I DJ. I just bought a Paradigm PW-2200 subwoofer (active). It is 250watts. I have to other speakers that are passive, and are 600watts each. I want to run all 3 together through my amplifier that I have. Question is, will my subwoofer (250w) blow, running it on my amp with the two other speakers? B/c I know it has a built in amp on its own, so I don't think it should. But someone please let me know. Thanks.

    Hi
I've had this sub for just over a year and have only used it 2 or 3 times. The reason I rarely use it is because it is not very loud. When hooked up to my PA you can barely hear the sub even when turned up high and sitting very close to the speaker. I've never owned a sub before so really don't know how loud it should be, but am surprised at how quiet it is. Is this normal?

      ***** Hi
I actually have the same problem. I got my sub yesterday, so I haven't been able to test it a lot, but it seems that it doesn't get loud, even when the volume is on max. I have used the same mixer, cable and output for my full range speaker and cranked it up all the way until the peak led started flashing (which was something like 115 db) but with the sub i got only something like 95 db. I tested it in my home so I wonder if it doesn't sound loud because sound waves bounce from the wall (I sadly had to put about 1,2 meters away from the wall) and cancel out the ones coming straight from the sub.
I haven't used subs a lot so I don't know much how loud they should be, but the amount of bass varies depending on which part of the room you are standing. For example if you are standing between sub and the wall close to it, the bass is much better.
Do you have a solution to this problem? I'll test my sub more soon, and I hope I don't need to return it. I would be thankful for any information.

I did a few more tests today, and here were the results:
First, I changed the place of the sub, and I think it got a bit louder, but not much. Then I used it's own link output (I use mono input and had no option to run stereo xlr from the mixer) to get stereo input. (by connecting mixer to sub's left input, then left link output to the right input) and it seems that this turned the volume up some more. (My db meter said the difference was 1,5 dB)
But it still wasn't very loud. Then I changed the sound source from ipod to laptop to get a stronger signal and turned my top's volume down a bit so I could turn the mixer output louder. And then this sub started to vibrate the house. So it seems that it needs much stronger signal than my Behringer B212D to get loud. I'm just wondering that if I'd get a better mixer (For now I have used Behringer xenyx 1204, which I have to upgrade at some point anyway) would it's output be stronger?
Problem is that I still don't know does it have some fault in the input or volume section or something like that.
What did you use as a sound source when testing it?

MultiHattiwatti Hi, just saw your comments... Sounds like you may just have a major difference in gain settings. Where are your gains set on your Behringer speakers? If I remember correctly, there is no MIC/LINE switch so your master gain acts as both!
      Try this:
First step: Hook up your entire system in stereo configuration using your balanced outputs on the mixer (XLR ou 1/4" TRS to XLR). So that's mixer L + R output to subwoofer L + R input, then use the subwoofer L + R HPF output (not thru) towards the input on your left and right speaker
2nd step: Set all volume knobs, gains & EQ's to 0 or minimum, mixer, subwoofer and speakers
3rd step: Connect a source to a line input. If using a laptop or MP3 player, make sure your signal si set pretty high & clean (a setting you know doesn't clip or distort). Keeping the EQ flat, put up the gain for the channel(s) you are using until the clip light starts blinking, and lower the level just enough so the clip light completely stops blinking.
4th step: Put up the channel's slide to 0 db. If you can isolate just that channel (solo button on some boards) you want to get close to 0db without going over.
5th step: Put up the master output until you get close to your master 0 db.
6th step: Start putting up the gain on your subwoofer. It should get wall shaking loud.... keep it right below clipping as well.
7th step: Slowly put up the gains on your tops. You'll get the volume you're used to playing them at, but at a much lower setting. Keep the master below clipping.
8th step: Lower your master volume on your mixer. Remember (take note) where your gains are set on each component. This setting is going to be optimal for any gig you do as long as you use these components together
If this solved your issue, you'll have less hiss from your Behringers. If not, Maybe you're right about not having the proper mixer for this subwoofer. OR maybe there really is an issue with the sub, so have it checked out

HI I dont want to be a smartass here, just I write what I did, maybe its help. I have a Alto TS sub18 truesonic with Ts 118W. if I connect with wifi to ( ts118w) than from there connect to my sub with xlr ( for home use) the subw gives nice shine, but not so loud. BUT. If I connect from the mixer to the sub first( wire) and from there with wire to the Ts 118.. I have to tell you its just killer. Of course I cut the mid and high tones on the subs. Plus in my setup the subs are pretty close 1,5 meters. Believe me its broke the windows. :) hope its help or may be something to try. ( ps: I use traktor s4 controller with Macbookpro, from S4 to subs ( left -right stereo connection with jack) and from the subs to ts 118w with cable.) small but killer setup for a private parties.

Robdigo Go for 1 15 inch. I have 2 ts215 and 2 ts sub15. What you'll find with the 18 inch is that the sound will travel further but won't be punch or loud at the dancefloor which will likely to be 10 feet. 15s you get best of both worlds.

Hi can you suggest what size would be more suitable for miking a kick drum in a rock/pop band for small/medium venues, or 15" or an 18" sub? I'm guessing the 18" would be better?

Hi PA - Tester - friend,.I come from Germany and play life music and DJ. I RCF have 312 A top parts 2 x. I'm looking for even a subwoofer to support. In Fage, Alto come TS-SUB-15 or Behriger B1500D - Pro. You have tested both. The Behriger has a little more power than the Alto. It is very much harder. Please tell me how is dei quality of the two SUB's to each other. extends the Alto with its 27KG weight or the Behriger it is worth to be better.Greetings from Germanywww.Franks-musikladen.de

    Hey Kareem,
What is your opinion on the American Audio PXW 18P subwoofer? I am in doubt choosing between the PXW 18P, the Alto TSSUB18 , and the Behringer B1800D. Which one would you choose? It is suppost to play for middle sized clubs (400 people)
Many thanks for the great vids,

heavy AF.....jk. mine are 64.5 and 60.5 lbs. I bought them used from Guitar Center and I'm pretty sure that someone blew the speaker out and replaced it with a cheaper replacement where the magnet is 4 pounds lighter
