot of the people who defended that version of the mod seem to be maps.
The thing I remember the most about Sims 2 as someone who only got into playing the franchise when Sims 3 came out is literally this mod and all of the eating disorder videos. Guess being exposed to that kind of shit made me this overgrown emo kid that I am today.
I remember reading Candy’s Uglacy/Legacy Challenges, and she would have a “B Plot” where her Simself lived with past Sims from her legacies. She used this mod during that portion, and I was always intrigued by it lol Also, how wild is it that we used to READ legacies? Instead of watching them. They were like graphic novels
iirc Pescado has an archive of all his old mods, so you could probably find it there. I remember downloading it as a teen just for the meme of it, my friend and I always joked "hey our sims are hungry, time for some baby back ribs!" good, if not mildly concerning, times.
Love your entire histories, they're so informative. I've been a Simmer since 2002 and never even knew this was a mod. I would only see screenshots and always thought players just used moveobjects to place their baby wherever (like when I used moveobjects to place Nina Caliente passed out at the bottom of the stairs so it looked like she had fallen down them and had a miscarriage, don't judge thank you). It's no surprise this mod is back for The Sims 4, because babies are literally objects in The Sims 4 that EA can't even apply the correct skin tone to.
okay but can we talk about the heavy throwback feelings this sims 2 footage is giving me?? I used to have aaaaaall this custom emo cc, the hair and the makeup send me right back
I downloaded some of that exact stuff to give to my Sim of the one, the only, Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way. Her formal outfit was even the marching-band uniform from "The Black Parade" video, in dress form. XD
Did I miss a mention of Jonathan Swift? He seems very pertinent to this mod, and should def be included in your Entire History of… episode. This mod just proves how cultured the sims community is, and it’s proof of how paying attention in English Lit can inspire people. Lolz

Hey gorgeous 💕 I’m loving the hair. Lmaooo the name of the mod is hilarious. But same because everytime I BBQ, I always end up burning myself and I’m like “OMFG” so I understand her point lol
I found about about this mod when i was around 12. I thought it was so hilarious. But really i think the mod is pretty cool, since toddlers and babies can't die normally in the sims, it's fun to have that option, for um... storytelling purposes.
I remember that I didnt know it was a mod and tried so hard to get that bbq grill. I never figured it out until a few years ago when I realised it wasnt an in game feature.
In the school yard we told urban stories about this baby barbeque. I honestly thought it wasn't real... until years later once the sims 3 came out. It's both disturbing and hilarious at the same time 😅😭
I attribute these types of videos for developing my sense of morbid curiosity at a young age; I remember watching the first video featured when I was like 9 and thinking nothing of it.
I was a teen when this came out and the machinima still makes me laugh. I just think it's so absurd, it's a laugh. But man the music video machinimas, they give me so much nostalgia.
the funny thing is this mod was actually pretty technically impressive for the time? the sims 2 was notorious for corrupting at the drop of a hat, ESPECIALLY when removing sims and messing with babies, so, like, the fact that pescado made a mod that managed to kill/remove babies from the family without majorly fucking up your save file was REALLY impressive
I took the screens for the bbq’s first posting! 🤣 One of the unseen aspects of it was it cleared up the possible game-breaking code dangles if you just deleted the baby. He also had an item for clearing the code spaghetti if you wanted to delete random sims/npc’s.
I remember the I ate my baby for dinner, and watching it around 2010-2011 that's what actually got me into sims 😭 and I remember when I first got sims 3 on console I tried barbecuing one of my babies but obviously didn't work because I didn't know it was a mod, forever will be my childhood.
I'm kinda sad I never delved into mods for Sims 2! I love your perspectives, thanks for the stories! Can't wait to watch your future CC series. And girl you're looking adorable and you're glowing! Your hair style is super sweet and I'm loving your shirt! 10 out of 10 on today's aesthetics.
It should also be noted "dead baby jokes" were huge at this time. The reaction to them was more the punchline than the content of the "joke". omgwtfbbq gave visuals to them 😂
Thank you so much for your content, Jesse. Your videos bring me so much comfort and always leave me with a warm heart and a smile on my face. I hope you know how much you're loved.
I remember reading about the creation of this mod on Pescado's forums - I don't think I was there during the creation but I was a bored teenager and hoovered up internet drama in forum archives like a person possessed. There was a whole extra layer of discourse around who was making it and how, on top of the discourse that came about once it was released... man, you just don't find good sims drama like that anymore.
God this mod was the weirdest thing, when I was a kid we heard about it in school and a teacher told us there was a virus in the mod, so I never downloaded it then. Realise from this video she just lied to us to make sure we didn't get this mod, genius. (PS you always look good, but the way your hair is sitting in this video, it frames your face nicely.)
I think a TH-camr named Call Me Kevin used this mod for some of his Sims 2 playthroughs. I distinctly remember one of his videos involved him using a grill to perform the Roast Monster action on an alien baby Edit: Found that video. He disclosed that he was using the mod in the title, and it was only one vid
Oh man, I remember being 9 years old watching Sims 3 machinimas... All the "pregnant at 16," "I'm in love with my professor," and "alien spawn" videos. Good times lol. I always wanted to make them but I wasn't allowed to upload videos to TH-cam so I pretended I was doing stop motion animation videos by taking 1,000 in-game screenshots, then clicking through them really fast. A lot of these weird old mods and the stories people made with them aren't really hurting anyone if they have the right warnings, as Jesse has done here, and imo it's not good to cause yourself to spiral trying to figure out WHY people would do this. Sure, it's a *little* disturbing but I don't get as upset about it as I used to. The only controversial mods (as in wickedwhims and other stuff) I REALLY hate are ones involving putting children or toddlers in sexual situations. For real I read a really disturbing one on the Exchange about a step-dad hitting on the teenage daughter with pretty graphic language and 11 year old me was outraged. And then I made one about a pregnant teenager.
Exactly! I wanted it so bad as a kid. XD
I saw this on Reddit and found it funny
@@Captain-star Link? :-)
The early sims games were so adult it was fucking crazy bro
But that was the good times😩
I love how it made childhood you feel sick but childhood me found it absolutely hysterical. I spent half my time in The Sims 2 making what were basically Saw traps for my Sims, and the other half making Doctor Who characters to play out my fanfic scenarios with 😭.
So, a mix of GrayStillPlays and me, basically. :P (Well, I didn't actually act out fanfics. My thing was to make characters I liked from all different franchises (including Doctor Who), as accurately as possible, then throw them all into a town together and SEE WHAT HAPPENS!)
...what am I saying "was", I still totally do that now...
As timid as I was as a child, I also found it pretty funny. Just a little quirk of the Sims series, like drowning your rich husband in a pool
God I miss music video machinimas. They were big even with modern emos. I remember watching them on the bus to school with my friends
Sims 2 Machinimas were literally the reason I got into the Sims 2 as much as I did (only had life stories at the time), realised I was gay as hEcc, AND introduced me to Buffy the Vampire Slayer hahaha. Iconic tbh.
The Avril Levine sims 2 music videos were just 🤌🏻 chefs kiss
My immortal oneeeee, I used to love that one and feel it in my 12 year old lil sad bones 🤣🤣
MCR realness
@@MagickShadow Which totally works, since Avril Lavigne's look in the "Sk8er Boi" video is EXACTLY A SIMS 2 TEENAGER COME TO LIFE wtfbbq.
(but no seriously she was. Go look at a picture and then look at Sims 2 teen fashions. Yeah.)
I remember seeing pictures of this as a child and not realizing it was a mod. Between all the horrific deaths in the sims 2, all the unplanned events and all the places they would put down their babies, I genuinely thought your sim could accidentally put the baby on the grill.
The video spooked me but Jesse’s hair relaxed me because it’s so BEAUTIFUL.

