- Three cases in which you should not get the Taigun. First, if you are looking for a wallet friendly vehicle - the Taigun is a bit of a hardsell. The engine with better fuel efficiency, sophistication of the dual-clutch and all round ability is the 1.5 petrol. Which costs upwards of 20 lakhs. And yes, the 1 litre engine isnt fuel efficient. Second, it feels a bit cheap - The Taigun needs to do better with its feature - it misses out on a 360 degree camera- no problem, but the video feed of the reversing camera quality is poor. It also has static bending lines also. The power window switches feel sticky at times. The seat colours and finishes seem low rent too. Also - there's no soft touch plastics on offer. And the absence of ADAS on a 20 lakh offering is hard to justify. Third, if you are looking for a five seater. The Taigun’s biggest drawback is that it is narrow. And so accommodating three adults adult even for short journeys will be difficult.

While I genuinely like the Taigun, I feel the criticisms here are quite valid. Hard pill to swallow but they do seem to be true in some ways.

I am VW owner looks wise it's most basic looking even Breeza and Espresso feels better. Better go for Virtus it has a Ford Mustang feel in it.
I'm using kushaq 1.0 and the fuel economy is pretty good. I drive 38km to office in bumper to bumper traffic and it never came under 12 kmpl. While coming return to home at midnight roads are open and getting around 20kmpl. So getting around 16 kmpl average.
On highway it given upto 21 22 kmpl as well . This is will AC on continuously

I recently test driven this and the engine performance and brakes are awesome. No other rivals can compete with it.
Cons:
1. Rear AC throw is not much even with high fan speed.
2. Sunroof doesn't close completely, only the upper part closes and we need to close the inner roof manually.
3. Resale value.
I bought taigun 1.0 at recently , driven 800 kms so far , max fuel efficiency I got is 16.7 and lowest if 5.5 , mixed conditions 12 with ac on . Highway mileage is good but city seems to be worrying many says after 5km city mileage will also increase.
Coming from Hyundai I felt ac performance is low .

Like I’m driving a sports car. 1.0 is very powerful engine . Overtaking is bliss.
I would suggest spend little extra and buy 1.5 at .

A basic doubt.. why the fuel efficiency deviation is too much.. 16 to 5.. that's a lot of difference..
My car on the highway 19... In the city it's 16 with AC
@@getgsrinivas 5 kmpl in case of bumper to bumper . Normal city traffic with optimal ac (not good for summer ) setting giving around 8.5kmpl Avg
I drove for 450 km recently , 400 kms Highway and 50 village overall with 80 -90 kmph speed I got 15.5 kmpl overall. At some point for abt 100 km it showed me 16.7 kmpl . Above 80 ac performance is also good . So far I have driven only 1400 kms , did 1000 in highway only .

The last reason to buy a manual is for a sporty driving feel and this is not even close to that. Otherwise, manuals are dead, and they're not coming back.
24L car don't have 360 degree camera, panoramic sunroof & Adaptive Cruise control with stop & go, which is available in rival cars. It's is a valid reason to ignore this product. Rivlas catching up on security with 5-star rating. VW should catch up on feature list to stay at-part.

That's true if you just drive to go from point A to point B these cars are not for you period... It is just for passionate drivers who want everything in their control with amazing driving experience.
If anyone is looking to buy a VW at this price range go for Virtus it somehow feels more premium and also it has good enough GC and soft suspension to handle Indian roads.
I would say 1.0 Turbo is better then Creta and Seltos 1.5/1.4. Since these guys are in market already they are largest selling, But I have Taigun, so far this is the best car and Mileage is average of 11 to 14 max in City traffic. In highways it is 17 and above if you drive professionally. Guys don't believe in reviews. Who need 360 Degree Camera and which car of same price provides premium seats and no plastic interiors. No other car in this segment is no where near this Drive comfort, Gear Box and pulling power. After all it is the safest car in this segment. Avoid paid reviews.

I faced lot of creaking sound from the center console and door rattling. Visited multiple times ( to be honest 18 times) but no one from SC could arrest the issue. After that my battery drained so fastly and changed 5 times within my two years of ownership. Finally i decided to sell it out (no peace of mind). The resale value for this vehicle is too low and l sold it for 13L to replace with a another vehicle and I lost 7L within 2years. 5 star rating and smooth engine are the only best things with Taigun. All others sucks 👎

I agree with all the points. Except for the hard plastics part. Every other manufacturer is using hard plastics in either the full dashboard or atleast half of it. Hyundai for example with the Creta, Verna and i20 use hard plastics too but they aren’t called out as much. Might be because the Germans have set such a high expectation for quality interiors for us.
Thank you for putting this across, I always felt the price is way more expensive compared to the competition. Would love to know the general opinion on best after sales services car brands on overall if possible.

I have a Taigun 1.0 TSI and I am getting FE like this, city: 10-14 Highway: 20-26. You should treat the engine like your girlfriend. Otherwise it will turn out to be your angry wife😅😅

The DSG is like a ticking time bomb. You don't know when it will be in a mood to go bad
I've seen (driven) the Kushaq and all the points mentioned here hold true for the Skoda also.
My biggest turn off was that it just didnot seem to justify the price they were asking for it.
It seemed Rs 2 lakh too expensive.
Built quality is the best in class and safety is the best in class
I bought Taigun 1.0 TSI, the taillight started to Crack from inside within 2 years. It is also not covered under warranty..
Which is a perfect petrol engine car under 15L?
Biggest drawback with Taigun is- paying 20 lakh for a longer hatchback car , I don’t regard it as Suv😢

The 26 is a bit too much for mine. It just struggles to go past 20 to be honest. Maybe its because the first actual service (oil change) hasn’t been done? Did you get your oil change service done and does the milage improve after that?
Also the acncooling issue if u r in hot areas
No brain in this, this is great car, in terms of performance, stability, comfort, we frequently go to long trips with 4 adults and 2 children comfortably 😂😂😂😂. No other car can provide this space in this price range.

