      I'm also a widow, for 22 years had the benefit of being married to a man that could build or fix anything, but no more. As soon as he was killed all hell broke loose around here... I'm hanging in there, through the use of YT. I even replaced my kitchen faucet & installed an under the sink water filtration system. Stay tough! 💪

    Thanks very much Carlos! I'm waiting for a little warmer weather and then will do this.

    Great video! My spout was leaking. It’s thread one. I replaced with new one. I put tape over thread then put new spout but it’s still leaking. So annoying! What am I doing wring?

      Not sure if you got this fixed but I believe you need to replace the cartridge in the handle to stop the dripping

    What do you do, if you have a shower head that’s turned on by a faucet rather than at the spout? I’ve got 3 separate faucets one for hot one for cold and one to turn on the shower

    This was great until the end when you pushed the diverter down while the water was running. That’s a sure way to ruin your new spout very quick. Always turn the shower off then push down the diverter.

    If u had a cpvc pipe with a threaded connection on end of pipe would you be able to thread the spout right on without any of the plastic pieces inside of spout?

    • @DIYPlumbingGuy
      @DIYPlumbingGuy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This one yes, it’s a universal kit, it has the option to thread right in.

    Why do we use the tape?

    If your copper pipe extends out further, say 1.5 to 2 inches, do you just not add on the 1st part of the plastic extender? Is there a universal rule to how far copper pipes should extend out the wall so tub spouts can be installed smoothly? I see vids with pipes extending out few inches vs one's just less than an inch. I appreciate your help, bro.

    • @DIYPlumbingGuy
      @DIYPlumbingGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support!! There is no rule how much it has to extend out. It simply becomes a preference for when installing the finish spouts. Some tub spout kits required the extra few inches to slide an adapter that will secure the spout, while others will screw direct to the pipe it self. I hope it helps, and thank for a follow up video idea 😉…

      Yea for sure! It takes a few tries and sure is worth the effort though, saving you money. Also, mine needed a rubber gasket to prevent leak from behind the spout which I finally figured out. It's these little things like this that you almost call the plumber for lol.

    • @BC-lo7kv
      @BC-lo7kv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @rogerh2694 I needed the gasket for my 2" copper pipe so it didn't leak too. Did you use the gasket that came with the Danco spout?

    • @rogerh2694
      @rogerh2694 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BC-lo7kv Damn, this was 8 months ago lol. I believe so but my memory is vague now. Recall going back n forth several times to Home Depot back then and putting the project on hold for a few months & just used another shower as I couldn't get the cartridge in, then came back to it. Fun stuff!

    • @BC-lo7kv
      @BC-lo7kv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @rogerh2694 Oh yeah. Been back and forth a few times, too! 😂🤦‍♂️ this is the only shower. So got to make it work soon. Lol. Cool, thanks for the response. I might try a different brand.

    still have a little dripping you need to replace cartridge

  • @aprilwaller123

    What if you?r shower head has good pressure ,but the leak is coming from the tub faucet only?

    • @DIYPlumbingGuy
      @DIYPlumbingGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having proper pressure to the shower head, only means that the leak in the faucet is not big enough to affect the shower head. This fix should stop the leak. 🛠️👍

      It’s pipe thread sealant aka pipe dope

    • @DIYPlumbingGuy
      @DIYPlumbingGuy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct.. Monsters pipe sealant.

    My pipe extends about 3 inches from the wall and is threaded but the threads are damaged and the spout replacement shot off I tried but can’t unscrew the copper pipe to replace it

    • @nybiggs
      @nybiggs หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      3 monoths too late but might help the next person.... copper pipes don't screw into each other, they are generally soldered together. Trying to twist a pipe off might damage the pipe so don't even try that. You need to cut the pipe, then either restore it by soldering on a slip coupling and threaded connector again. Alternatively they also make slip fitting tub spouts which go on bare cut pipe (no threads needed). You just have to find the appropriate length one to match the copper pipe.

    Great video. The basic design of the tub spout and its water blocking mechanism is wrong. Its not correct to have a pull/push mechanism to be used on a daily basis. We need some other better design for this shower/tub water source combo.