The fact that I got a TH-cam Premium ad halfway through this saying "Watch baby how-to's uninterrupted" and it was showing a video of a baby being wrapped up like a burrito in a blanket. I can't. 🤣
Wrap that baby and GRILL IT.
when the vibes were starting to get heavier but then there comes "baby back ribs" and "mom's homemade meatloaf" 😂😭
i literally laughed irl at "baby back ribs", absolutely killer
the kids voice killed me
I loved this mod in the sims 2. I made an evil witch actually that stayed “immortal” from eating babies. It was beautiful.
Sometimes when those babies cry though, you do kinda wanna just barbecue em
I remember being 6 years old watching these with my little brother. We were watching this specific one with that Avril song “when youre gone”
And I just remember watching the sim place the baby in the grill and us losing our shit
I just don't think any weird Sims mod is especially concerning. How many people have murdered their sims in exceedingly weird and convoluted ways? There's an active cannibalism mod, and I don't think any of those people are going to go and eat real people.
Sims are just pixels, man.
People just want to complain about something
Exactly. The amount of warnings. I thought the same. They're not even tangible objects. Just pixels on a screen.
There’s only one that actually have a problem with- and it’s the mod that took wicked whims, and included kids and toddlers. Especially since a lot of the people who defended that version of the mod seem to be maps.
Wait, there's an active cannibalism mod? Can someone point me to that, I have so many storylines running in my head for that already, lol
I guess it depends on how vivid your imagination is
I remember the one where "the baby was evil, it hated the colour yellow". I was quite little and it was terrifying
The thing I remember the most about Sims 2 as someone who only got into playing the franchise when Sims 3 came out is literally this mod and all of the eating disorder videos. Guess being exposed to that kind of shit made me this overgrown emo kid that I am today.
OOOOOOHHH GAAAAWWD. I loved machinimas until this damn idiotic ED videos took over.
And all the teen pregnancy stories Inteenimator was revolutionary to people lmao
omfg yes
I remember reading Candy’s Uglacy/Legacy Challenges, and she would have a “B Plot” where her Simself lived with past Sims from her legacies. She used this mod during that portion, and I was always intrigued by it lol
Also, how wild is it that we used to READ legacies? Instead of watching them. They were like graphic novels
Oh my god I was OBSESSED with Candi’s uglacies/legacies! I absolutely loved them. You can still find them online somewhere, someone saved them.
omg I was OBSESSED with the uglacy. Samara and Don were my ultimate couple goals 🥺
Oh my god I haven’t thought about the Uglacys in well over a decade 😭
iirc Pescado has an archive of all his old mods, so you could probably find it there. I remember downloading it as a teen just for the meme of it, my friend and I always joked "hey our sims are hungry, time for some baby back ribs!" good, if not mildly concerning, times.
Yep, it's still there.
XD
As a mom and definitely mama bear, I find the mod hilarious.
JESSE YOU LITERALLY LOOK SO STUNNING
that was the first thing I thought opening up this video!