@@anshulgathoria2936 For me it doesn’t look good when the sheet on roof top bends when I pay more. Try parking it under a Badam Tree and let Badam fall on it, see the dents. Brands of India like Mahindra vehicles do withstand these. That doesn’t look good right?

It all depends on your driving. This is a beast which can produce outstanding mileage and very poor too.
I have AT 1.0 and getting 11 kmpl in city. If not much traffic then 14 kmpl. You just need to maintain below 2k rpm and control accelerating. I know it is difficult with these cars but then ignore mileage and enjoy driving dynamics.

I bought kushaq 1.5 for driving comfort and wonderfull handling . Not for gimicky useless features . Finally i should enjoy driving and safety for my family . which other car manufacturing dont know to make a car ,instead provide only fancy features to impress indian mentality.

Taigun & Kushaq both are surely over priced… The car is good no doubt, but not worth the price. They have to offer more for that price range…

I just sold this car, build quality is awesome and that 1 liter doesn’t have enough to accommodate 3 passengers and that heavy body… Automatic doesn’t give a good feel of drive where DSG is the best option. While climbing it feels like riding bicycle

Hey, you said the interior fit and finish isn't very good. How does the fit and finish of Taigun fare against:
1. Toyota Hyryder?
2. Citroen C3 aircross?
Hi Aayush, we won’t compare it to the C3 - which sits in a segment below.
The Hyryder uses some soft touch materials on the dash and is more consistent in feel - like the power window switches feel a bit sticky. The plastics also look and feel a bit too “tough” for this segment.

@@motorinc It doesnt have the interior build or finish of the previous cars, the car somehow feels flimsy at many places. The steering is now electronic, so most people love the hydraulic one from vento/Rapid. There are many things which doesnt feel special like the prev ones.
It has become expensive for whatever it offers. Just that they have gone too mainstream

I watched a million reviews & they all talk about lack of features. While it is true, how many of the features with the exception of a 360 Cam & adaptive cruise control does one regularly use?!
I test drove the 1.0 Highline AT yest & the driving feel is in another league from any Hyundai. I'm yet to drive the 1.5, so while I'm undecided on the engine, I'm kind of already sold on the car.
I'm not someone who flips cars in 3-5 years. Sold of Honda City iVTEC SMT after 14 years, so going to keep my next car for at least 10 if not more. These bits considered, does the Tiagun make sense?!

Buddy I was just in your shoes. Needed a car for 10yrs. Scratched my head off to becoming bald, spent sleepless nights. The heart said VW/Skoda, the mind said Hyundai/Honda. Finally settled for a Škoda Kushaq. It is a whole different feeling. The driving dynamics and the confidence you get during speeding is mind blowing. These cruise control and all are useless stuff to haggle upon because hardly a family man uses it. 360 degree cam or any lane watch cams are good features owing too how overpopulated the roads are. So I would have loved them. Sunroof is again a bullshit feature which makes no sense in India below Uttarakhand. ADAS wouldn’t have been bad but all cars have that in the top model so let’s not argue there. These are premium German cars and they are always heavier on pocket in comparison to the Hyundais of the world but who is comparing these to the Suzukis and Tatas??? This is a league apart machine. The 1.0 is a super fine engine that these Koreans and Japs can’t even match with all their fancy features.

Fine, but it's okay to include a 360-degree camera, ADAS, 4 disc brakes, high-quality interior, no rattling noise, good ac, and soft cushions. Then pro and enthusiasts will love it even more. Having great driving dynamics is good but inside it feels like an outdated old car so it’s not worth it.
It's a trash. They are making their version of maruti Suzuki cars for India. If they had to copy They should it in terms of milage.

Why cant VWs bring their diesels considering they have them in Europe? It will still be better than the 1.0 and the 1.5
It appears that the prices and increasing urban rules against diesel are making the case for them weaker and weaker
@@motorinc true, especially the BS6 phase norms have made it all the more difficult and expensive for them to make a diesel. That is probably the reason why Kia, Hyundai’s and Tata still have high diesel sales numbers helping them to compensate the costs of making one.
@@motorinc but honestly, If VWs can still bring diesels to tier 2 cities. Always felt diesels were the best of both worlds. Frugal and fast at the same time.

3 star rated car seltos and crushed completely with many accidents. Features are secondary. If we want to minimize the damage caused by accident, then seltos top model or base model build quality is same.

VW doesn't want to be at the top of the pack in India. They constantly assume what the Indian consumer wants.
For example, they could have made the Taigun a proper 5 seater. Was there any reason to make it a 4 seater? I don't see any.

There is a specific reason to buy a VW. You want peace and comfort for years and a great driving experience. Unfortunately, the Taigun deliver both at the same time is my biggest grouse. I went for a Kia after taking a test drive of the Taigun! Didn't feel it was worth it then, not worth it now.
Reason 4: take a good look at the headlights, especially the high beams and see for yourself!