Did I miss a mention of Jonathan Swift? He seems very pertinent to this mod, and should def be included in your Entire History of… episode. This mod just proves how cultured the sims community is, and it’s proof of how paying attention in English Lit can inspire people. Lolz
JM Pescado is timeless. He's old and has a long beard, after all. I spent so much time laughing at the ridiculousness over on MATY and PMBD. Ah memories

I honestly never even questioned it. When I first learned about this mod I was like: Yep, sounds like a typical sims 2 thing.
Ahhh, the good ol' days 😌The OMGWTFBBQ (though I only found out that that was its name in this very video) was one of the few things that managed to disturb tiny me, and it was around the same time that basically all my free time was spent reading Creepypastas (and subsequently thirsting over Jeff The Killer LMAO)

If I recall correctly, there was a briefly existing bug prior to the release of OMGWTFBBQ. If your sim decided to put their baby down near the kitchen, it was placed inside the oven. The baby was not cooked, but it was still freaking scary.
LMFAO I remember seeing this in EVERY Sims 2 Machinima when I was younger
Those sims 2 music videos are what got me into the game back in 2008....

I’m pretty sure hes done it in his old sims series? Unless that was someone else and I’ve like merged the two in my brain, but i really think he did at some point
It was on his channel that I saw this mod, so he definitely knows about it, lol.
I feel like if CallMeKevin found out about this we'd have a video of him using it immediately

I think I was 11-12yo when I asked my stepfather to install me ts2. the version was pirated ofc, and for some reason it had this mod in it. I saw the option to cook your sim's baby, was like "nooo, they wouldn't", and then they did. let me tell you, I was SCARRED. after that (and also my sim dying while cloudgazing & the other one being eaten by flies (also I found the social bunny terrifying for some reason idk)) I started thinking of ts2 as of something dark and creepy and didn't revisit it till I was like 20. and people in my life who had also played ts2 didn't know what I was talking about when I said my sim grilled her baby, so I kinda started thinking I made the whole thing up

Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” for a modern generation
I found about about this mod when i was around 12. I thought it was so hilarious. But really i think the mod is pretty cool, since toddlers and babies can't die normally in the sims, it's fun to have that option, for um... storytelling purposes.
This didn't really concern me much a few years ago when I found out about it, but now it makes me feel nauseous and a bit upset lol
It's both disturbing and hilarious at the same time 😅😭
BRO i used to see videos of this all the time omg i was way too young, will never get over that mod!!!
What a missed opportunity to called it the BabyQue
I attribute these types of videos for developing my sense of morbid curiosity at a young age; I remember watching the first video featured when I was like 9 and thinking nothing of it.
I was a teen when this came out and the machinima still makes me laugh. I just think it's so absurd, it's a laugh.
But man the music video machinimas, they give me so much nostalgia.
This mod is disturbing, but it fits the series nonetheless. It’s amazing to see the legacy continue.
the funny thing is this mod was actually pretty technically impressive for the time? the sims 2 was notorious for corrupting at the drop of a hat, ESPECIALLY when removing sims and messing with babies, so, like, the fact that pescado made a mod that managed to kill/remove babies from the family without majorly fucking up your save file was REALLY impressive
HEN YOUR HAIR LOOKS WORNDERFUL
I took the screens for the bbq’s first posting! 🤣
One of the unseen aspects of it was it cleared up the possible game-breaking code dangles if you just deleted the baby. He also had an item for clearing the code spaghetti if you wanted to delete random sims/npc’s.
The emo Sims 2 Machinima videos were a solid part of my childhood
I remember the I ate my baby for dinner, and watching it around 2010-2011 that's what actually got me into sims 😭 and I remember when I first got sims 3 on console I tried barbecuing one of my babies but obviously didn't work because I didn't know it was a mod, forever will be my childhood.
this is giving very much spooky halloween vibes. very excited about things to come!!!
I remember this! It freaked me the fuck out, but it was the wild west times of the internet anyways, so we were kind of used to this kind of thing

Ok, so Jesse was 5 when I was over 20, and yet she is still who I want to be when I grow up. There's no hope for me, is there?!

The fact that you still have hope is very much admirable and a special thing

It should also be noted "dead baby jokes" were huge at this time. The reaction to them was more the punchline than the content of the "joke". omgwtfbbq gave visuals to them 😂

I never had any use for the mod myself, but I can't deny that it's a great piece of CC.

I think a TH-camr named Call Me Kevin used this mod for some of his Sims 2 playthroughs. I distinctly remember one of his videos involved him using a grill to perform the Roast Monster action on an alien baby

That will never be funny or even tolerable to me as a survivor of that.
